  1. How the hell are we in first? BTW, I won't be watching this game, I'm going to a movie instead. Maybe it'll change our luck.
  2. Put it this way: Braun has done that over 365 at-bats, Ankiel has produced in 81 at-bats. Sample size will skew things like that. For example: In 67 at-bats in 1998, a 26-year-old by the name of "Shane Spencer" hit 10 home runs, sporting a 1.321 OPS in that timespan. What Ankiel is doing is not unprecedented. I know he's doing it in 81 ABs, I was just mentioning it. I don't think we're as mad about Ankiel because it was supposedly unprecedented as we are about the fact that what he is doing was so motherfreaking predictable.
  3. To put Ankiel in perspective, Ryan Braun is having probably the single greatest rookie campaign in the history of baseball, and Rick Ankiel's OPS is higher than Braun's.
  4. I think we just saw why MTSU didn't go for two. They're only down 16 now.
  5. I think if he turns into Babe Freaking Ruth as a hitter he's DQ'ed.
  6. The Brewers' next ten games are against the Pirates and Reds. This season is OVER. Our next ten are against the Pirates, Astros and Cardinals. We've owned the Cardinals this season and the other two suck terribly. If we're even remotely playoff-caliber we'll win 6 or 7 of those.
  7. Must be nice for other teams to know that our prospects are guaranteed not to succeed.
  8. I disagree. Most of the players on this team should be boo'ed constantly, and even the good ones should be boo'ed when they screw up. He's done a fine job, but he just blew a big game in an embarrassing way. BOOOOOOO!!! Yeah, real embarrassing to give up a single, a ball Lee probably should've had for a force out, and a wind-aided homer. Give me a break.
  9. See, fans, that's the crapstain you should be booing.
  10. Dempster should not have been booed. He's been fantastic most of this year.
  11. this season IS over. You think the Cubs are going to hold off 2 teams with them blowing leads and not scoring runs? Their offense has been sleeping for a month. This season is over on September 30th. Until then, we're still the best of the 3 crappy teams vying for the division.
  12. Dempster's been great. This was overdue. It just blows it had to come in a game like this.
  13. It is ridiculous. Though in all fairness if the Cubs had played the way they should have to this point we wouldn't have to worry about them.
  14. Yep. Our big 3 are the only ones who have more on the team this year. (Barrett had 9 if you want to count him.)
  15. Rick Ankiel has as many or more home runs as all but 3 current Chicago Cubs this season.
  16. Marmol/Howry and Dempster can close this baby out.
  17. Sweet lord that was awesome. <3 Fonzie
  18. Ridiculously biased I may be, but Mark Prior without his issues has to be in the discussion.
  19. Lowe leaving helps our chances of not GIDPing here
  20. Ah HA! I was wondering what Kurtis's voice sounded familiar for...he was the voice at the beginning of Anchorman.
  21. Geez, the Dodgers look bad, and I can't figure out if that's because of Marquis or not, but they haven't even come close to making really good contact.
  22. It's worth noting that Marquis's ERA coming into today was only .31 higher than Lilly's coming into last night. He's been pretty solid.
  23. I hate watching him on the bases however. Damn MLB.TV delay had me posting that as he was picked off.
  24. Geez, I just love watching Ward at the plate.
