  1. If Barrett had gone to the AL or to a bad team it would be addition by subtraction. In this case it sure seems like subtraction alone since he went to a playoff calibre team who might be taking the wild card out of the picture. What are you talking about? Barrett's been awful in SD for one thing, and for another, we're closer to the wild card than the NL Central lead right now.
  2. Attractive, but highly overrated. I can buy overrated since EVERYONE talks about her, but highly overrated might be stretching it. She's too attractive to be highly overrated.
  3. The Giants' lineup is putrid. Rich Hill needs to throw a shutout.
  4. how can you hate matt vasgersian? he's da len of the nl west. No, he's the moron of the NL West. I'd take anyone of the other West broadcasters over him, except perhaps the soul-sucking Duane Kuiper.
  5. I'm on the 'meh' side, but since that's not a choice, I lean closer to hot.
  6. Koyie's gotta be gone. He's two years older and no better than Bowen, making him reudndant on the roster.
  7. It was funny for a little while, especially the deeming of DeRosa as a future cage fighter, but by the end I was just waiting for it to be over.
  8. Hawkins was a complete ass to everyone who dared question his closing ability in 2004, he didn't earn any pity from me.
  9. This game should be on ESPN even for near-Chicagoans - there was a Monday Marlins game last year that was on WCIU/ESPN and it aired in my area.
  10. The pre-June Cubs lose this game. Something's happening here. If we can't figure out a way to lose to a soft-tossing lefty who owns us AND was red-hot coming into the game AND was staked to a 5-0 lead, I'm not sure when we will figure out a way to lose.
  11. Ugh, I forgot Rios, Braun AND Hanley (Hanley's on my fantasy team for cripes' sake). Kill me now.
  12. I'm playing a hunch and going with DeRosa.
  13. I have had more fun watching the Cubs since June started than I have maybe ever had in my life...let's just keep it going.
  14. Vance. But I had to literally think about it for like a day straight.
  15. it's unofficial, but ESPNews crawl says a "reported 2 year deal" He's 32 years old, played for Philly last year. 6'10", 225 lbs. 8.5 pts, 6.2 reb, 0.8 assts in 25 min/game last season. Nice bench option, but not the starting big man the Bulls need Hopefully Pax got him for major cheap. Smith is not going to make the Bulls much better.
  16. He's buying the Trib but selling the Cubs, I believe.
  17. Honestly. Could you imagine what kind of attention that would draw the game? Of course, mlb doesn't care. they're too busy taking down video highlights off youtube. Just look at how much attention it brought MLB in 2003 when the Cubs and Red Sox each made their respective LCS's. And how many of those people didn't hang around to watch the Yankees and Marlins.
  18. For all the talk about TLR being so desperate to win one for the NL, leaving Pujols on the bench in favor of Hudson and Rowand was plain stupid. If you end up in extras you can always move Fonz to CF and put Pujols in LF (he did after all say he'd play him 'anywhere' if need be). Hell, I wanted him to PH Pujols for Lee, too.
  19. I'm still calling BS. It's pretty damn near impossible for me to believe that Sammy had FORTY or more corked bats - I could maybe buy him having a few, but forty??
  20. The original post is now updated with Holliday.
  21. As I understand it, Rios is the one replacing Cabrera. The original lineup was 4 NL people and 3 AL people.
