Wonder who gets called up for Morel when he inevitably gets IL'd.
I never thought I'd see a run of injuries to top 2004 but this season is going to do it.
I'm willing to bet more teams have lost 8-0 leads than lost games in which they drew 6 bases loaded walks (in one damn inning no less). At least San Diego earned their comeback; Pittsburgh desperately tried to hand this game over and the Cubs refused to accept it
Complete with the Pirates inexplicably deciding to pitch to Bellinger even though Madrigal was on deck, a ridiculous decision that karma should've made them pay for making.
This is worse than the Padres loss.
Jed has gotten a lot more right than wrong, but turning the undisputed best reliever on the 2021 trade market into "slow infielder Juan Pierre but somehow a worse hitter" and a pitcher whose arm was apparently fastened together with shoelaces and a half broken zipper was a big miss
Assuming that does happen, I think that leaves Busch as the only damn player on the roster to both have an unassailably good season so far and not be on the IL. We're 6 weeks in.
ETA I forgot Assad
Yes, it appears he's probably got some sort of injury. It's really his own fault for playing well, we all know the rule is Cubs players aren't allowed to both play well and be healthy.
Today is apparently like one of those video games where you get on too long of a winning streak and the computer turns on the "you're not winning" chip.
