  1. Warren did suck (at least until the damn instant we traded him back to the Yankees), I think he meant somebody else. Cahill was actually quite good in 15 and 16, though he only started once. I was specifically referring to spot starts. In Warren's spot start he gave up 1 run in 5 innings although the Cubs did ultimately lose the game. Clayton Richard is another guy who comes to mind in that vein.
  2. i think 2 reasons: 1 - they thought his early season stuff in long relief was encouraging and could produce ok enough results against a guy who has been shelled in his first 2 MLB starts. Remember when we used to start guys like Adam Warren and Trevor Cahill and inexplicably it worked? It always seemed to work back then just as it always seems to fail now. 2 - They are in the middle of their most difficult and strenuous stretch of the season and they want to take a chance and help keep the veteran arms like Lester and Cole (and I guess Yu) rested. Of course this goes completely against their "urgency starts in april" mantra they went on and on about in the spring, and even if this was the plan it should have been thrown out the window when Hendricks went on the DL, but who knows what the horsefeathers the FO and manager is doing these days I'm gonna be honest, I only remember Adam Warren and Trevor Cahill sucking Warren did suck (at least until the damn instant we traded him back to the Yankees), I think he meant somebody else. Cahill was actually quite good in 15 and 16, though he only started once.
  3. If you're in the mood to excuse Chatwood (not that anyone here would or should be) [tweet] [/tweet]
  4. It might be time to just start doing the opposite of whatever we think we should be doing against Albies
  5. It's unfathomable to me that we're in year 5 of this cycle and this is the 4th time we've been an absolute horsefeathering disaster with RISP (and even in 16 we were a touch below average). I'm not sure the 'no such thing as clutch' rule applies with that large a sample size
  6. Decent fake rally, could've been better. At least the top of the order will have a shot in the 9th
  7. I don't even get excited about him going ahead 0-2 because I know the next 3 pitches aren't going anywhere near the zone.
  8. Darvish horsefeathering blows and I'm tired of him.
  9. They couldn't be aiming those double play grounders to short any better.
  10. The surplus value from the early years of this contract that is supposed to cover for the back half of it just keeps piling up
  11. Hell of a job killing that rally, Bryzzo
  12. Ump rooking Adbert against the freaking pitcher. Thanks clown.
  13. If anyone's curious, Bruce Miles said on Twitter that as far as he knows the players just wanted to wear blue and that's why they're doing it.
  14. It's not like he walked the bases loaded or anything oh wait horsefeathers
  15. What the horsefeathering horsefeathers was that. That's a pretty unbelievably dumb play.
  16. This is what we get for wearing the blue at home. I like them on the road, but not at home
  17. I think Joe might have pulled Edwards mid at bat during the Nationals playoff series, but I couldn't tell you for sure.
  18. How in the world does that happen so often
  19. Just a glorious display of hitting in this inning
  20. That last spot in the lineup is pretty much a no win situation at this point. Almora? Cargo? Russell? Descalso? Just be happy there's only one of them and they are at the bottom of the lineup. Yep. Of those 4 I think CarGo is probably the least objectionable, or at least the one least likely to give me a visceral reaction to seeing him at the plate. So whatever.
  21. I'm morbidly impressed that someone actually wasted that much time and apparently much needed mental energy crafting the "this first place team should have a fire sale" take.
  22. Well, this game is BS. 2 juiced ball dongs for them and our juiced ball dong somehow landed 20 feet short
  23. UConn is apparently leaving the American to rejoin the Big East in basketball.
