  1. What a load of crap. http://awfulannouncing.blogspot.com/2008/09/cubs-fans-are-afraid-of-dick-stockton.html
  2. So luckily, the 10 pm Cubs start means that my previously scheduled Saturday of going to the Notre Dame game and later listening to see if my alma mater can go 6-0 for the first time since 1965 can proceed - the only alteration is a premature ending to that last part. Both ND and Ball State are much better than their opponents and should win rather easily. BSU will likely jump into the polls for what I believe will be the first time in school history with a victory.
  3. Lord. How am I gonna make it to Wednesday? At least I get to watch it...I get home from work by 6, giving me a half hour before the game starts.
  4. This will probably get me flamed, but I'm rooting for you guys in the NLDS. A Cubs/Brewers NLCS would be epic. It really would be. It would be fitting. I cant even think about that right now. I cant belive I was crying like a baby. I just listened to Pat Hughes home run call on Brauns homer and he had a little excitement to the call which was really cool to hear. He used to work for the Brewers, so it'd be understandable that he'd be happy for them. Best of luck vs Philly.
  5. Cubs win in 4, with Z's game being the only loss and the board continuing to be nervous about him heading to the NLCS, hopefully against the remains of CC and Milwaukee.
  6. A whole bunch of games that will be ignored in favor of Game 3 of the NLDS... 7. Hey, Derek Anderson is still absolutely horrible at football but Cincinnati is even worse, which means he'll probably still be starting in Week 6 when Cleveland plays again. And Carolina not only won but actually played well doing it. I'm confused.
  8. LOL at Notre Dame not even receiving a vote in the AP poll after all the cracks I heard yesterday from friends about them being undeservedly ranked this week. The voters are smarter than you think they are. What I do not like is that we are going to beat Stanford, which means absolutely nothing, next week and will receive votes. And Ball State will be ranked when they beat Toledo next week. I don't see how anyone besides the Cards can stop them from scoring 40 points the rest of the year, Nate Davis is a machine.
  9. We had a keeper league going last year but I doubt anyone will continue it. Seemed like no one was paying attention by about January.
  10. I think I'd prefer the Angels.
  11. I missed Game 3 of the NLDS and Game 4 of the NLCS in 2003 due to having to cover my high school's football team for our little TV 'news show' that we did in high school. I did bring a portable radio to listen to the games though.
  12. My first baseball game was at old Cleveland Municipal in 1987 and I was about 7 months old. The Tigers beat the Indians 13-3. I only know this because it was in my baby book. My first Cubs game was May 5, 2000, at Wrigley against Pittsburgh. Sammy Sosa and Eric Young both hit solo homers, but the Cubs lost 4-2.
  13. Wow, who knew USC losing would start a whole bunch of arguments? :D
  14. it's more like 0% or undefined since classes start next week. Ok, seriously, can I go to a Pac-10 school? Seems like they all start insanely late.
  15. Over/under is installed at 40 percent attendance at Oregon State classes tomorrow.
  16. WOW. What an upset.
  17. Betting on Carolina in a survival league is never a strong plan because they are completely capable of being blown out by anyone in the league...but I hope you're right.
  18. Sweet. Just picked up a bleacher seat in Sec. 301 for Game 5. If any NSBBers will be in that area we should party.
  19. I think "drunk" is going overboard in describing Yeatman's situation as I have read that he only blew a .02 that night. That said, since it's his 2nd violation i'm not very optimistic in his return. From all accounts Fauria doesn't seem ready so I guess the offense will only become more predictable using an extra tackle as TE in running situations. Hopefully the Irish can still pull off the win and finish September 3-1 which would be what I was optimistic for. I too will be in Muncie for Ball State's homecoming and can't wait to see this team. Any word on whether Dante will be out of the hospital and if they plan on doing something for him before/during the game? Saturday shapes up to be a pretty good day with drinking starting at 9a.m., BSU game at 12, back to the hotel for ND, then out at some bars to watch the Illini game. Dante will probably be released from the hospital this week (may have been for all I know). They're picking out rehabilitation centers for him, and I haven't heard any word of whether he'll be around for the game. I hope he is. That'd be big. Ball State should destroy Kent State. The Flashes gave up 667 yards offense - 414 rushing - to Louisiana-Lafayette last week. Big day for MiQuale Lewis, I'm guessing. I'll be headed to BW3's after the BSU game to watch ND.
  20. By contrast, the Twins fans are going utterly nuts right now in the White Sox game.
  21. Should've just let him pitch to Endy. Stupid idea to throw off his rhythm.
  22. Good job, Jeff. Probably a good idea to start him in AAA next year.
  23. In fairness, Aramis hasn't done a whole lot to earn it the last few weeks.
  24. if it makes you feel better, your offense sucked anyway. That rarely matters against Purdue. No TE's limits what we can do severely.
