  1. 3-2 Mets and the Cards have 1st and 3rd 1 out.
  2. Oh, please be okay, Ryan. The last thing we need is Aaron Miles playing SS for a significant period.
  3. I know the award is meaningless but I hope Aramis wins a Gold Glove someday. He's so good over there.
  4. Bases loaded, 1 out for NY. That ERA should take a little baloon ride in about 10 minutes. Johan's at the plate, I'm thinking not so much.
  5. Serious question: Has no other team offered Dave Duncan a gazillion dollars to be their pitching coach, or does he just like St. Louis?
  6. Gorzo really knocked the crap out of that one
  7. The Cardinals' ugliest outfielder (since they traded Duncan) homers. 1-0 STL
  8. Tom Gorzelanny has now accomplished more against Joey Votto than any Cubs pitcher of all time.
  9. That's 16 million. 5M is the buyout. Personally, I think STL should eat the 5M and buy it out. What a waste of money he's been.
  10. It surprises you that a pitcher's ERA is high with RISP? In Marmol's case, and at that high an ERA, yes. I would assume it'd be high to some extent, but 19 with 2 outs, for a guy that often is entering with other people's runners on, it's mildly surprising.
  11. I was about to make a post saying that it seems like he's been better in high-leverage situations, but his ERA with RISP is 9.00 and his ERA with RISP and 2 outs is over 19. Oops.
  12. I half-expect to hear that Randy Wells somehow worked with Dave Duncan at some point, so unexpected has his success been. I love it, hopefully after his next start he can jump onto the ERA leaderboard.
  13. It will be. I won't be watching this game. That usually means good things for the Cubs.
  14. The best time of the year. I was looking through the TV schedules for Week 1 for the college football threads I post every week, and I got way too excited at the fact that the entire TV slate is pretty much set for September 5th. It's almost here.
  15. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN200306260.shtml http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN200309160.shtml http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN200409300.shtml Find those games. Masterpieces. I was just glancing through game logs, and in the 2003 season, Mark Prior gave up more than three earned runs four times. Four, in thirty starts. I will never forget his 2003, which barring some sort of miracle will always be the best season I will ever see a Cubs pitcher have. 2.43 ERA. A K/9 ratio of 10.4 and a K:BB ratio of almost 5:1. WHIP of 1.10. 178 ERA+. 18 wins. Ridiculous.
  16. If we get to Game 7 of the World Series, I'm guessing Kevin Gregg will at some point earn our trust in the interim. Unfortunately right now he's just driving me nuts.
  17. I'm kind of with Derwood. I loathe Gregg and wish we wouldn't close him, but on the other hand if we close Guzman we now suddenly have no one who can be counted on to get outs in the middle relief corps.
  18. We are now less than 5 weeks away from the first Saturday of the season.
  19. Come on Derrek, that was horrible.
