  1. I think only b/c Lou gave Barrett the day off. Murt dropped down to the six hole. That said, I'd rather see DeRosa hitting second if my options are he and Izzy. i have to guess the reasoning is that he doesn't want his best hitter out of the bottom third of the order to be his pitcher. i don't like that reasoning, but izzy really isn't an awful choice since he has been hot to start.
  2. I think Floyd will get the start in RF oh god i hope not. move derosa to right, put theriot at 2nd and bat him 2nd.
  3. The MLB.TV free trial is 5 days for EACH email address you have. So, if you have enough email addresses, you can basically watch the whole season for free. :D unfortunately, they're only offering it in April
  4. their rotation is pretty thin
  5. Sammy up with Teixeira on first pitch 1: long foul ball pitch 2: ball pitch 3: strike looking pitch 4: foul pitch 5: Ks swinging sammy looks much better standing at the plate than he did when he was an oriole...not quite translating to success though.
  6. Laird with a RBI single, 2-0 Rangers
  7. Sammy with a fluky RBI single.
  8. Sammy gets a nice cheer after catching a flyball.
  9. Boston/Texas is just about to start. announcers are off to a good start "you couldn't sign a player to a long term contract that is better than michael young on and off the field" SAMMY!
  10. Contingent on Carpenter's elbow being better now and him not suffering an injury, the Cardinals rotation will be far from makeshift. They have the second best rotation in the division contingent on Sheets being healthy. Awful bold statement. I think the Cards, Cubs, and Brewers will all be fighting it out for the tops in the division when it comes to pitching performance, but I would be reluctant to say that any of them are definitely the best or 2nd at this point. I do think the Cards biggest problem (assuming their offense comes around) is getting from the potentially good starting pitching to Izzy and hoping he holds up for the whole year. the brewers are pretty easily the best if sheets is healthy
  11. its almost like you want the cubs to lose just so you can say you were right about thinking they would suck. No I just am still bitter about the last 2 seasons, really hurt by watchin the White Sox and Cardinals win world series, and I basically refused to buy into Spring Training optimism like almost everyone else on the board did. I knew it would take more then one season to turn that sorry 2006 team around, but Hendry decided to throw tons of money at mediocre players, leaving the team in a horrible position financially for the next 4-5 years. Don't get me wrong, I want the Cubs to win every game...but they won't. They'll only win around 78 of them. yep we will only win 12 more games than last year with this team. Why is that so hard to believe? Our team OBP was completely not addressed in the offseason. I don't care what you saw in the spring, players don't just randomly get more patient, especially veteran hitters like most of this team is. Our starting pitching is a bunch of spare pieces who can only succeed if they all have career years. Bullpens, our only strength, are a crapshoot at best, which is way only the best relievers don't have up and down careers. Taking all of that into account... You think replacing the crap we had at 1B last year with a full season of Derrek Lee, Juan Pierre with Alfonso Soriano, along with significant improvements in the rotation (as bad as you think it may be this year, last year it was worse), only equals 12 more wins? obviously he does I do, I'm pretty sure the win shares equal something around there. I could be wrong though. fine. using Lee's 2004 (not his amazing 05) compared to Mabry/Nevin's 06, that would be roughly 13 wins. EDIT: adding in Derrek Lee's 06, that's still 8 wins. So I think somewhere over the course of other improvements, we'll pick up a few more than 4 more wins. Huh? Lee had 21 win shares in 2004, equal to 7 wins. Nevin/Mabry/Lee last year combined for 13 win shares, equal to 4.33 wins. The difference is 2.666 win improvement. right, which is why i deleted my post.
  12. i have watched it in the past, but it's dumb. my option is not there, so i was forced to choose the first one.
  13. That wouldn't work either. They use the zip code associated with your ISP to determine your market. So just find a proxy server to mask your IP address. Um, beam me up Scotty?? I have no idea how to do that. google search it. it's actually pretty simple if you have steps to follow.
  14. Cotts ERA: 0.00 Aardsma ERA: 3.00 we win!
