  1. Bingo. Considering we were coming off postseasons in which we A) won the title in large part because of Chapman's 8-out save in Game 5 of the Series and B) advanced to the NLCS in large part because of Wade Davis' 7-out save in Game 5 against Washington, it was straight-up stupid to then go sign a closer you knew damn well you were never going to be able to use that way even if he didn't break before then. Kimbrel can’t be used that way either and is on the record as saying he doesn’t want to be a multi inning guy, fwiw. I'm not advocating it (obviously in an ideal world Strop would still be good and we could just go Cishek/Strop/Kimbrel), but Chapman was on the record saying he didn't want to do that either, and he still did.
  2. Yeah, I still don’t hate that one. Weird, because I've always hated it. I get that the price wasn't a roster-buster, but it still seemed like a doomed acquisition. Even in its most successful version, he was going to be a closer you had to handle like a piece of china. No long saves. No (or infrequent, IIRC) back-to-back days of usage. The minute he wasn't able to pitch the day after throwing 2 damn pitches in Miami because he had supposedly warmed up too much, I knew that one was a losing move.
  3. Bruce Miles calming the talk of KB being shelved as the corresponding move. [tweet] [/tweet]
  4. Descalso is an absolute waste of a roster spot at this point. I'd rather see him go. At least Almora is an OK defender and can occasionally run into one at the plate.
  5. What else could it be? Unless its Bryant to the IL, which would really suck Last we'd heard, Bryant said he'd be back in the lineup Friday, so this would be a pretty quick turnaround on that front.
  6. Pat and Ron made it sound like he had some words for the home plate umpire after he struck out. Got thrown out immediately. He had some words towards no one in particular (facing the Cubs dugout) and the umpire acted like a pissy little horsefeathers and tossed him for it
  7. Bryant had been scalding the ball for way too long, of course he'd get some random ass injury again.
  8. Bote would be my guess. Not that that's much better, really.
  9. It's probably part that but we're still not very deep in the outfield and I'm guessing they don't want to eat Descalso or Brach's money until they have to - although with the deadline coming, you have to assume they'll have to soon.
  10. lmao Talk about bad timing to get sick. Could fall out of first today.
  11. Isn't this supposed to be fun? I feel like this is supposed to be fun.
  12. It makes me very sad, but Pedro blows now and he can't be put in high leverage spots anymore.
  13. Eh, the pitch cast had it as ever so slightly clipping the zone. I'm more annoyed that Mills swung at that last pitch.
  14. Been a while since we got a great Javy tag
  15. That's this dumb horsefeathers's 5th dumb horsefeathers move in this game, at least we got bailed out of that one
  16. Now you go on contact you stupid horsefeathering horsefeathers
  17. If he'd gone on contact it would've taken a really nice Tatis play to get him
  18. The top 3 in this lineup massacre lefties, so while Q isn't innocent here, they're also very good
