Why would you possibly post this.

Benefit of the doubt since it was a different thread, but this joke has run its course. Even I it hadn't, Reed Johnson's hitting .302 with an .804 OPS, so I assure you thy their will be some inquiries on him. He wouldn't bring back more than a Hunter Cervenka, or whatever the name of the 1B we got in the Theo trade was, on his own, but don't be surprised if he's moved with Dempster or Garza. FOR [expletive]'S SAKE, TIM.

This morning someone on the the Score referred to Rizzo as the "anti-Starlin Castro," as if Castro is indicative of everything that's been wrong with the team. Eat [expletive], the Score.

Guys, he raised his away OPS 164 points in three days (a big chunk of which is from him going 3-4 with 2 HR in a single game where Stephen Strasburg was the starter); clearly that's a trump card that cannot be argued against in any way, shape or form. Maybe he and LaHair can compare their "Leading the NL/MLB in OPS for several weeks" certificates and give each other high fives.

What the hell is an "ian lover?" And no, it's basically impossible for this to be an awful trade, because we're talking about Ian Stewart and Tyler Colvin.
  7. Sammy Sofa
    Yeah, that's the problem.
  8. Sammy Sofa
    Maybe in WSR-land.

Prooooooooobably not basing their decision to try and trade for him off of one game (and yes, I know the stretch he's gone through recently).
  10. Sammy Sofa
Hey, to me he's already made a big leap in his baserunning and defense. He's got plenty of time going forward to evolve his offensive game (which is probably why he's going through this stretch in the first place), so personally I don't see a reason to stress over this. Does it suck to watch? Sure, but when people say that they're "worried" I'm wondering what the hell they're worried about.

    You invoked His name.
  12. Sammy Sofa
    Guh.
  13. Sammy Sofa
No, not at all. Just sucks to watch. I think people were expecting a big leap this year, and while there's still time, right now his OPS is 30 points below his rookie season. I feel pretty certain he'll bounce back and put up respectable numbers overall though. Why were people expecting a big leap this year without any kind of bad stretches? He's not inhuman.
  14. Sammy Sofa
I mean, is anyone genuinely worried that he's regressing or something? That seems like it would be getting really worked up over nothing. Who seriously expected him to never have stretches like this?

Well, I said right there that I was more heartbroken over how it effected my dad. But that was the year where I started following baseball and getting baseball cards and playing teeball and such and stuck with it ever since.
  16. Sammy Sofa
Oh man, I haven't heard this yet. Have you heard this, or just anticipating it? Just anticipating it. It's inevitable that someone like Kaplan or Sullivan will bring it up if the White Sox keep winning.
  17. Sammy Sofa
Oooh, yeah, I'm not sure if I would have made it. I was only 5, but I remember it clearly because that's when my dad basically decided to make me a Cubs fan. With how the team was doing he started getting me baseball cards and going over the box scores in the paper and we'd watch tapes of the games sent to us (we lived in Panama at the time). I just went all in because of how passionate my dad was over it and remember being so heartbroken when I saw how much it destroyed him with how it ended.

The only thing that really bothers me about the White Sox having a winning season this year is the meatball response from Cubs fans/journalists who will look to Ventura as proof that the Cubs fucked up in not hiring Sandberg.
  20. Sammy Sofa
I'm not worried; a player as young as he is with the trajectory he's had is bound to have some rough patches as he develops. The upside is that during this slump he's actually showing more patience than before. Eventually things will even out and he'll ideally take another step towards being the player we hope/expect him to be. This is where having the FO the Cubs have can be so critical; they set the tone and philosophy as to how players are to be developed, and I really think that what we're seeing right now are growing pains as he's coached in the post-Jaramillio era.

Good point. Why can't people just behave?

ENOUGH. THE NEXT ONE THAT POSTS IS BANNED FOR THREE YEARS.

1984 was my first year as a Cubs fan. Almost put me off for life.
  24. Sammy Sofa
The [expletive]? Did gooney somehow take over both of your accounts?

This dude loves Romo like the Bum loves cheese.
