  1. You guys will love this. Pac-12 refs for the national title game. The crew that reffed the Pac-12 title game - and presumably were the highest-rated crew in the league to get that assignment - also reffed the ND/Stanford game.
  2. You've made it abundantly clear that you can make baseless and biased claims. He's right in this case. Rolando McClain didn't even get a vote in 09 with credentials that are just as good as Teo's. Unanimous All American, Butkus Award, undefeated season. Golden Tait did get votes in 2009 though, first place votes even... Golden Tate was ridiculously good in 2009 and he finished 10th, six spots behind where Marqise Lee is going to finish on a team one game better than that 2009 team was. You act like any old scrub can get votes if they wear an ND uniform.
  3. You've made it abundantly clear that you can make baseless and biased claims. He's right in this case. Rolando McClain didn't even get a vote in 09 with credentials that are just as good as Teo's. Unanimous All American, Butkus Award, undefeated season. Again, best player on best team. McClain was not even close to Alabama's best player in 2009. Ingram, Richardson, Cody, Julio Jones in some order were all better.
  4. Manziel is a great football player and he'll win the Heisman, but he played 3 good defenses and wasn't any good in 2 of the games (yes, Old Style, I know the picks weren't his fault). Apart from those 3 teams, A&M's schedule was pretty crappy, including 2 FCS teams against whom he rang up gigantic numbers. There'd be more of an argument against his candidacy if any other offensive player on a good team had had a big-time season.
  5. Part ND, part story, part the best player on the #1 team is always a Heisman contender and Te'o is ND's best player. I don't think he necessarily deserves the award, but he's excellent.
  6. Formality, but Manziel, Te'o and Klein named Heisman finalists today. All projections have the final vote in that order with sizable gaps between each spot.
  7. I like this very much. Len and Jim will be a great team.
  8. Will Muschamp should be proof enough that a high-profile successful DC can do much better than the BC job. I've also heard reports linking him to Cal.
  9. Summarize? Ripped the selection of NIU and the system that is set up that allows them to play despite their resume. Also ripped the cap on two schools from each BCS conference. Noted that NIU lost to Iowa and Kent State lost to Kentucky. The whole thing would be a lot more intellectually honest if they'd leave Georgia out of it. Georgia played 3 teams with winning records. They lost to two of them and needed 800,000 turnovers from Florida to win the other one.

  11. His network paid for the stupid system. ESPN is, at the least, complicit in the ridiculous rules the BCS set up.
  12. Other bowl matchups that were conference games not so long ago: Va Tech vs Rutgers - Russell Athletic Ball State vs Central Florida - Beef O'Brady's West Virginia vs Syracuse - Pinstripe We'll see more and more such matchups in future years.
  13. Beat you to that. Hoke also had NIU 25th (no love for your old conference, Coach?) behind freaking USC. they lost to iowa and beat kansas at home by 7. USC would beat NIU by a thousand. Usually I argue hypotheticals like that with "There's no way that team would have the guts to schedule that matchup". For USC, which actually deigns to play AQ opponents most of the time OOC, it's actually the opposite.
  14. Beat you to that. Hoke also had NIU 25th (no love for your old conference, Coach?) behind freaking USC.
  15. Well, no point in watching the Orange or Sugar Bowls this year. Or the National Championship game #blowout I'd think you and several others here would probably be at least as likely to watch if it were a blowout. Thamel also confirmed the other BCS bowls, not that we needed him to: KSU/Oregon Fiesta Bowl, Louisville/Florida Sugar Bowl.
  16. Pete Thamel just Tweeted that NIU will go to the Orange Bowl. Official. MACtion comes to the BCS.

    NFL Week 13

Brady Quinn might be a Hall of Famer if he could play Carolina's defense every week.
  18. The coaches' poll public ballots are out. Bob Stoops voted Boise 22 and N. Illinois 24. He voted his own team 6th. Vanderbilt coach James Franklin had SEC teams 1-3, then Notre Dame at 4. I'm sure if you spend enough time you'll find several other fascinating votes.
  19. CFB fans antagonize ND fans more than any other fan base and then are shocked, SHOCKED I say, when there are some who argue back. So they hate ND even more. Vicious circle. I've said many times, the day people don't hate the Irish is the day I'll worry about where they stand in the CFB universe. ETA: Just to clarify, I'm not saying dew or anyone who argues in favor of Alabama qualifies as antagonism, it's just a general comment.
  20. Well, apparently everyone who keeps arguing with him.
  21. For people who don't want NIU to make a BCS game, the Huskies' schedule is ranked 120th in the nation this year, which would be the 2nd-worst SOS of any BCS bowl participant ever if they made it. 1st was Hawaii 2007, who was also 120th, but there were only 120 teams then instead of 124.
  22. Scoring defense. ND passed Alabama after Bama surrendered 28 points to Georgia.
  23. 4 teams pretty much directly in front of Boise and N. Illinois lost, and Nebraska is getting crushed so completely that one would think there's a chance that Boise or NIU could pass them too. We could have a BCS buster yet.
  24. Can we please, for the love of God, not have Texas be ranked tomorrow?
  25. Didn't spike the ball? And nice job catching the ball when you have no chance to get in, Georgia RB.
