The stretch is not our thing. The stretch is done across baseball. The Cubs choose to make it stupid. And they've used several opposing announcers and opposing team affiliated people who regularly throw-in the visiting teams name. The strech is more popular with the Cubs because of Harry, and then the celebrity thing.(whether people think it is stupid or not). I don't see the big deal about booing Uecker. But even Harry didn't start it with the Cubs; he started it while he was with the White Sox. Sl although the guest singer may be a Cubs' tradition, the idea of singing in the first place isn't. Exactly. And as "lovable" as the guy was, it's annoying as all get out that the identity of this team is so largely defined by Harry-freakin'-Caray. The Stretch is so far from being some kind of "sacred tradition" it's not even funny.
My seats were right past the Brewer's dugout, towards the front, so I had a great view of Hill the whole night and he looked fantastic, especially in those first two innings! Thankfully, the Cubs decided to finally give him a little run support.
Please, please, please, PLEASE forget that last start against the Brewers, Rich. Please remember you guys are the hitting anchors of this team, Lee and Ramirez. Please come busting out of the gate, Soriano. Please win, Cubs.
At the same time, one would hope a new GM would realize that Wood and Prior are two completely different people, Prior is still pretty damn young, and he pitched very well in 2004 and 2005.
Well, Hill is on the mound so the Cubs anemic offense will just continue. Though seriously, I'm glad we have these 3 pitchers going against the Brewers. This series needs to light a fire under everyone's butts. Wow, based on the numbers I hope Pie gets the start in CF with Jacque in RF.
Oh yeah he was aweosme there. 4 baserunners that inning. if it wasnt the cubs and their lack of fundamental ability he loses. I was just admiring his crazy eyes, not his pitching. Settle down there, McBuzzkill.
Don't agree, not that I'm in love with Lou like some are. However, what a terrible decision Lou made the right decisions in that AB (first bunting, and then starting the runners with a full count). Blame Kendall's execution, but not Lou's managing. I am in heaven this year after Dustys regime. I dont sit there and go WTF anymore. Losses like this don't scream out for a "WTF?!?!" How many times do we see these dopes score all their runs in the first third of a game, often in the first inning, and then the bats go completely quiet for the rest of it? WTF indeed. Thank God we have Soriano coming back and thank God we have a day off for these mutts to lick their wounds.
I'm right here, and as usual I'm an idiot. I'm still not worried about the Cardinals. I'm worried about the damn Cubs. If these morons can play like they might actually want to go to the playoffs, the Cardinals wouln't be a problem. If the Cardinals take it, it's because the Cubs gave it to them.
