  1. ND dispatched DePaul 98-91, staving off a 60-point half by the Blue Demons in the 2nd frame. Harangody had 24 and 9 while Kurz added 21 and 7. The win officially locks up a 1st round bye in the Big East tourney.
  2. For the sake of all the viewers please limit the Big Ten to the 4 top teams in the tourney. Florida shouldn't be in either honestly.
  3. Between Ewing's goaltend/not goaltend, the insane foul on Nova, and what just happened now, Georgetown has to be one of the luckiest teams in college hoops this season. I guess they deserve some credit though - they're a home win against Louisville away from winning the Big East outright. ND pretty much clinches a bye in the Big East tournament - they might stumble once in the DePaul/St. John's/USF trio, but not twice.
  4. Georgetown can thank the gods of fate if they escape with this one. Jonathan Wallace banks in a 3 as the shot clock is running out on a wild shot.
  5. Whoever wins the Big 10 tourney probably gets a 3, whoever that team beats probably gets a 4, and whoever of the big three doesn't make the final gets a 4 or a 5. Just my .02. I think L-Ville is a 2 as long as they make the Big East final, G-Town is a 3, and UConn and ND both deserve a 4, but I think one of them (and it'll probably be us) gets shuttled to 5. As for Indiana teams, I'd be surprised if any are still standing in the Elite 8, but all of them are Sweet 16 caliber. Of the teams I'd say IU has the best chance to win three games because they have the best pair of players of any of the teams.
  6. Wow, 3rd and 5th rounders isn't a bad haul for Jenkins. He isn't really very good anymore. I like what the Panthers are doing so far this offseason, I just hope they bring in some good FAs and a good draft to top it off.
  7. Damn, damn, damn. I'd heard talk that he'd explore his options and I wanted him to leave like none other. Here's to Anderson being Derek Anderson again next year and Quinn getting his shot.
  8. Now that they are finally healthy, the Cards are going to be a tough team to beat. Your team better learn how to play D. You guys are great on offense but your defense is going to cost you in the NCAA's. Ordinarily we are much better on defense...Brey came out in a zone for some odd reason and it failed miserably. There's really no reason for us to play zone unless Luke Zeller (who can't defend bigs by himself) is on the court, because all the other guys we have are decent if unspectacular on the ball defenders. I'm not too worried. For a while now I've been looking at ND as a Sweet 16-caliber team, maybe Elite 8 if they get the right draw, but not more than that. Should be a fun March.
  9. Not the height of comedy or anything, but it's nice to see the Fukudome having no problems blending in with his teammates. I'm pumped for the season.
  10. I don't see how I don't take you guys to make the Final Four. Those first twelve minutes or so were utterly dominant. Made us look like fools. Very impressive.
  11. 85. JJ Putz 86. Takashi Saito
  12. 73. Dan Uggla 74. Gary Sheffield 75. Jonathan Paplebon 76. Daisuke Matsuzaka 77. Hunter Pence 78. Tim Lincecum 79. Rich Hill 80. Nick Markakis 81. Rickie Weeks 82. Kosuke Fukudome 83. Kenji Johjima
  13. ND loses to Louisville 90-85, never once led in the game and it wasn't that close (Hillesland hit a 3 pointer at the buzzer). Not a surprise to me at all. What was a surprise was Luke Effing Harangody. 40 points, 12 rebounds, and he even drained three triples, his first three of his career, towards the end. What a ridiculous performance.

    The NBA thread

I really hope Hinrich is eventually the one that falls out of favor. Granted, sample size, but the Bulls' offense has been much better the last few days when Hinrich is not on the court. I dig the free-flowing, anyone can touch the ball, just find open guys offense. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season. Hughes + Gooden + more minutes for the young guys has equaled a much more fun to watch and frankly much better Bulls team.
  15. You wont be saying welcome home very long, hes a shell of his former self. Anything is better than the cesspool of crap that was anyone in the receiving corps not named Steve Smith last year.
  16. Read last night that Trevor Laws out-repped Sedrick Ellis of USC - sort of killing Major Knock No. 2 on Laws, his strength. Major Knock No. 1 is height, but I would love Carolina to take Laws in the 3rd or 4th round if he's there.
  17. Ludicrous, the Cubs would still outdraw the Sox, and by a fair margin.
  18. Welcome home Moose!! Muhammad has been signed by Carolina, and David Carr has predictably been dumped.
  19. So you can use your 3-seconds-ahead feed to ruin everything again?
  20. Jackie Moon: I'm not familiar with the metric system, or any other foreign languages.
  21. I would probably opt to go to St. Louis or Milwaukee for a trip rather than go to the Cell. I could see going there for Cubs/Sox but I just don't want to be there otherwise.
  22. My guy says the deal is done but the Cubs want to give Yao's injury its proper attention.
  23. I agree with you louky. I'm looking at Thursday's game as a probable loss for us - the good thing about it is that it's at L'Ville, so unless ND gets completely reamed, it won't be looked at as a bad loss. I think you definitely deserve at least a 3 if you win out, and if you hit the finals, you're definitely a 2. I'm not sure why the Cardinals are so underrated nationally (in particular, why ND is ranked ahead of them in the coaches' poll). On the flip side, if ND wins the game and then beats the crap teams (DePaul, St John's and USF) to finish the season, that'd be 25-5 (15-3) and would have to be at least a 3, meaning the committee would probably give ND a 5 and ship them to the West Coast to play against the best 4-seed. Either way, Thursday's game promises to be the best of the year in the Big East.

I'd be a lot more confident about saying it if Houston had another decent big man, but could they have Ewing Theory potential without Yao? Just throwing it out there.
  25. Sigh. I don't know about this.
