  1. People have been booing baseball players almost since the game first started to be played professionally. This is nothing new and it doesn't speak any more or less of most of the people that do it. It's part of the experiene of going to a game, and it always has been.
  2. I'd never argue that Z isn't incredibly talented and can obviously be very dominant, but wouldn't issues like his (Ibelieve) increasing walk and home run totals over the last few seasons indicate that just maybe the idea that he'll "get better" so dramatically again and again isn't such a sure thing?
  3. I have tickets to this game and I attempting to unload them as I speak. Stupid Traschel. Stupid Cubs.
  4. Hopefully getting massacred by decent teams means we've rembered how to beat all those crappy teams we play the rest of the way out.
  5. Yeah, I saw Tourgasm as well. I think he was the 2nd best comedian there though. I don't think what he did at Tourgasm was his best stuff. A lot of people hate him and I don't understand why. Yeah, he's kind of obnoxious and I don't like his on stage antics all that much, but a lot of his stuff is actually funny. I think a lot of people overrate him, but I also think a lot of people severly underrate him. I can't listen to his Harmful if Swallowed CD and not crack up. I've found that most people that can't stand him do so because it's pretty clear he's a joke thief a la Carlos Mencia. Cook has ripped off so much of Louis CK's act that it should be criminal. You pull out all of the bits that he's stolen and you're left with a guy braying like a jackass and bragging about his MySpace page.
  6. That man was just the Dane Cook of his day, blatantly ripping off a much better comedian: http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B0000009QI.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg Even worse, not only was he ripping the guy off, he was ripping of a dying man and then really kicked into overdrive after Hicks died. I really enjoy Leary as an actor and have loved his TV shows, but as a comedian I find him to be a total hack and completely reprehensible.
  7. They're resting Marshall because he still hasn't gone a full season and he's had injury troubles.
  8. This is what it sounds like when doves post crying.
  9. At this point I prefer seeing Eyre going out there over Wuertz. I hope Michael turns it around for the stretch, but Eyre has looked a lot better as of late.
  10. Yeah, I was leaning more towards that besides him only having two pitches. He's got a lot of "violence" going on like the other Carlos, but that Carlos is a freak of nature health-wise. Z is 6-5, 255 and is as strong as an ox. Z also throws with a (relatively) conventional wind-up, especially when compared to Marmol. Marmol is comparatively a twig, and twigs snap easily. There is absolutely, positively no way that Marmol's elbow would hold up for 100 pitches every 5th day and 220 innings for a season. Exactly.
  11. Heh, wasn't he the guy a bunch of teams passed on because he got busted stealing computers from his school?
  12. Gameday melted down in the 8th trying to follow this.
  13. *Insert anyone who even just signs their name lefthanded* is that lefty who owned us right? Fixed.

  15. Doing the math and figuring out those HR totals makes me a saaaaaaaad panda. I know what you mean !!! CUBS are on a pace to hit 129 homeruns this year..... compared to 166 last year and 194 in '05 *Barfs*
  16. We can't bunt...can't run the bases...gads...
  17. Thank you. I've been saying this for months, but most Cubs fans are so loyal to Derrek Lee that they refuse to accept that he is anything but perfect... maybe for what he did in 2005 or because of his troubles last season, who knows? See, I never fall in love with players, so I don't feel guilty about criticizing them at any time. Anyway, I totally agree. Almost every single one of his at-bats are like reruns of the previous ones. But you can't ever say that, or Cubs fans will jump all over you. And as I type this, Lee hits a home run... but I still stand by my argument. Wait, have you ignored all the other threads about this exact same topic on this board? The issue of Lee's AB's have been discussed here so much that this thread is totally redundant.

  19. ? I am also a Pence. Are you his actual cousin or are you just saying that since you have the same last name? 2nd cousin. He actually has posted on here, but got banned. For what? Please do that more often, Lee.
  20. I am not confident about this team playing any other NL Central teams except the Brewers and the Cardinals, and that's scary.
  21. No thanks. Ohman can usually at least get lefties out. Cotts was just terrible all around.
  22. As it's been pointed out, Marmol really only has two pitches. That doesn't bode too well for turning him into a starter.
  23. I mentioned this earlier in the season and I believe I was shown that he typically averages around 100 k's a season.
  24. Late?!? It was only midnight! Get back out there!
