  1. The Irish jump back into the AP poll at 22 (although still behind Marquette who they just beat), and move to 17 in the coaches'. The last time ND was ranked this high was in December of 2002, where they went from unranked to No. 10 after a wonderful week in which they beat three top 10 teams (Marquette, then-defending champ Maryland, and Texas) in a seven-day span. Those were the days...
  2. Where's the chick GIF from?
  3. I believe you can only have one entry per Yahoo ID, but if you have more than one e-mail address you can probably create a different Yahoo ID for each of them. There are other contests besides Yahoo; I believe ESPN, CBS Sportsline, and Sporting News have similar contests (although I don't think you can register for any of those yet), and you can always have different brackets in different contests. It says each person can have 5 brackets on yahoo. Or, you could be like me, have one bracket, and win almost every group you join! :D (Ironically, of all the groups and pools I joined last year, the only two I didn't win were NSBB's Yahoo and Facebook pools.)
  4. If Illinois is as bad as the UI fans on this board are saying, I'd love that matchup. However, I'd prefer ND to play its way to a higher seed - a couple BE tourney wins might get them up to 4.
  5. Darius Walker ran a 4.57 40 (lower than projected) and pulled off a ridiculous 40.5-inch vertical leap. He probably cemented himself as a first-day pick and might even sneak into the 2nd round.
  6. Monday is my only TV night of the week. It used to be How I Met Your Mother, The Class and Studio 60, but with the last of those probably gone (replaced by the Black Donnellys tonight), it's just a one-hour thing. Although if I weren't busy on Thursdays, I would catch Smallville.
  7. Yeah, Oswalt/Carp is one of the great fantasy debates this year. I also have only one true closer (Wagner), although Otsuka was Texas's closer last year, so hopefully Gagne isn't healthy enough to take his spot.
  8. Ball State lost again 61-51 to Eastern Michigan. Ball State will lose 20 games this season, so much for Ronny Thompson.
  9. I'm Prior Warning. (I've been using that team name for every fantasy baseball league I've been in since 2003 - referencing Prior, of course). C - Ramon Hernandez 1B - Jason Giambi 2B - Tadahito Iguchi 3B - David Wright SS - Orlando Cabrera OF - Jermaine Dye OF - Scott Podsednik (accidental pick when I ran out of time) OF - Juan Rivera Util - Jim Thome Bench - Andre Ethier, Johnny Estrada, Craig Monroe SP - Roy Oswalt SP - Brandon Webb SP - Cole Hamels SP - Chien-Ming Wang SP - Kerry Wood (for some reason not eligible at RP) RP - Billy Wagner RP - Josh Johnson (for some reason eligible at RP) Bench - Akinori Otsuka, Jeff Suppan
  10. And JaMarcus Russell is a sure thing? Close to one, but look towards South Bend for another Russell is far from a sure thing. The hype machine really started rolling around him because of one game - the Sugar Bowl against a bad (sorry Andy but it's true) Notre Dame defense. He decided to go pro because the media was going crazy over his performance. Personally, I think Brady Quinn is the better QB and will be the better QB but I'm not sure if he's worth the number 1 pick. Sorry? Hell, I've been making the same argument ever since this whole JaMarcus crap started - anyone who says they saw anything but a QB who could simply loft the ball and watch his receivers go get it against that joke of a defense in the Sugar Bowl is lying to you. And he didn't even do that all that well. (21/34, 2 TDs, 1 INT) I think it's a borderline catastrophic idea to pick JaMarcus high.
  11. Samardzija was a White Sox fan, but his dad is a Cubs fan.
  12. Well, of course he can. I swear, no wonder the Pistons are 1st in the East if the refs rape their opponents this badly all the time.
  13. $#&^!#^!@%!^!@^#@%*$ OFFENSIVE BOARDS What are we paying you 60 million bones for, BEN????
  14. What a bunch of crap. Apparently you can just jump into the defender and get a foul called. I freakin' hate the Pistons.
  15. Thanks to another "we'll enforce the 'no bitching rule' if you're a Chicago Bull" technical on Ben Wallace.
  16. Bulls looking unstoppable.
  17. Big draft tonight! I can't wait.
  18. I'm not sure how on God's green earth a rational person with even a rudimentary understanding of stats can look at Ron Santo's career and not see a Hall of Fame induction. I doubt he gets in as well.
  19. Go under Profile, then choose Profile Settings. It should be in there.
  20. I'd like to thank Alabama for sucking. What is it with Notre Dame sports and all their "big wins" being devalued over the course of the season due to the team they beat falling well short of expectations? We're in, so it's a nonissue, but now I'd like a 5 or 4 seed if we can get it. Unfortunately, we'd probably have to make a run in the Big East tourney to have any chance of a 4 (although our RPI rating is rising).
  21. I view Calvin Johnson as the only sure thing in this draft, including Quinn. If I was Oakland, I'd either take him and trade Moss and/or Porter, or I'd trade down.
  22. Who cares about Simmons? Sports media sucks. I don't as it pertains to us. He doesn't know much of anything about the Bulls, and I like it that way.
  23. 85-73 win. Harangody with 22 and 13 (both career highs), Jackson with 21 (career high), Falls passes Gerry McNamara as the all-time leading Big East 3-point shooter, ND goes unbeaten at home for the season, clinches a bye in the conference tournament, and punches their ticket to the Big Dance. Needless to say, I'm happy :D Also needless to say, I'll be picking ND further than they'll probably actually go in the tourney.
  24. For those eBaying, I'd suggest setting the end of the auction as a weekday evening - more people online, therefore more nibbles. I'm waiting until Monday night to list them for that reason (7-day listing).
  25. It's complete crap that Simmons gave us an "F-infinity-minus" in his trade-deadline grades and made up some trade offer that never existed (Deng, TT, and the draft pick) for Gasol and said we should have done it. Even a modicum of research would have shown that Memphis was demanding two of our core, and Deng is as good as Pau right now IMO.
