  1. Hopefully you're right. I'll be busting out my Leprechaun Legion T-shirt (that's the clever name for ND's student section) and backwards ND green hat, as I do for all ND national telecasts. Actually, hopefully I'm wrong. Notre Dame is more than likely tournament bound. DePaul needs to play their way in by not losing anymore regular season games (and possibly doing well in the Big East tourney) Help a brother out! ND is far from a lock. They probably need 2 more wins to feel secure and with a game with Marquette and a game at the RAC (where we haven't won since the Troy Murphy Era) left on the slate after tonight it's not exactly a given. Plus, the committee has a reputation for screwing over ND teams that left any doubt at all of their worthiness. The Irish were left out two straight years with 9-7 conference records that were compiled in the ridiculous era of two games with Cuse, UConn and Pitt every year. All this is a roundabout way of saying we need to get that 4th seed in the Big East tourney before I can definitively say we're not sweating on Selection Sunday.

I'd forgotten which poster on here had an issue with backwards hats, actually. :D

  4. Damn it Jimbo, this better get done.
  5. national broadcast or no? ESPN2 at 7 ET.
  6. Two hours and 43 minutes till ND/DePaul and I have nothing to occupy me. I'm really nervous.
  7. I'm going to stick by the reasoning that because so many boomers grew up in the 60's that everything that comes out of that era is overromanticized. The 2004 team was better than the 1969 team. The 2004 team's collapse was far more ridiculous. The reason why it's "romanticized" is because it was first time the Cubs were in the hunt for first place in many many years. And yet there is one collapse and 2 playoff chokes that should be much more memorable that a team that faded with 2 months to go in the season. I know the others were closer but this was the first for many many Cub fans and you never forget your first. This is true. My first was 2001 (was only 11 and not into the Cubs yet in 1998) and I think about that team quite often.
  8. Yeah this is a big one for you guys and they're all huge from here. ND should immediately fire Mike Brey if he doesn't show the last 25 or so seconds of the Feb. 8th game on loop all day today to his team. Since the Irish have only two true road wins this year, it's imperative they stay unbeaten at home and get to 10 Big East wins. This is their 3rd game in 6 days, though, so I'm a little worried.
  9. ND is back in the coaches' poll at 23rd and is receiving votes again in the AP poll. DePaul tomorrow night and Marquette Saturday afternoon, both at home where ND is 16-0 on the year. If we're still unbeaten at home on Sunday morning I'll be very grateful (and ND will have their tourney bid all but sewn up).
  10. Who 'da thunk I'd trade LeBron and get better? Maybe I can make a run towards 4th place now...
  11. ND takes care of Cincinnati, 76-64, moving into a tie for that pivotal 4th spot (top 4 teams get a bye in the Big East tourney) and get their first 20-win season since the Sweet 16 year in 2002-03 - their first 20-win regular season in who knows how long. Next is a pivotal game against DePaul. A win would clinch a winning conference season. On top of that, ND should have revenge on their minds.
  12. When is it? The whole shebang started at 8 on TNT...I don't think they've gotten to the dunks yet though. They just had some sort of bizarre shooting stars competition that I don't know the rules of, but a "Chicago" team of Ben Gordon, Scottie Pippen and Dupree from the Chicago Sky beat a "Detroit" team of Chauncey Billups, Bill Laimbeer and Swin Cash from the Shock. Laimbeer, BTW, looked terribly depressing in a regular basketball uniform. And the Chicago team was DQ'ed because Ben shot out of turn. That figures. It's friggin criminal that BG's not playing in the game by the way. I've mentioned that before.

  14. Anyone going to watch the Slam Dunk tonight?
  15. And we lose 70-57.
  16. Some guy named Levi Dyer has 27 points for Illinois State. The Cards have rallied three separate times to pull within 3 in the first half, 2 in the 2nd half and 1 now but they keep choking once they get there.
  17. Skip Mills won't play tonight (concussion), meaning Illinois State may beat us by 100.
  18. What's the rest of the NL going to do?
  19. I co-host a radio show from 6-7 pm Sundays, so any time around there is out. Pretty much any time Saturday is good though, thought I'd throw it out there since everyone seems to be busy on Sundays.
  20. Welcome back, JC. Whether it was a hiatus or sabbatical, I'm done with it. Its good to be home. Too bad, suckers. Haven't had to break out that emoticon out since the last time your graced us with your presence. :D Welcome back! Despite my infrequent posting over the past few months, I still dominate you by way of number of posts. That is still the way you determine status around here, correct? Or, is it the amount of times you force people to eat crow? There's also the occasional vote to determine whether or not you're a true Cubs fan. What was the saying? "Not a real Cubs fan, just here for the chicken wings"?
  21. Marsha in a Hot Tub? I wonder if that's what Kerry's wife got him for Valentines Day. Marsha! Marsha! Marsha! why does it always have to be about Marsha? Because she's frickin gorgeous that's why. Yes, I went there.
  22. On a side note, two of my roommates next year are a Purdue fan and an IU fan respectively and it's hilarious listening to their back-and-forth
  23. I'd like to take the time to thank whoever was in charge of Bracket Buster matchups for this weekend for matching BSU (RPI: 238) with Illinois State (RPI: 129). Oh yeah, and it's a road game. Might as well hang up the 20-point L now. I thought the whole point of this was to seed somewhat closely related teams together?
  24. well.....tearing down the manual scoreboard and putting up a jumbotron would be a big step in the "ruining the mystique" direction. I think i would be more pissed if they replaced the organ with obnoxious piped in music than anything else. Penn State football games are nearly unbearable during pregame warmups, etc. The music is SOOOO loud. I'm pretty sure it's on some sort of historic register and can't be torn down. Like a good portion of Wrigley Field. And I wholeheartedly agree with Derwood. If they ever take away the organ music I'll lose my mind.
