    I don't think a poll's coming out tonight, so use this thread as discussion for the Monday games as well. I assume the poll will come out Tuesday, at which point the 9/8 thread will go up.

    There will be a poll released tonight, right? If so I'll have the 9/8 thread (including Monday games) up around 9ish. BTW, nothing that happened yesterday dampened my pick of LSU to win the national title. They should dispatch VT fairly easily in Baton Rouge next week.

    The only bad thing about this is that when they kill us (which will push us to 0-3 by the way, because there's no way in the world that we're beating you guys next week), it'll be doubly depressing. I think Georgia Tech deserves some credit. I really think they are going to be a surprise team this year. I was really impressed by their defense and Offensive line. Man they would easily be a Top Ten team if Calvin Johnson had come back Oh, all the credit in the world. They made us look flat-out stupid out there. If they play even remotely that well the rest of the year they'll sleepwalk to the ACC title.

    With college FB season pretty much down the toilet for me, I'm glad to see the Cubs remain atop the division. They might be all I have for a while.

    We ARE ND! They're the most over-hyped over-ranked team almost every year since Knut Rockney. What did ND start off ranked this year? 2005 (9 wins)? 2002 (10 wins)? 2000 (9 wins)? 1998 (9 wins)? Oh. Right.

    It's been a while since I went from cloud nine (Michigan losing to App St) to hell (the rest of the day in ND Stadium) so quickly in college football. Honestly, the 1st sure win I see on ND's schedule is Duke on November 17th. Jimmy better as hell be starting next week. DJ apparently can't pass and Sharpley has no concept of how to evade the pass rush. I mean, Evan really looked like ass. Jimmy at least looked like he had a future out there. BTW, loudest cheers in ND Stadium today: T-1. Michigan final announced T-1. ND comes out of the tunnel 3. Demetrius makes debut 4. Jimmy makes debut Warrants mentioning.

    The Demetrius Jones era begins in five hours. I'm pumped to see him take the snaps.

    2000 with Cleveland: .871 OPS 2004 with Milwaukee: .849 OPS 2005 with Milwaukee: .868 OPS I point this out because these are his best three years in the majors. He has gone over .330 in OBP once (2005). Gone over .500 in slugging twice (last time 2004). His OPS+ has been better than 100 4 seasons in a row, counting this year (he's at 104, unbelievably enough). If this sounds like the crafting of a post for the "Cardinals get great production from bad players" thread, well, that's because that's exactly what it is.

    You do realize Barrett has been totally worthless since leaving the Cubs right? I wish we'd have gotten more than Bowen, but trading Barrett away looks to have been a damn good move from where I sit. This one wasn't a good move, but as has already been said, Moore and Cherry had next to no chance to be big club contributors anyway.

    Miami (OH) 14, Ball State 13. Sigh. I could type a million words about this game but no one would read it. Suffice it to say Miami won because they played slightly less crappy and made slightly fewer indefensibly bad coaching decisions than we did.
