  1. Rangers finally get a win. They've played well the last two games, it was good to see them get a win this afternoon.
  2. Who is worth more to us, Veal or Marmol? veal by far, i would think.
  3. well, i think Vote for Ronny would be much better and much more fitting if you're going to frame it around Vote for Rory. Rory was a bad player, Ronny is a bad player. Rory sounds like Ronny. Rory was not a regular in the Canucks lineup, and neither is Ronny. we should all vote in Ronny Cedeno.
  4. I'll take sample size for 500, Alex. I'll take "Theriot has an unsustainable babip" for 1,000,000 We have a winner. Congratulations you just won an autographed cup from Adam Dunn! The problem is, you guys are talking about how things will even out toward the end of the season. The thing is, Theroit is getting his hits and contributing, RIGHT NOW. So you go with him until he stops being what seems like in the middle of every rally. My point? Take him out AFTER he goes 0 for 4 with no RBI's. Not before. So he should have been out today?
  5. I'm not sure you would want to do that. He was an amazing hitter off the bench last year, and it's obvious other teams fear him, considering that he's received 4 intentional walks to go with his 2 other walks. The 4 hitters who Ward was intentionally walked to get to-Soriano, Theriot (2 times), Barrett (Ward was pinch-hitting for Blanco, and so everyone knew that Barrett would pinch-hit for Izturis the next hitter, so I'm marking it as that). If teams are afraid to pitch to Ward, that can only help the Cubs. He's a decent bench option, but with how we utilize him he doesn't have a lot of value to the team.
  6. it won't be murton. i'm guessing they DFA Ward since he's utterly useless on this team. If you want to give Lee time off, put Floyd, Murton, or Jones there. Hell, put Blanco there if you absolutely have to rest Lee.
  7. to be fair, wainwright has a reputation for really struggling against lefties. In his career he has a 861 OPS against v. lefties (172 PA). I would like to see Murton in there, but if there is a game that he's not starting, this makes sense.
  8. here's the after-effect of the HBP on Hunter. http://minnesota.twins.mlb.com/images/2007/04/26/9jQquPob.jpg
  9. Sharks won. I usually catch the third period of their games for whatever reason...when they get a lead they absolutely stifle the opponent. Senators/Devils was the most entertaining game I've seen in these playoffs. Senators won.
  10. St. Louis trails 4-1 in the top of the 5th.
  11. Batting average is worthless. They had a pretty good one in 2006 or 2005 and it did nothing for them. 17th in average last year. 18th in average was the Phillies, and they scored 149 more runs than us. An example of timely hitting, of which the Cubs have rarely had any. It seems like any time we absolutely need a run we have some scrub up there like Lenny Harris or Cesar Izturis to weakly ground out or our free swinging K machine happens to be up there. Philly was 13th in the NL in AVG w/ RISP that year.
  12. Batting average is worthless. They had a pretty good one in 2006 or 2005 and it did nothing for them. 17th in average last year. 18th in average was the Phillies, and they scored 149 more runs than us. Don't look at all MLB, NL is what matters. Cubs were 5th last year and 3rd in 2003. right. still. the phillies. that was the point. i'm agreeing with you.
  13. i think any time is a good time to score runs.
  14. Batting average is worthless. They had a pretty good one in 2006 or 2005 and it did nothing for them. 17th in average last year. 18th in average was the Phillies, and they scored 149 more runs than us.
  15. prior has a medical staff? If you want to call it that... i don't think he wants to call it that.
  16. Sharks/Wings is on Versus at 7 EST. Senators/Devils is streaming live on Comcast Hockeylive at 7 as well.
  17. well, the first story is sort of true, but you have the facts wrong. The guy was throwing his pizza at another fan. If you really wanted to point out the classlessness of the fans, you should point out that A) a fan was being made fun of because he had a whole pizza pie in the stands (super classy) and B) that a fan (who is also very classy) threw his pizza at the fan who made fun of him. the youtube clip of the bosox announcers discussing it is hilarious. unfortunately it got taken down.
  18. he had a very similar performance last year against the Braves. he is a lot of fun to watch on the mound when he has everything working.
  19. Rangers/Sabres get their series going in a bit. If you can't tell from the sig...I'm cheering for the Rangers. Ducks/Nucks gets underway tonight. Part of me wants the Nucks to win because I hate the Ducks. The other part of me wants the Ducks to win because I would love to see a Ducks/Sharks WCF.
  20. it makes me think sulley is right when he says a lot of what lou says is "scripted".
  21. Wait... seriously? Hey, he won 3 Cy Youngs in my MVP dynasty! EDIT: He is also the only pitcher I got a perfect game with. his curveball is nasty. ANY lefty curveball is nasty. Only no-hitter I ever threw was with Jimmy freaking Gobble because of his curveball.
