  1. Did you watch them clinch at a bar afterward or something? I remember it being a good while after our game ended... Well, I didn't see us clinch, no, I heard it go final on the drive back, but they were losing late when I left, so I had a good idea.
  2. I went to Cincinnati for last year's clinching game. It was a good time. Should be - of course - a lot of Cubs fans at Wrigley Slightly South.
  3. Put the Phillies in the http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e67/ndistops/Dumpster.jpg
  4. This is the best sports team I've ever followed on a day to day basis. And it's not even close. Let's keep it up tomorrow...I'm curious right now as to how many W streaks of 5 or more we have.
  5. and depressing to know that if we go 2-3 in the first round of the playoffs, the season is over. I considered adding that to my post but I didn't want to come off pessimistic. That does scare me though.
  6. wat? Is the hatred really that strong? It's the same completely irrational thing that makes me want to not see the White Sox if we make it to the World Series. On paper, I know full well that the Cardinals and White Sox would be the best matchups in our favor we could hope for, but I still fear what happened the last time each of those clubs made the postseason. I know I'm wrong for thinking this. Would the Sox be the best matchup for us in a potential World Series? I'm not saying they wouldn't, I just haven't thought about it enough to agree/disagree. They have some serious mashers, a solid yet not dominant starting staff and a good bullpen (with Linebrink) I guess there are those who think the Angels would be a better matchup for us. I can see either. I can maybe even see the Rays despite this year's results.
  7. Brilliant. I went with Pierzynski, Luckwick, Ankiel, Hawkins and Hart.

  9. I still don't particularly want the Cardinals to win these games. I won't shed tears if they do, though.
  10. Scored the most, allowed the least. It's kind of mind-blowing how much better we are than the rest of the league.
  11. Two days until Ball State football starts. I can't believe I'm saying that I'm jacked up for a Ball State football season. NCCubFan, dougdescenzo, photoguy, if you make it into this thread and are interested in listening to the game, WCRD.net (the student radio station I worked for until May) does free webcasts.
  12. Luis Montanez got the game-winning hit in a game played three months before his major league debut.
  13. 81-50, Magic Number 27, best team in baseball.
  14. Sac fly (not far from a homer), and a bases loaded single.
  15. So I leave with 1 run, come back with 10 and 3 Jimmy XBH's. That'll work. Although Ted can really stop giving up homers.
  16. Do we have any flame-out prospects that we could trade for him? I think Pie's value is still too high for that.
  17. I'd rather Notre Dame beat Michigan. The whole 'bad team beats Michigan' thing was fun last year until Michigan turned around and handed us the most depressing beating in the history of football. But it's Michigan. and Utah isn't a bad team. Well, neither was Appalachian State, but often perception is more real than reality. I won't shed any tears for Michigan if they lose, obviously. But more than anything, I want to beat those guys. If they lose to Utah then crush us again (at a game I'll be at), it means nothing to me that they lost to Utah.

  19. :rotfl: Wow, I could almost understand it if that letter was from when they hired Dusty. But it's from this month. How can they possibly still use this as a selling point? Entering today he was at .523, and if he stays with the Reds much longer he'll go under .500 for his career (105 games over entering today).
  20. On Cubs.com they have some video of it. He was getting a great reception. It was right up there with Pie and Ward's homers this year in terms of making me happy for the guy as much as for the team. I hope he can keep that up. Even if he can get back to decent, it'll really give the Cubs a shot in the arm.
  21. Ankiel is on there under "all of the other Cards." You can only list so many people on one poll, can't make everyone happy. Gary Sheffield and Manny Ramirez have much less business in this poll than Rick Ankiel. A slew of others could be eliminated too, certainly Edmonds.
  22. Add Rick Ankiel. He's #1 on my list.
  23. Ugh. I hate horrible umpiring and I hate AJ Pierzynski.
