  1. Carolina's Week 16 game at the Meadowlands should be enlightening provided neither team has clinched by then.
  2. Tampa Bay wins after Bryant missed an overtime FG and was bailed out by Jeremy Trueblood jumping offsides. Stupid freaking Bucs. And even stupider freaking Chiefs.
  3. ND/BC is a much bigger game for ND than BC - which might be the first time that's ever happened. If Charlie is going to ever win a title at ND, it needs to start with beating teams on the second tier, between top 10 type teams and mediocre teams. ND is not good or experienced enough yet to be expected to beat top-tier teams but they need to beat teams like BC and next week's opponent, Navy, consistently if they're going to get past the 8-9 win area. NIU will be Ball State's sternest conference test this season to this point. It would be nice if BSU's offense can dominate early, something they haven't done in over a month now.

  5. Bucs getting crushed will put Carolina in control of the South. :D
  6. The AP poll is so much better than the coaches', it's too bad the coaches' is the one that matters to the BCS.
  7. Wow, I get Lions/Bears and Jags/Bengals. SNOOOOOOZE...Gus doing the latter game is the only thing keeping my TV on.
  8. I have a feeling I'll be much more into the Bulls after football season, but for right now it's really nice to see Rose play well.
  9. actually if texas scores here and then kicks the extra point, and it ends up being a one point longhorn win, then the red raiders should not receive a loss, since the extra point doesn't really count for anything and the game is really tied and going to overtime. man, this is so confusing all close games should just be tossed out, a win is the same as a loss, a loss is the same as a win only blowouts will count in mephball Where do you rank Ball State? unranked mephball only recognizes national powerhouses Ball State's wins are all by 12 or more, mephball digs the blowouts and vaults the Cardinals to #8
  10. This one is tough to get over. I really don't like college overtime. I never have. Too often, the game, like today's, ends up being "whose field goal kicker can make more". That said, OC Mike Haywood should be ashamed of himself for taking the ball out of all of our 3 best players' (Clausen, Floyd, Tate in that order) hands and setting Walker up for failure. He's a suspect kicker, and counting on him to beat Pitt was a stupid, stupid idea. I don't like NFL overtime either, but there has to be a better way. The more I think about it, just alternating regular possessions instead of starting from the 25 seems sensible. Jimmy did not look good today. Only 23/44. I'm going to bring this up of my own accord - ND's last win over a team that finished with a winning record was Penn State, 2006. Charlie Weis has proven - with one exception, MSU 2005 - that if he has the better football team in a game, he will win. He has not by any means proven he can beat a team that's on ND's level or above. I guess his job is to keep bringing in top-rated classes so that as many teams as possible are below our level. We should probably win the next three - BC isn't good, Navy doesn't have much of a defense and Syracuse is awful. Golden Tate's mid-air diving double-tipped catch in the 2nd quarter was one of the most unbelievable things I have ever seen. And in alma mater news, Ball State will be moving up another spot as FSU went down to GT.
  11. I...probably don't. myp2p.eu will have to save the day, most likely. And one google later, it' sconfirmed. It goes through north and northeastern Arkansas, but not central. StoogeTV.com is pretty good for out of market NFL games too.
  12. http://i.cdn.turner.com/sivault/si_online/covers/images/1990/0305_large.jpg Ball State beat them in the tourney that year. :D Notre Dame's lineup: PG Jackson SG McAlarney F Ayers (possibly Zeller) F Harangody F Hillesland ND will go with no true center. Luke's the closest thing but he's 6'8" in high-tops.
  13. The Lou Holtz/Mark May battle last night regarding tomorrow's game was like watching two [expletive] donkeys attempt to attack one another. However, May's assertion that LeSean McCoy will rush for 200 yards is ludicrous. Javon Ringer took like 40 carries to get 200 against ND and I really doubt McCoy will have that many carries. And ND's defense has improved since September. This should be a very entertaining game, though. I think the Irish win but I'm not overly confident about it.
  14. 7 of the Big East's teams were between 7-11 and 11-7 in the league last year. I'm not quite sure what you're looking for in the cluster department.
  15. What's impressive though is how good the depth is. Besides South Florida and Rutgers there isn't a gimmie in that conference. This. And even those two have their moments (USF took UConn to OT last year, Rutgers has a history of giving better teams trouble at the RAC). With a road game at Loyola Marymount and Maui almost right off the bat, I should find out quickly if ND is really #9 good. And I have no idea what's up with the Big East in the tourney, but I've always thought measuring an entire conference on it was unwise. Just to use an example I'm familiar with, there were a lot of teams in the 4-seed area that I thought ND could've taken out in the 2nd round if they'd been podded with them as a 5, but I knew Washington State wasn't one of them. Having the Cougars beating my team was one of the easiest picks in my bracket last year. It comes down to matchups a lot.
  16. One of those beasts actually make the elite 8 this year? Why is it ok to use sample size and crapshoot in relation to MLB playoffs but not the NCAA tournament? No worries though, you guys need someone to throw things at now that Eric Gordon isn't in college anymore.
  17. When you're rooting for the Chiefs and Raiders in a week, you know it probably won't be a happy one.
  18. And mostly due to that returning talent...eight ranked teams in the preseason poll. Two more receiving votes. This league is going to be an absolute bear. And I can't wait.
  19. How many people actually like ALL the sports teams in one city? I know there are a few on this site, but with expansion, teams moving and families moving all more than ever I have a feeling it's fewer than it's ever been. That's my problem with the whole 25 years thing.
  20. Because it is so much harder to run through the likes of Wisconsin, Iowa, Northwestern, and Iowa, because they are legendary powers. We can debate which conference is tougher and/or have more depth, but it would be a short discussion. Besides, Ole Miss would be the Big 10 second best team, period. Have you seen Ole Miss play? Of course not, cause you're allergic to tough hard nose football. Ohio State would crush Ole Miss. Michigan State would probably beat them handily. In fact, the only Big Ten teams I can say with a lot of confidence that Ole Miss would handle would probably be Purdue, IU and Michigan. I can't stand the Big Ten, but this post is absolutely ridiculous.
  21. My grandmother told me last night that she wrote in Hillary Clinton because while she likes Obama she's not comfortable with his stance on abortion, believing it too liberal. I love my grandmother dearly, but she is not very smart.
  22. The MAC East division has two teams tied at 2-2, a 1-2 team, three 1-3 teams and a 1-4 team. And that's league records. Meanwhile Ball State is stuck in the division with three other teams who are 4-1 or better in the MAC. The best four teams in the league all in the West...insane.
  23. Very impressive. Doing that again in the Garden would turn some heads. Derrick Rose is too legit to quit.
  24. Probably my favorite possible lineup considering the circumstances (Gordon being banged up). Says more about the rest of the Bulls than these five, but still.
  25. Gerut and Hairston have not been 'prospects' of any kind in quite some time. Both are full-time MLB players and have been for a few years. Comparing them to the Cubs names being floated - besides probably Cedeno, who has been around a couple years now - is not really an accurate comparison. I don't know where you get your information, but Gerut hasn't played anything close to full time since 4 years ago, and Hairston has never been a full time player career. He has yet to break 350 ABs in a season. They are both absolutely comparable to Cedeno and Johnson in terms of value. Not that this argument has anything to do with any teams chances of landing Peavey. I meant full time as in they're always with the big club.
