  1. It's horsefeathering [expletive] that this POS hasn't been (can't be?) barred from everything pro baseball related while he's suspended. Here's hoping a bad hop catches him right in the throat.
  2. Looking at it from a strictly baseball standpoint, they completely botched a perfectly serviceable signing. The guy's power numbers were clearly inflated the year before by being in Texas, yet that, of course, was what Hendry and co. glommed onto instead of how good the guy was at getting on base. They had Fukudome and Bradley, who put up a .375 and .378 OPS respectively, yet Bradley had a whopping ZERO PA hitting first, and only 108 batting second. Fukudome at least had over 300 PA hitting first or second, but still had almost 300 PA further down in the lineup. Meanwhile Ryan horsefeathering Theriot had over 600 PA that season hitting first or second.
  3. I'm really liking the tear Ray Ratto has been on since joining Deadspin: https://deadspin.com/kyler-murray-wanted-football-more-than-baseball-wanted-1832539484
  4. I would have figured "old man" David Ross would have been more of a tipping point.
  5. Wikipedia sources an article from 2005 that mentions the police were sent to his house multiple times that August about domestic violence, but he wasn't charged with anything, and especially given the times I don't think that was more than a footnote for most people. The stuff that got him arrested started in 2011, after his one Cubs season in 2009. Yeah, like jersey said, there was definitely worse stuff than his baseball antics out there before the Cubs got him, but it was mostly ignored or brushed aside, as that kind of stuff typically was with pro athletes seemingly short of it escalating to horsefeathering murder. Like, people were legitimately more furious about him trying to go after Ryan Lefebvre than his wife calling the police on him multiple times.
  6. I was pissed when the Cubs signed him. horsefeathers hit .316 .425 .557 .982 over the 2 years before. I was a big time scumbag and very clearly remember thinking, "Who cares how nuts he is? He's figured it out!"
  7. WHERE IS YOUR GOD NOW, JAKE.
  8. Man, it is genuinely astonishing for a team to act like a Jacque Jones signing is a jersey and press conference-type thing. The guy was objectively horrible for the two seasons right before he signed, and was middling before that except for the massively obvious outlier of him kicking ass 2002. That Hendry and the Cubs though signing him for 2006 was this big thing was beautifully insane.
  9. Nevermind that this is officially the greatest OF dad joke of all time:
  10. My dad still lamely jokes about the "all French outfield" the Cubs could have had between Marquis, Pierre and Jacque to this day. horsefeathers, he intentionally started calling Murton "Moo-tone" to try and make it sound French. Dad jokes.
  11. I appreciate that tree immediately recognized the greatness: But damn, now I wanna know what imb was talking about:
  12. And give us that thread link, dammit.
  13. [expletive]! That's now a lot more terrifying instead of whimsical. I guess tree adopted it like sulley ran with the thick onion gravy thing like a boss.
  14. If it was AramisFan my entire world is going to fall apart.
  15. I'm gonna read that like you're saying tree is Da Bum.
  16. The hot new market inefficiency is stocking up on cheap best buds.
  17. [tweet]https://twitter.com/DanPom69/status/1083137580269559808[/tweet]
  18. [expletive], that's easily the coolest bit of Cubs news in a long time.
  19. What’s the late inning strategy after the SP is out that having the DH prevents from happening? The AL still pinch hits guys in matchup spots, managers still use multiple RPs there. It’s pretty much just the stupid double switch and that’s it? Or am I missing something? The inflated sense of self-importance that can only be matched by submitting a blank HoF ballot.
  20. "Ah-HAH; they're going to actually miss out on that sweet, sweet pitcher offense" is not a thing that should be said in polite company.
  21. Last year, Cards were #1 in Pitcher wOBA and the Brewers were #3. This is an insane attempt at refuting my epic doom boner, and you know it.
  22. Plus it's a lock this will inevitably help the Brewers and the Cardinals more than the Cubs.
  23. Also: it makes the Cubs not signing Harper even more inexcusable.
