  1. I don't care what Lou does if they win it all. I don't care what anyone does. I probably won't for at least a few years. It'll take me at least 2, 2.5 years to sober up. I seriously cannot imagine truly being too frustrated with anything Cubs for about 2-3 years after they win. The same holds true for any of my teams really, but the Cubs especially for obvious reasons.
  2. ...don't exist. Yeah, Len doesn't even do it very much, and you can tell that privately he is probably a SABR guy.
  3. I hope we get Orsillo. He knows his stuff. If not, (and I can't believe I'm saying this) the Brewers' guy would be fine. He's actually pretty good. Though I imagine they'll put him in the AL to avoid any perception of bias. Please, please no Dick Stockton though.
  4. ESPNEWS playing in South Bend...awesome
  5. I love seeing stats like this. Reminds me just how rare and wonderful this season has been. What a ride.
  6. Question for journalism majors. Why is that part in brackets? Whenever I see this in a quote, I assume that those are words the player didn't actually say, but implied. But if he doesn't say that part in the bracket, the sentence makes no sense. They sometimes do that when the quote is not fit to print. Maybe he said "that pisses me off a little bit". Doubt they would print that but need the reader to understand what he is saying so they fill in something more acceptable and put it in brackets so you know it is an edit. Yeah, he definitely said "pisses me off". I've seen that brackety stuff used before to cover obscenities, most often in Sports Illustrated.
  7. The great thing about the NL this year is that we will pretty much do both at once. In fact, we potentially could do both at once if, say, we lose one of the next two games and Philly does the same.
  8. I really think Marquis will get on. He's been borderline good of late and I have a feeling the long relief role would work ok for him.
  9. Bravo! =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> More or less what I was going to say. Great post.
  10. I got to see the clincher (in a manner of speaking - MIL was losing when I left GABP) last year...the same won't hold true this time around unless someone gives me free tickets. :(
  11. And we will still not have played KC since 2002. STL will have played them like 42 times since the last Cubs game against them by the end of 2009.
  12. Hahahahaha. Color me confident.
  13. Well, this is a bunch of [expletive].
  14. @ CLE @ KC vs. DET @ MIN Were we really @KC? The last time I remember playing them was 2002 and it was at Wrigley. The only other year that we've played the Central since was 2006 and we missed the Royals that year.
  15. Let Milwaukee's soul-sucking collapse continue. Put the Brewers in the http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e67/ndistops/Dumpster.jpg
  16. I'm pretty sure most Sox fans basically think of him as their Ron Santo - they know he's not the best, but he's theirs.
  17. Ron will get in regardless, but I want to see it happen while he's alive. HOF voters (and for that matter every kind of voter) have a bad habit of not giving a crap about anything until someone passes away, and Ronnie deserves to have an induction ceremony.
  18. I have a feeling Adrian Peterson is going to destroy us. We were only able to somewhat contain LT and Forte, and Peterson is just a whole different animal (physically speaking). Smith's back, though. Hopefully that means an offense that scores touchdowns before the 4th quarter.
  19. I'm feeling the same way for lambasting the Panthers for taking Stewart over Mendenhall at the moment. This is a hell of an entertaining game.
  20. I thought that was against the Reds. One was against the Reds, I think the other was against a different team (Pittsburgh or Milwaukee I want to say). ETA: Yeah, Lieber one-hit the Reds, then Wood one-hit the Brewers the next day. Those games were in the middle of our 12-game streak.
  21. I'm buying this movie regardless of what happens from here on out. There's too much Cubby goodness from this season that needs to be savored and resavored.
  22. Ever-smart Lou is throwing Jason Marquis in this series to try and help you snatch one of these games and sneak into the playoffs so we can play the Dodgers.
  23. I wasn't a Cubs fan in 1998 when Wood had his game and even if I was I wouldn't have understood the significance, since I was 11. This kicks ass.
  24. I like having nothing to worry about. I'm at work and would've been a little disappointed if I'd missed all but 6 outs of back to back no-hitters.
  25. All three of my football teams won, the Cubs reduced their magic number by like 5 without even playing more than once, and CARLOS ZAMBRANO THREW A MOTHER FORNICATING NO-HITTER. This is the best sports weekend EVER. GO CUBS GO!
