  1. This thread in nacho-form: http://cdn.sandiegouniontrib.com/img/photos/2015/10/02/bad_nachos_t837.jpg?5df2a6e0ac564ff4ddc2702f3c8561935b88c24b
  2. As a Bear? It's pretty much either his best or second best season.
  3. Famous bloody-handed murderer Mark Nomar with his distinctive vagina-chin.
  4. And I think it's hugely optimistic to think that Cutler is likely to repeat or improve on what was arguably his best season as a Bear.
  5. You're still putting too much stock into that. "Almost won" is just the other side of the same coin as "almost lost." It's not like this is a significantly younger team with a bunch of potential; it's still mostly a collection of spare parts, older players and some scattered younger players they're praying can pan out and/or stay healthy. I agree it's a better team, but at best they've likely gone from bad to OK if enough people stay healthy. i'd say it's more accurate to say it's the older players that are scattered. a few older guys on offense but the defense is very young. The defense can be old, young or purple; it's probably only going to be a bit better than last year's, and last year's was simply an improvement from godawful. It's trending in the right direction, but I think it's going to take another solid offseason, or maybe even two, and there's little reason to think it's going to take a big jump this season. Basically both the offense and the defense look to be middle of the pack at best if they stay healthy. Special teams, I have no idea, and don't really care.
  6. yes, but they were competitive. You're still putting too much stock into that. "Almost won" is just the other side of the same coin as "almost lost." 7. That's not how it works.
  8. As it's been pointed out, looking it in terms of games they "almost won" or "should have won" is a mostly faulty approach. Ultimately the Bears played a lot of very close games last year, but that's not necessarily a good thing, win or lose. yes, but we aren't judging their place in last year's mix, we're trying to predict how good they'll be this year. if they got even a little bit better, they could be a playoff team. But that's the faulty way to look at it; you're basically the games they barely lost they should have won, yet the games they barely won are, what, not in question at all? They were a very mediocre team last year, which is what so many close wins and losses points more clearly at than the idea that they were "almost a good team" and being just a little better probably isn't going to make much of a difference.
  9. They were very far from 10-6 and fox is still the coach. They were highly competitive, i mean, almost won or did win, every game that Cutler started and finished except the second vikings game. As it's been pointed out, looking it in terms of games they "almost won" or "should have won" is a mostly faulty approach. Ultimately the Bears played a lot of very close games last year, but that's not necessarily a good thing, win or lose.
  10. Put on some horsefeathering socks.
  11. You can add the Chargers, Raiders, and Skins to that craptacular mix. I have a lot of trouble seeing how they lose more than 3 games. 2 to go. It was probably like 1983 or something the last time a QB took that many helmet-to-helmet shots without gaining a single penalty yard out of it. Thanks, NFL. The repeated and blatant and, of course, uncalled, headhunting last night kind of epitomized why I've been liking football less and less over the last few years. But thank horsefeathering god they managed to call Trai Turner for unsportsmanlike conduct; children watching could have been scarred by seeing a man jump up and down. Great priorities, NFL.
  12. I predict this leads to, at least, 4 more babies.
  13. You guys left out the Alpha and the Omega: http://www.thefamouspeople.com/profiles/images/joe-morgan-3.jpg He's an idiot.
  14. How can one gif have so many wonderful things happening?
  15. Marge Schott, Pete Rose, Mario Soto The Reds have been affiliated with many hateable people. austin kearns though on the other hand, living deity kent mercker played for the reds so not all bad? You guys left out the Alpha and the Omega: http://www.thefamouspeople.com/profiles/images/joe-morgan-3.jpg
  16. I think it's butters. We can wait for him.
  17. I had only been to FD once, and it was, like, 5 years ago, but we definitely had a good two hours after the tour to take everything in.
  18. That Barney has played in 92(!) games this season is much more surprising than his defense-fueled WAR.
  19. This talk made me think about the 2003 Braves, who won 101 games and got bounced by the 88-win Cubs. Which made me try to remember Game 5 of that series, of which I could really only remember Borowski closing it out. So I looked it up on B-R and of course Dusty Baker sent Wood out there for the 8th with 106 pitches already thrown and a three-run lead. So basically now I'm just remembering how much I hate Dusty Baker and how much I love how our pitching is being managed this year. I might be crucified for this but in a winner take all game and a very shaky pen, I'm not necessarily opposed to Wood pitching the 8th in that situation. Using pitchers like mules in the playoffs I can deal with and is often ideal; Dusty's horsefeathering problem is that he treats the whole season like that.
  20. That lineup looks like complete butt and it'll still win by, like, 5 runs.
  21. It's a very popular name, especially in America.
  22. Well, yeah, but this guy is also a dongsmith so we're on board right? If he can accept that The Scout isn't a documentary and is content to be, say, Zambrano+ in terms of hitting while focusing on being an amazing starting pitcher, sure.
