  1. I've created a Facebook pool for everyone who wants in. Invites have been sent to anyone who is already Facebook friends with me, otherwise the name is "NSBB Pool".
  2. Defense is overrated. so are pitching and offense Now Beer...that's not overrated. Beer is disgusting. Chocolate milk is an underrated drink if there ever was one. This man speaks the truth. Also underrated: Orange soda.
  3. And some of you wanted to ditch Larry Rothschild in the off-season. It's just Dave Duncan pixie dust working a little later than expected
  4. My submission http://hitparade.ch/cdimg/van_halen-jump_s_1.jpg
  5. I can't wait to hear them again. Too bad I'm in class and can't listen :(
  6. ?? the pregame show has an intro song, they came up with a new one this year and its awful. I gathered that much, I'm curious what it sounds like.
  7. The Quinn stats came from an MSNBC article and he didn't give comparative stats for Russell. Here's my question: Would Quinn have this "sucks in big games" tag if his defense hadn't given up 42 ppg in ND's 3 "big games" last year? (I put quotes around "big games" because the definition of such seems to change to fit the arguments sportswriters make - if you don't think @GT and home against PSU and Purdue were big games, well...)
  8. Yeah, that's flat-out ridiculous. He doesn't have the highest OBP, but he's so good in SLG as to cancel it out to an extent.
  9. Nice! Thank bro! If you were a girl and I wasn't married I'd have your baby... Take it easy, Chris. Maybe stop talking for a while. Sit the next plays out if you know what I mean.
  10. I like Quinn and think he's the most sure thing of the QBs, but that blanket statement is a little too much in my opinion. I fully expect Quinn to have the better career. But he can't touch Russell talent wise. I see this as a situation similar to last year's with Leinart and Vince. Leinart was more of a sure thing, Vince had far more upside (but was less likely to be good). Except Young's upside came from unbelievable athleticism that Russel doesn't have at all. Size, strength, arm strength. And I do think Russell is a better athlete. I think Quinn is as polished as it gets as a college QB. How much better can he get in the NFL? Russell put up great numbers against better competition than Quinn and still has some development left. Quinn against defenses ranked top-35 in 2005-06: 2,301 yards, 18 TDs, 6 INTs in 9 games Russell against ranked teams for his career: 15 TDs, 17 INTs Russell against ranked teams last year: 8 TDs, 7 INTs

  12. Duke will finish .500 in conference if/when UNC beats them on Sunday. Luckily for them they played a strong out-of-conference schedule. BTW, Duke's a 5 in Bracketology. Which is complete crap.
  13. Acie Law seems like the type of guy that can throw a team on his back and take them to the Final Four by himself. Wow. I think that game proved that A&M is not going to go quietly in the tournament.
  14. I like Quinn better than Russell obviously, but I found this comment very strange. John Clayton on an interview on WTAE Radio in Pittsburgh - "If a team needs a QB and passes on Quinn, that's just stupidity."
  15. He ended up with 18, on 7-12 shooting. In the first quarter. The Bulls lead 31-28.
  16. Ben Gordon has 15 points in the 1st quarter against Golden State.
  17. No criticism that I know of at GT. The only worry I have (and this COULD fall on the QB at Tech) is that he disappeared at times during big games when he wasn't thrown to early. I have no idea if he was shut down, or if he was pulling a Randy Moss and taking plays off. as others have born witness, it was reggie ball who disappeared, not johnson. I mistakenly doubted Johnson but after the bowl performance against West Virginia - when he actually had a semi competent QB throwing the ball to him - I realized it was Ball who brought him down. It took you that long? I realized in the 2nd half of GT vs ND in the 06 opener that Calvin Johnson had been screwed over.
  18. Not only do they have one, the team is ranked 11th all-time in Division I history in wins :D Little-known fact.
  19. Is it pathetic that I currently care more about Ball State's women's team, which is currently on the bubble for an at-large NCAA berth, than our miserably bad men's team, headed for a 20-loss season? Also, it'll be really nice to watch the final ND regular-season game on Saturday without worrying about postseason fortunes (two years in a row on the bubble, then last year it was whether they'd even make the conference tourney).
  20. Panthers cut DE Al Wallace the other day. They also would stand to add $3M in cap room if they were to waive DeShaun Foster, but I doubt they will do that. Also of note, the Ravens waived Jamal Lewis today.
  21. It's a great day for all when that happens :D
  22. Your team only really lacks two things: a 2nd closer and a lockdown ace. And it's entirely possible that Hernandez or Haren may end up blossoming to fill the latter role. It's going to be especially tough to beat you at SBs. :D
