  1. In 30 days I will be in Notre Dame Stadium against Georgia Tech to watch Quarterback X take his first snap. I'm so excited.
  2. Agreed, to all. I was there last night too and it was pure euphoria. You could've put a gun to my head and told me to frown while walking around Wrigley afterwards and I would've been a dead man.
  3. This will be day 1 of 3 of my annual 3-day Chicago-Wrigley trip. You won't hear from me until I get back late Wednesday, by which time the Cubs will be in first place. Let's go, baby.
  4. I'm not worried about St. Louis, for many reasons already stated.
  5. I'll take the silver lining, at least he got some K's.
  6. He's almost as bad as Pierre, but for some reason Sox fans think him a key cog in their lineup.
  7. I'd settle for just CSN. Won't be able to watch any part of this game unfortunately.
  8. If the Cubs matched the 2003 team's last 62 games, 91-71 would be the final record.
  9. No, we're not. I just read the article, and it's complimentary enough. And Mike Silver (who just defected to Yahoo Sports, BTW) at least uses the term "contract commitments" when he mentions the 300 million number, which is more tolerable simply because it is correct.
  10. Cubs are not going to trade DeRosa. How do you know? It would make sense for both sides as DeRosa is versatile enough to be useful to them when Utley returns. Do you have something to back up that statement, or is that just your opinion? It's just common sense. DeRosa has been a very valuable player for the Cubs this year. Much more importantly, he has 2 1/2 years left on his contract. I'd stake my life that the Cubs didn't trade DeRosa.
  11. This game's on CSN+, not CSN unless I'm mistaken.
  12. It's too bad that MLB mandates that you use a 5-man rotation in every playoff series. What's that you say? You only need to use 4 thanks to all the off days, and Marquis as the worst one wouldn't be starting? Well, slap my ass and call me Molly! BTW, how in the living hell does Soriano's ball not get out and Chris Duncan's mile-high pop-up carry out? And how the hell is this 27-year-old career minor leaguer destroying everybody?
  13. Haha, good point on Milwaukee. SD's got the best staff in baseball, though, and (still) one of the best closers. Gotta go with them.
  14. Ryan Braun now has more home runs than anyone on the Cubs. He's been up since May 25.
  15. Wow. I've been so concerned with catching Milwaukee I hadn't even considered the Mets. But that's pretty freakin' amazing.
  16. Yes it would. Well if they sweep the Brewers than maybe they are somewhat back in it The Cubs are 8 games ahead of the Cards themselves, remember. If we do what we should with Cincy this weekend (not a lock by any means considering their recent play and our inability to beat them when we need to) then all the Cards will be doing is lowering the deficit by a game or two.
  17. Win tonight moves us within 1 and could also potentially give us the wildcard lead with some help from the Astros. Let's bring out the http://www.carsoup.com/images/Research-1996/96grandmarquisls.jpg
  18. Eyre would probably still be our main setup man. There's no way Marmol would have as important a role as he currently has.
  19. I said this in another thread, anyone HOF-worthy should be in. The Hall of Fame is about the game's history and the best players who played it, not for withholding moral judgment on who should be in.
  20. The first part of my prediction came true - hopefully Marquis fulfills the 2nd part tomorrow. I love watching this team.
  21. I'm getting the feeling we win this easily tonight before Marquis's triumphant outing on Thursday gets the sweep.
  22. Glad to finally bring this back. :D Ryan put the Cardinals in the http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e67/ndistops/Dumpster.jpg
  23. Wow, I think this is the 1st new mod since I joined up. Congrats TT, well-deserved.
