  1. I was planning on adjusting my trip back to school tomorrow to account for the ND/Oregon game...but I guess I won't need to worry about that now. The crappy part is that no matter how much I hate Winthrop, I need to root for them tomorrow for my bracket's sake.
  2. Thanks Pitino. Good timeout to set up a great play there at the end. For the 2nd time in three years, the Big East is making me look stupid by crapping out in the only four-day period that matters to the 'experts'.
  3. I'm glad Butler won - one of my main competitors in the money pool I'm in had the Terps going a round further than I did.
  4. Butler was my 2nd choice when deciding where to go to college, so I'm going to live vicariously through them. (It helps that no one had Butler in the Sweet 16, so my picking Maryland wouldn't hurt me.) And thank the Lord OSU won. That salvaged my bracket for now.
  5. I have a friend who has been picking against every team that just happens to end up choking or giving up a ton of offensive rebounds so far in this tourney. Needless to say, he picked Xavier to beat OSU.
  6. Update: I still hate Winthrop The Big East is not going to continue their performance so far (3-3) and the Big Ten won't either (5-1). Each conference will likely have two Sweet 16 teams though.
  7. :( I hope Oregon beats Winthrop by 150 Tory Jackson is nails. He pulled up and hit two triples in the game despite a bad shooting game overall. I love that guy. Brey, never run press with a slow team again.
  8. Alot of people thought they were overseeded at 4 to begin with. This isnt coming from me, just what ive read and heard. Yeah, Virginia at 4, considering how they ended the season and the fact that they didn't have a fantastic resume to begin with, was pretty ridiculous. In fact, VT and Duke at 5 and 6 was wacky too. GT needs to keep storming back - I have them in the 16.
  9. 11-5, with one Sweet 16 team lost. Duke is quickly entering Kansas/Kentucky/Syracuse territory for me - if I pick them to go long (in this case to the 16), that means they are definitely losing to the first team remotely capable of beating them. However, nothing else matters if ND can start a nice long tourney run tomorrow against Winthrop.
  10. Bilas is awesome. James Brown doing tournament games...not so much.
  11. It's all good, I have Purdue upsetting Florida, so I'm doing the same thing pretty much. One of my friends in my pool, who goes to Purdue, did the same. I can't stop laughing at the pick.
  12. I have A&M out to Louisville. GO PENN!
  13. Wooo Butler
  14. I had West Virginia out of that year and am convinced it would've happened had Texas not buzzer-beaten them.
  15. 2-1 so far with all my picks in this pod of games currently winning. I didn't pick ODU - seemed too obvious.
  16. The first 1 seed to go down will be Kansas, to Villanova. Somewhat regrettably, I have all of the remaining 1 seeds in the Elite 8, two of them in the Final Four.
  17. I picked Butler to make the Sweet 16 in 2003, easily my favorite pick ever. That same year I picked somewhat lightly regarded Syracuse to make it to the title game - they ended up winning it all. (I then destroyed that magic by picking them again two years ago and they went down in the 1st round to Vermont.) I usually don't go very out on a limb in my upset picks, and rarely pick more than one double digit seed to win multiple games, so I don't have many great calls.
  18. The Hoyas ain't no surprise for me - I've been in awe of them for some time now. Texas vs UNC, if it happens, would be an incredible Sweet 16 matchup.
  19. The Bulls are playing so well right now - and they have a long stretch of home games coming up. Their only road games remaining this month are at Memphis and at Indiana, both very winnable. Things are looking bright.
  20. Georgia Tech will beat Wisconsin on Sunday. UCLA 74 Georgetown 67 This is the most excited I've been for the tourney in years - even more than the last time ND was in it.
  21. UNC? They're in Winston-Salem. And I agree with you about Miami Ohio. I've seen plenty of MAC basketball this year and it was pretty pathetic, to say the last. What's real funny is how some people are saying Miami is actually going to upset Oregon. This must not be the Miami team that nearly lost to NIU at home earlier this year. UNC, however, also has Eastern Kentucky there, who doesn't have to travel all the way across the country. Well, I wouldn't be complaining if the Ducks went down. ND might score 150 on Miami. :D
  22. Oregon and Wazzou are the only two teams in the entire NCAA tournament who get to play near home in the first two rounds while everyone else in their pod has to travel all the way across the country to play. No point to that, but I thought it was interesting. Miami (OH) had no business a 14 seed. I've seen them play and they should have been in the play-in game. The MAC was a joke this year and the RedHawks weren't even one of the best teams.
  23. I always like to see people in my pools picking with their heart I have yet to incorrectly predict any bracket game that ND's been involved in, so I've got that going for me. Really, I'm just so excited. Finally, the Irish are back in the tourney, and for the first time since I've followed the hoops team they're playing their best ball at the end of the season. I think that Gtown Big East semifinal opened a lot of eyes.
  24. I love this - with a ton of experts picking Winthrop (except apparently Hubert Davis, who agreed with me and put ND in his Elite 8), there's no way we'll come even close to taking the Eagles lightly. :D BTW, schedules are now up on Sportsline if you want to see when your favorite team (or biggest upset pick) is playing in the 1st round.
  25. My major 1st-round upsets are Long Beach over Tennessee and GW over Vandy, with my 2nd round upsets being L'ville over A&M, ND over Oregon, Duke over Pitt, Villanova over Kansas and Ga Tech over Wisconsin. I ended up with a UCLA over Georgetown final, with Florida and Ohio State as the other Final Four teams.
