  1. I really like Tyler Colvin so far.
  2. Heh, we say the same thing about our $18 million outfielder. I'm starting to think Jim Hendry may not be using our resources to their maximum effect.
  3. Other positive (for now) news: St. Louis is down 2-1 after 6 to Houston.
  4. Muskat tells us that the last time the Cubs held a lead in each of their first 9 games (as they've done this season) was 1945. .....
  5. Their awesome-fielding SS gets on thanks to an error by our SS.
  6. Overreaction much? I know the wind's howling out, but still, he's giving up a lotta runs.
  7. LOL at "more than half the games against playoff teams" when EVERY SINGLE TEAM has more than half their games against the other conference against playoff teams.
  8. Muskat posts them really early, I've noticed.
  9. Lee back in the lineup today. ss theriot rf fukudome 1b lee 3b ramirez lf colvin cf byrd 2b fontenot c soto p zambrano
  10. What? Why? When I was a little kid, my older cousins were the only hockey fans I knew and they were from Michigan (and I lived in South Carolina, so I didn't have a team nor did I know jack about the NHL).
  11. I think we clearly need a separate thread for this discussion to avoid confusion. :D
  12. Not according to the playoff seedings, or these two game box scores.
  13. He's just bitter because the Bulls made the playoffs and the Rockets didn't.
  14. The MLB playoffs getting longer would blow severely. We already have teams like the 06 Cardinals and 05 (I think) Padres getting in barely over .500 on occasion - expanding them would make things like that nearly an every-year occurrence.
  15. ND scheduling tidbit: Mike Brey said at the team banquet last night that the Irish were 'likely' to play Kentucky next year (in the Big East/SEC Invitational) and were in talks to get Gonzaga to come to South Bend. Georgia Tech and Arizona State have also talked to him about a game for next year. Combine those with the Old Spice Classic - which should at least get ND a game with a middling power-conference opponent - and the trip to UCLA and the non-conference schedule might actually be tolerable next year. With the tournament's likely expansion, it seems that Brey is a lot less nervous about playing some good teams before January. Also, neither he nor AD Jack Swarbrick have been contacted about the Oregon job, contrary to some rumors that were floating around yesterday.
  16. The cluster eff at the end of that Wings game reminded me how rare and awesome plays like the Parise goal in the Olympics are.
  17. I'm nominally a Wings fan, but don't follow the NHL basically at all. Trying to catch some playoff games though, starting tonight. I would really like to see Wings/Blackhawks to see my Hawks fan friends get riled up.
  18. How the hell are we only 2 games out of first? SWEEP, BITCHES
  19. YOU'RE DAGGUM RIGHT WE'RE PLAYING THIS GAME UNDER PROTEST
  20. Rose and Noah are the core. Give those guys a big-time scorer in the offseason and make a couple of nice other moves and this team can definitely contend next year. I hope the Bulls play really well against Cleveland. I'd love to at least steal a game.
  21. There are. Lou doesn't know how to use them. Caridad, for example, would be very useful when our starter has just given up a slam and we're now down by 10. I sincerely hope they're not that short sighted regarding him. Giving up on young pitchers because they initially struggle in the bullpen isn't going to help the team. No matter where they struggle it's not healthy to give up on them - look at Marmol. He sucked as a starter in 2006, and the last four years he's been the most unhittable pitcher in baseball.
  22. Whatever his idea is I am sure that it's the complete opposite of a good idea.
  23. This is a good time to remind people that NBA.com has free audio feeds of every game, so you can listen to Swirsky and Wennington. Also, if you're in the CSN-Chicago area but can't get to a TV, Bulls.com has an available Web stream of the CSN feed.
