    So I tried to watch the Cards' game on MLBTV and they told me I was in one of the teams' territories so I was blacked out. I am in neither team's territory. I then clicked over to the Cubs game and they told me I was in San Diego's territory. Then I clicked on the Royals/White Sox game and once again was blacked out. I'm pretty sure MLBTV has banned me from watching baseball.

    Replace "Lou" with "Dusty" and replace "Gregg" with "LaTroy", "Neifi", "Remlinger", and who knows who else.

    If you ask me, it's not extreme at all. With this pool of candidates that's probably the best option, other than making Guzman the closer, which the Cubs are - somewhat understably given his history - loath to do. Lou had to do this. The fans are about ready to come at Gregg like an angry mob.

    I don't get why anyone would give up a sandwich pick for Gregg when he's been this bad this year and is on the wrong side of 30.

    It has to be somebody else, though. It has to. At this point, sending Gregg out there is hanging him out to dry, because he clearly cannot do the job.

    Unfortunately, there's little reason to believe that won't be disappointing. I'd talk about Carolina, but our season ended the day we re-signed a guy who turned the ball over 7 times his last game out.

    I'll keep watching this year, too, gotta hold out hope. But man oh man, it's not looking good.

    If our rival was a hopelessly tormented fan base with a horrid closer, I'd probably hang around too. But they're not. They're a recent champion with Ryan Franklin pitching his way to a Bob Gibson ERA and the greatest player of all time.
