  1. awesome. game on TV the day after my school year ends.
  2. well, putting Pie in the lineup against lefties only is setting him up to fail, which is not something most major league managers like to do -- unless your name is dusty baker and you always manage to set up your entire team to fail -- so I would say...put Pie in against righties in CF or RF and just let Jones play everyday since we don't have a better option in center against lefties (unless lou is willing to put Murt out in center). or just send Pie down, which is probably the best thing to do at this point.
  3. Why do the King fans hate the Red Wings so much. Is it the Marcel Dionne thing. Wait that is why the Wings should hate the Kings. The Wings are also the team that produced your guy Avery i don't really know. i just know that myself and a few other kings fans that i talk to online (not living in a place where there are major professional sports) sucks. I mean, they had Luc, they gave us Avery, we beat them in the playoffs in our most recent series win. Arbitrary hate I guess. We didnt give you Avery, we got Schnieder in return. We gave you Marcel Dionne i know. but dionne was before my time, so i'm not really worried about it. and pffffft avery > schneider 8-)
  4. tIn the second half of 06 he slugged 522 btw. and i can't find it now for some reason, but i know he hit righties a lot better than he hit lefties in the second half of last season as well.

  6. Ottawa over Buffalo in 7 Ducks (BLEH) over Wings (MORE BLEH) in 6. the western finals are pretty much a kings fan's worst nightmare.
  7. well this wasn't what i was expecting. the cubs have to be averaging the most innings per game this year. this is ridiculous.
  8. That's the only thing wrong with the article, and the one thing the original poster didn't complain about. The Cubs are a square peg round hole team. There's nothing ideal about anything they do. agreed. i don't think it's the smartest of articles, but there's nothing else wrong with it.
  9. The numbers are all close but keep in mind that the Brewers have played 2 more games. why does that matter if he's using rates?
  10. Just like he isn't hitting 410 this year, he isn't going to hit HRs at his current pace. What proves this? I mean, we know he won't hit .400 because his babip is unsustainable, but what is there that says that his power will come around? well his hr/fb rate is insanely low, more than half his normal rate. we know he's hitting the ball with authority, so it stands to reason that the HR will come with time. I'd imagine he goes on a tear sometime relatively soon unless he stops hitting the ball hard. Then again, we've been waiting for that tear for about 3 weeks now, so we'll see.
  11. i hope so. i don't know why you would want to keep the guy making a couple million for 2 more years over the guy making peanuts over the next several years. given the fact that their offense is comparable and any advantage jones has on defense is mitigated by the fact that he makes more money by a lot, it doesn't make sense to trade Murton unless there are absolutely no suitors for Jones -- and I doubt that's true.
  12. this is probably a good thing for them
  13. isnt Neil Walker their 3b of the future these days, or did they move him to the OF? i thought he was a catcher. i also thought he tore ligaments in his elbow but i can't remember any specific article that mentioned it.
  14. Couldn't help but notice all the empty seats in DET. That can't be good news for the NHL. 2nd round playoffs and only maybe 70% seats full in a charter city? Ouch. Sadly "the Joe" has a lot of seats sold to corporate interests. These tickets have always been a little thin on Sat day games. Also the concession lines at the Joe are brutal. Truthfully though I think there is a little Atlanta Braves syndrome in Wings fans. i think it's more that the tickets are way overpriced and detroit currently has a crappy economy. or that's what wings fans tell me. I went back and looked around at about the 10 minute mark of the 3rd period and there wasnt hardly any empty seats. I think it was more like 95%. With a 3 goal lead at the time that would explain some of the empties. Also all of there games are sold out. Have been since the early 90s. So that kind or negates the overpriced ticket crappy economy arguement they didn't sell out the first couple of playoff games

  17. booo that was an elbow on rob niedermayer booooo poor luongo.
  18. he's definitely improved since the start of the season, but i'm not jumping on this bandwagon yet.
  19. Howie, even though he's hurt right now.
  20. haha, i came to post the same thing.
  21. Atlanta? The Brewers are pretty damn good. I think the Brewers are an average team that had a hot month. you might describe every above-500 NL team with that sentence.
