  1. Of course the nut bar stumbles around like a drunk doe the entire time that ball is in the air but makes the catch anyway
  2. Someone, maybe even on here, noted that if we had just signed Eovaldi instead of Taillon at similar money and done nothing else differently this team would probably be in buying position.
  3. What an honor to have the back-to-back-to-back AAU national champion on our site.
  4. Had to dig deep for Braves/Angels, but pulled off the immaculate today.
  5. I've certainly enjoyed the Alzolay closer experience, and it'd be nice to have a key roster spot not be a giant gaping hole going into 2024.
  6. I for one am shocked that making no effort to actually get Goldschmidt out with Arenado on deck didn't pay off
  7. I've only heard her do it a few times but I am suuuuuper done with Elise Menaker referring to a home run as a "bombski"
  8. Friends and I joke that we've seen incredibly random Cubs player homers in person despite how few games we actually go to (I saw Andres Blanco and Carlos Gonzalez both hit their only Cubs home runs, for instance), and anyone at today's game is right up there.
  9. In broad strokes, MLB's supposed parity problem is no problem at all. I remember going back over the 10 seasons between 2012-21 during the lockout last spring, and in that time only 2 teams were never what you'd call a championship contender. One was Philly, who missed the cutoff by one season after winning 102 games in 2011, and the other was Miami, who almost doesn't count because they've rarely ever even tried to be a real major league franchise. That's not the case in the NFL, the supposed parity model, and the NBA couldn't even dream of that kind of statistic. The issue isn't that no team can ever dream of being good, it's that in each individual season, several fan bases essentially know they're hosed before it starts. But I don't know if there's any finances-related solution to that.
  10. Imagine my joy at pulling up the radio stream of today's game (since I can't watch the game despite paying for MLBTV) to find that Pat and Ron are both gone and some monotonous nothing is calling the game. ETA - I realize now that Pat is getting his Ford Frick award this weekend, so that's probably why they're both gone. Lousy timing to have an Apple game.
  11. This isn't the first day game on Apple. An early-season game against Texas was also paywalled.
  12. So very predictable that these idiots would help St. Louis out. Feels like it's practically our mission statement at times.
  13. I got screwed up twice today because I didn't realize Jose Quintana hasn't actually freakin' pitched for the Mets yet. I ended up only getting 5/9, I think that might be the first time I've failed to get at least 6.
  14. I hold no illusions of legit getting back in the race but it would be nice to clobber STL a few times over this next week and a half.
  15. I'm rapidly closing in on posting on NSBB for half my life, so it'll be nice to bore some different people with my nonsense.
  16. 7/9 today, I don't know anything at all about the Twins. What I've seen from the 'most popular' squares when I miss indicates to me that I've pretty much memory-holed a ton of baseball since about 2018.
  17. I didn't fill the grid today but I pulled Tom Gordon out of my butt for NYY/PHI so that was fun.
  18. Just get rid of everyone and try again. I'm sick of this crap.
  19. Theo followed 3 crappy seasons with the best 3 season run any of us were alive to see. Anyone think Jed has that in his future?
  20. Well, sure, why not when you've got all that money you didn't spend on literally horsefeathers anything related to your baseball team
  21. Today's was relatively easy for me. I almost screwed myself by putting an obvious choice for one square into another that had easier alternatives, but luckily was able to make up for it. Set a new personal best rarity score too.
  22. Oh thank God, I was so looking forward to having Higgins back
  23. Lucky that Chang didn't catch the ball cleanly. It was probably the right call to let it stand but very close.
  24. Amaya could never deliver such a professional AB
