  1. It's worth pointing out again that Arrieta and Strop for half a season of Scott Feldman is the most hilariously one sided deal in recent Cubs history. This team is fun. They may or may not make the playoffs this year. But they're fun.
  2. I watch PTI because Kornheiser and Wilbon are funny together (and the replacements, except for Bob Ryan and the horrible human being Jason Whitlock, are generally entertaining when they have them as well) and to make sure I didn't miss anything while keeping Twitter open during the day. Outside of that I don't watch sports shows, just games.
  3. Generally yes, although Cespedes was not one when he won the Derby, IIRC. I think they may have relaxed the 'you have to be an All-Star' thing when they started having team captains and AL vs. NL.
  4. The idea of all the other guys sort of begrudgingly getting involved just enough so that Rizzo doesn't suspect how stupid they all think it is makes me chuckle.
  5. fixd DID YOU KNOW: Ross leads Cubs catchers with a .370 wOBA, 2nd only to Bryant for players with 10+ PA. entirely on the back of intentional walks and unintentional intentional walks, don't care at all You'd rather have had him expand the zone and ground out/pop-up weakly? Ross was my least favorite move of the offseason, and I really hope they stop using him as Lester's caddy the moment that Castillo is gone. But I think some are so predisposed to hate him that the fact that he's been fine so far is being cast aside as irrelevant. Any chance of that? I get the impression Ross is taking starts from Montero right now, not Castillo, and don't see any reason that would stop - if anything, him catching Lester after Castillo is gone seems more likely to me.
  6. Yeah, that's not going to happen, and you shouldn't want it to happen. The sooner Russell is up here and Jonathan Herrera isn't getting starters' ABs, the more games the Cubs will likely win.
  7. Not until Bryant loses prospect status. Arguable Russell has a higher floor and lower ceiling than Bryant, it's generally agreed. Whether one thinks that makes Russell better is open to argument. I can't wait to get Russell up here. That'll be about as big a day as Bryant for me.
  8. Fake rally, but Fowler was such a great pickup.
  9. Well, guess we won't have any more high leverage spots coming
  10. And promptly gives up a hit, albeit seeing-eye
  11. Ah, the first guy I would much rather have seen than Schlitter comes in
  12. Eh, the throw was fine, beat Kemp there easily
  13. Yes, it absolutely was. Yeah, clear on the replay. For a split second I thought he'd really gone off the reservation with the throwing to 1st thing.
  14. When do we get the Lester that was paid $140+ million?
  15. MLBN is using the WGN feed today if you don't want to have the MLB.TV delay.
  16. If he exhibits the kind of patience he showed today (and has shown in the minors) he's going to be an absolute monster
  17. That was some kind of terrible decision by Black
  18. I thought the same thing for a second. It's clearly been a while since we saw Jxn throw gasoline on a game when he's inspiring those thoughts.
  19. Rosscup facing a bunch of righties was not fun. Thank God no runs.
  20. Things were going far too well for the bullpen. Two straight bed crappings now
  21. Hard hitting journalism from Kelly Crull there.
