  1. Good lord, I like watching 2008 games, but it always just reminds me that last year was as close to The Year as we're ever gonna get until the actual Year. It was the same when my iPod shuffled up the BCVM highlight mix from last year.
  2. ISUCubsFan's closest thing was depressing because Carolina had Super Bowl 38, ND football had 1993, and ND basketball had...well...nothing except a fluke Sweet 16 berth in 2003.
  3. He's not getting any smarter, either. Other than our home game against UCLA this year and a small tournament we're playing jack crap again. He honestly thinks the Big East schedule is more than enough to get us a bid every year. If we'd played anybody, anyone at all, two years ago when we were 14-4 in the Big East we'd have probably gotten a top 3 protected seed, but his horrid nonleague schedule dropped us to a 5 and a horrible matchup with Wazzu in round 2. I'm as big a Big East fanboy as anybody, but it's just not enough. This guy doesn't remotely seem to have what it takes to win big here. If Digger Phelps could make us a consistent Sweet 16 team I don't see why we can't get someone who will take us back to that level, and Brey ain't it.
  4. Seriously, he was feeding Soriano meatballs. I couldn't believe it. The way he is right now, why on Earth would you do that in that spot?
  5. For God's sake, Brey, shut up. Try winning some damn games against the Big East and stop complaining about the schedule before you take potshots at other conferences.
  6. Probably the pitch that could've been called strike three on the 1-2.
  7. I hope the posting of this thread, coupled with the next game after the fact, portends something. :D
  8. Made sure to hit that to the right side to keep the runner from moving up too. I'm telling you, it's gonna be huge when the 'Miles is a Cards double agent' story breaks.
  9. Fox should play LF tomorrow. If he can play for an inning he can play a game.
  10. http://www.gatewayredbirds.com Go ahead talk about em all day then. I'd love to hear about what the 2003 Cubs had to do with the 2007 Cubs when they had exactly two players in common.
  11. Santo, vetoing a trade to the Angels in '73.
  12. My foe list has increased by two in this game thread.
  13. The 2008 Cubs. They are going to make the playoffs everytime. The '06 Cards usually won't. The Cardinals made the playoffs and then won the world series, and you would take the 2008 Cubs, a team that failed to show up for even one inning and went home with the title "division winner"? That's some very strong kool aid there. Your posts in this thread are idiotic. Actually in most threads.
  14. I'd take the team that didn't lose 8 games in a row TWICE that year. And for God's sake, some luck would be nice once in a while, too, I know we don't deserve it.
  15. The best teams in baseball go to the world series and play each other. No they dont Wait, the '06 Cardinals wasn't the best team that year? [-X '07 Rockies '04 Red Sox '03 Marlins '02 Angels '01 Diamondbacks
  16. You should consider talking to somebody about your obsession with their recent playoff struggles. You realize this is a Cubs forum and that is the team's biggest hurdle in recent years, right? I guess I'm just interested in the Cubs getting to the World Series. The Cubs playoff crapiness is the single most important issue in the context of a Cubs forum. I don't think games from 2003 really have any impact on what is going on with the Cubs right now. It's really weird how I've seen quite a few posts by you and every single one of them seems to be associated with your perception of a mental hurdle surrounding the teams struggles in the playoffs. They are on the verge of going under .500 but you are worried about games played months and years ago. The obsession with those three games is what got us into this ridiculous situation to begin with.
  17. Good lord, the microphone doesn't even work.
  18. He'd probably be putting up Pujols type numbers. What makes me laugh is every Cardinals fan tries to tell me they hated him too. Don't give me that crap, this guy was acceptable for you and is redefining the word 'suck' here in Chicago. His OPS last year was literally time and a half what it is now.
  19. Another quality start. Another loss.
  20. If someone doesn't get Jake Fox into the lineup the next time we face a lefty, the kittens die. Such is the consequence of our quest to get left-handed.
  21. Aaron Miles has to be a double agent. No one can really be this bad.
  22. The minute a Cubs game starts, it is acceptable to drink.
