  1. It will look remarkably similar to the listless 41-10 beatdown that we took to mark the end of the Tyrone era. It may be a decade-plus before we beat USC again.
  2. Gross and Rosario both jump for back to back false starts then we run on 2nd and 24 and almost get safetied. Good job, Carolina.
  3. FREAKING Panthers defense...31-21. This makes just about every game the rest of the year (all of whom are against teams just as good or better than the Falcons) a must-win if we want to win the South.
  4. How many freaking 3rd and longs do you let a rookie QB convert?????
  5. Carolina races right down the field for a TD, on a 12-yard Jake Delhomme scramble no less. And they get the 2. 24-21 Falcons. Damn, this is exciting.
  6. Clearly we had to pull back within 17-13 before letting Atlanta regain control of this game. Now it's 24-13.
  7. Nice effing clock management, John Fox, you clown. We should be down 4 or tied but Carolina has screwed up two straight drives.
  8. Charles Godfrey forces a fumble, Carolina drives it to the 1, commits a false start, and kicks a field goal.
  9. Western Michigan is right there with Central and we were lucky to escape Kalamazoo with a win last year. A loss would still send CMU to the MAC title game on the fourth tiebreaker - league schedule strength. Tim Hiller has been ripping up defenses. We'll need one more stout game. Notre Dame - I don't care. Just go get blown out. I'll probably watch, but I don't care.
  10. The NFC South traditional home-team dominance continues. Atlanta's going to kill us, we look awful.
  11. Of the 14 teams ahead of them, which teams do they deserve to be ahead of and which ones do they actually have a legit chance to beat. Personally they won't beat any team that is currently ahead of them. I just find it ironic that they kept moving up for beating bad teams and now that they are beating good teams they are dropping. I know that's the way it goes later in the season when the pollsters have a better idea of who's good, but it's a pain.
  12. Or maybe he'll throw two interceptions. Haha.

  14. Quinn's probably more hurt than he admitted with that fractured finger. Of course, Anderson will now inexplicably play well and the 31st-best run organization in the league will probably find an excuse to keep him in.
  15. Hawkeyecub, I'd like to see anyone not get pumped up over what looked like a sea change to Notre Dame in Weis's first two years. Clearly, Brady Quinn had a lot more to do with 2005 and 2006 than anyone wanted to admit at the time. Ball State finally beats a decent team, which people have been calling for forever - on the road, no less - and they drop in the polls. That's cool.
  16. Fortunately for you, yes, you can watch us get crushed in the Sun Bowl by whoever the hell the Pac-10 feels like sending. unfortunate for ND, actually. Payout, sure, but you're more than likely going to lose your 10th straight bowl game I really don't care about the bowl streak as much as everyone else does. None of those outcomes really meant anything (I like bowls, but the fact is except for the national title game, none of those outcomes really mean anything - it's about the experience). I'm glad the young players can get another month of practice time before (hopefully) the new coach comes in. That's all I really care about. I actually hope ya'll fire Weiss because I heard a (very unreliable) rumor that ND would then go after Urban Meyer and there would be mutual interest. I'm almost certain it's not the least bit true, but it still made me happy. Oh come now, that rumor went around the last time Notre Dame had a vacancy. There was an editorial in a Florida paper this week where the columnist believes Meyer would go to ND soon or perhaps now because the circumstances are different. Four years ago Meyer had a young family that he didn't want to uproot, and now that family is not so young. His biography still states that Notre Dame is his dream job - and it was updated after he took the Florida gig. I'm not sure how much I believe any talk of Meyer (or whether ND would even try and pursue him a 2nd time), but GD it, would that be nice.

  19. I am reminded of Colin Cowherd's pro-Weis rant that he went on during the 2006 season when Charlie was 18-4 and looked like a fantastic coach (I only know about it because someone had it as audio to a fan-made video, please do not assume I would ever listen to Cowherd willingly). At one point he shouted down a caller that defended Ty with: "He was a bum! By the time he left he was getting crushed by Syracuse!" The irony.
  20. Lynch was 1-21 over a two year period while he was Ball State's head coach. That should have been all they needed to know. When Ball State gets so sick of you that they can you after a 6-6 season, that probably means you're not gonna cut it.
  21. Haha, Tyrone goes 0-11. At least I have a tiny, tiny, tiny bit of satisfaction from this day.
  22. Two. But I don't want to talk about this damn team anymore. Charlie has now lost to two teams who have huge, huge, huge talent deficiencies against us this month, and a third where his team blew a 14-point lead. He needs to go. That's all I have to add.
  23. Because you watch and can evaluate this at all. what kind of in depth statistical analysis needs to be done to tell you that ND's announcers desperately want ND to win every game? You would think. Of course, this same thread had people saying that Big East refs were trying to help Notre Dame take a better bowl bid from one if its league's teams. Maybe Hammond and Haden overcompensate, whatever it is. They're horrible announcers regardless of who they are rooting for.
  24. Because you watch and can evaluate this at all. i haven't watched this game, but usually notre dame games are practically unwatchable because hammond/sager are such homers. I haven't watched the other games, but all Hammond and Haden have done is lap up how great Syracuse showing effort is. Every good ND play was solely because of a bad Syracuse defensive assignment. And I have no idea why you said Sager, he's not on the crew.
  25. He didn't. At least we won't get crushed in the Gator Bowl.
