  1. lines are made by professional gamblers who really, really know what they're doing. they also probably noticed that carolina won half of their games by 10 or more points. And Arizona can't win east of the desert. I should rephrase. Ten is high for a playoff game. If you take Carolina and give the points, you're figuring that they really can't stop our run at all (they did contain Turner last week, but it was in Arizona) and you're probably assuming at least one long TD pass from Delhomme to Smith.
  2. GMAC Bowl tonight. I picked Tulsa in the pick 'em leagues. I just don't think we can stop them. Should be quite entertaining either way though. Chirp, chirp.
  3. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/orl-sportsbcsnotes06010609jan06,0,70284.story Florida is 12-1 when Meph enjoys himself in front of a Tebow poster before the game starts.
  4. Ten is really really high. We don't blow teams out. I think we'll win, though.
  5. Notre Dame goes 5 on 8 and wins 73-67. I could very well be way off since I was there and not seeing it on TV, but it sure seemed like Georgetown got a lot of bad calls in their favor tonight, many of them fouls against us. Harangody got his 4th foul with 15 minutes to go on a complete joke of an offensive foul call but managed to play much of the rest of the game without getting a 5th. He dominated for a couple of stretches and put up 31 and 11 against the stiffest D in the league. A win we needed to have, streak or no streak.
  6. This has been quite a game. I wouldn't have expected that when I put 34/34 points on Texas to win.
  7. Tomorrow, friend. Tomorrow.
  8. For all my jabbering about being scared of Arizona, my comforting thought is that we do one thing better than possibly anyone else does anything except for perhaps Baltimore playing defense in these playoffs...running the football. At some point, Jake Delhomme will have to win us a game if we're going to go all the way, but it won't be on this night.
  9. If NY hadn't had this week off I'd pick Philly. But their banged-up guys had the week to rest and that'll be enough.
  10. The answer is football. I found myself losing my mind at a game in 2006 when, on a 4th down play that ended up being Ball State's last chance, a flag was thrown and then picked up. I couldn't even believe how nuts I went as it was happening. Point being, that doesn't happen to me with other sports. Ever. And it happens with college football at least a few times a year.
  11. One of ND and Georgetown will be 1-2 in conference after tomorrow night. Honestly I don't see how we beat them. It may be at home where we've won 44 straight, but we haven't beaten the Hoyas since, I think, 2003. Or really come even close. They have some sort of hex on ND. Or maybe we just can't play defense, that could be it too.
  12. The Cardinals are 0-5 in road games against teams outside of the western divisions. Just an FYI. One of them was a game we should've lost, and it was Boldin's first game back from his broken-face injury. That team scares the bejeezus out of me if I think about it too much.
  13. I can't decide if I'd rather be terrified of Boldin/Fitzgerald all week or terrified of Peterson. My gut says I'd rather play Minnesota. But I'm not sure.
  14. Mark has to be one of the nicest, most genuine people that has ever suited up for the Cubs. Of all the Cubs of the last few years, including Wood (I'd be more awestruck than anything with him), Mark DeRosa is by far the one I'd have most liked to run into on a Chicago street. I'm gonna miss him. If I end up at the Cleveland series I'll wear my DeRo shirt.
  15. This is no knock on Tennessee, but SD should be begging Baltimore to win tomorrow. I think Pittsburgh would be an awful matchup for them.
  16. Some major Buffalo schadenfreude for me today. I'm very irrationally bitter.
  17. I don't know what the hell it is with St. John's (they do this to us all the time), but when Luke Harangody puts up a 28/14, ND should win every time. This one's on the others. Especially Kyle McAlarney, whose tendency to completely disappear if he's not hitting 3's is really freaking annoying. He's a better player than to just be a complete nonfactor without threes. I don't think Notre Dame is remotely a top 10 team. Apart from a close win over Texas, they haven't done anything to show me they're any better than the 2006-07 team, let alone last year.
  18. I think Utah is a very good team and I never was that enamored with Bama. They were great at what they did, but I never got the impression that they were a team that a Utah-type team couldn't beat. If anything, this is much less surprising to me than Boise was. I picked Bama, but I certainly thought Utah could win.
  19. Utah for national champion
  20. I think the Eagles will win but I am leery of picking against the team with the best player on the field. Wouldn't surprise me at all if Minnesota won.
  21. Get me on board.
  22. Luke Harangody probably played the worst 26/16 game in the history of the world last night. He really wasn't all that good. ND can't play defense to save their lives and that's probably going to kill them against the better teams unless Ryan Ayers brings that kind of 3-point shooting every night.
  23. Good for NMSU. I joked back in October that Ty Willingham would be going to NMSU. Glad no I-A fan base has to deal with that anymore.
  24. Not a good page of posts for Purdue fans, here.

    NFL Week 17

Carolina wins and doesn't surrender the record...thank you John Kasay! 12-4, 2 seed, and a home playoff game for the 8-0 home team. There's much more to come. :D
