  2. Would've been a great hedge for anyone who bet the Nationals before the series.
  3. B1G refs made sure to even that out with a bad (not as bad as the one on you) PI on Crawford on 3rd down that led to a TD. Obviously it did not remotely matter. Tonight was the symbolic end of Brian Kelly at ND. He's not going anywhere and he might even have another couple of good seasons, but he's never living this down, getting horsefeathering destroyed by a Michigan team that isn't even that great when an easy 11-1 season was sitting right in front of him. Absolute travesty, this 'performance'. I'm glad Herbstreit called them on the carpet for the no-show.
  4. If we know one thing about this front office, it's that they know how to make good #7 draft picks
  5. Javy had about 67% more defensive WAR than Nick Ahmed, guess which one was a Gold Glove finalist
  6. It was always clear that KB was being held down for service time but I agree, I think they planned to make it slightly less obvious and Olt being hurt (which, while not an excuse, never seems to come up when people mention this) forced the timeline up.
  7. Feeling ahead of the curve on my "I can't stand the Astros" take now.
  8. ND doesn't have anyone like KJ Hamler on their team (with experience, anyway - Braden Lenzy could be that guy but he's barely done anything yet), so that should help. I'd like to believe this will be an easy ND win - ND had an open date before the game while Michigan was on the road, Shea Patterson sucks against pressure and ND has a really good defensive line - but who am I kidding? The Irish have lost 7 of 8 in Ann Arbor, and this is going to be a dogfight.
  9. Enjoy the hell out of this week, because next week's slate is a big 'woof'.
  10. I do, for one. At least I did that series. Because of driving home late from work I listened to the Game 4 NLDS rally on the radio. Got home in time to see the clinching outs.
  11. Umm...yes there are? Nope. Not since like 2010 or something when they doubled everything. It's $200-$1,000 in round 1 and $400-$2,000 in round 2 now. It was around the time of the Ken Jennings run when they made that double. Probably due to do it again soon.
  12. 13. "I wish you could all be here right now" is an incredible Hughes line from that night.
  14. Not bad. Besides when I was actually watching the game, I don't think I could have told you the sequence of events that led to Michale McDonald or whatever his name is in the last AB. I think the whole Javy bunt strikeout rage probably blocked it from my memory, but good for JHey to contribute to the actual game, not just the locker room. I always remember that part but only because Fangraphs (I think it was them) wrote a great article about it a day or two after the game.
  15. You probably wouldn't get it unless you upped to a full Sports Pack. It wouldn't be on any standard package. I’m not sure how Marquee will work but I have U-Verse and NBC Sports Chicago and the Fox regional networks are all part of a pretty basic package. There are four levels of packages, and these channels are for sure in the second cheapest package. Sorry, I meant out of market. If you're in-market, they'll likely be on a more basic package, but if you're not in the market then they wouldn't be on any package you didn't specifically add.
  16. When I bought my house and moved out of my apartment, our landlord (not the one we originally rented from, as he had sold the place) felt the need to sarcastically text me about we must not want our security deposit back. I hadn't left the place in mint condition or anything, but I'd done my best to clean it up and certainly hadn't left anything in egregious shape. I just ignored him and a month or so later he sent me part of my deposit back anyway.
  17. It would presumably be available out of market like any other RSN is, just would black out the games. Well then I may be accidentally paying for it if it’s bundled with the above mentioned networks. I will not up my package to get it. You probably wouldn't get it unless you upped to a full Sports Pack. It wouldn't be on any standard package.
  18. It would presumably be available out of market like any other RSN is, just would black out the games.
  19. Just a pleasant sense of relief that at least one half of the nightmare World Series was averted. Washington is pretty fun, too, so that's nice for their fan base.
  20. Also reportedly interviewing Gabe Kapler.

  22. But would you trade Yadi for Mike Trout? Yadi will finish his career as a Cardinal, and that has been the plan since Pujols left. He's this generation's franchise player for St. Louis. And yes, I absolutely understand why fans from other teams hate him. I was trying to come up with a comparable player in recent (2 decades) of a Cubs player and how fans regarded them. I'm having trouble finding a 15 year player with multiple all-star appearances and arguably a HOF career. I think Rizzo is probably the closest as far as fans adoring a player. Am I missing somebody? Do we have to go back to the 60s/70s teams to do that? Sammy probably would've been that guy before the steroid stuff - and certainly before his ignominious exit - blew up that possibility. Rizzo and Javy are probably the 2 guys with closest to a 100% approval rating on the current team, but obviously don't have anything close to Molina's longevity.
  23. This most recent wave with Boone, Cora, etc. has been really strong in the early going. That being said, the first wave of these guys, Robin Ventura, Mike Matheny, Brad Ausmus, was kind of a disaster. I'm mostly with you on whoever we get probably being fine, but there is some risk. Feels like the quality of the front office is a pretty clear dividing line there. I was going to say, Matheny is a weird addition there, not because he wasn't a terrible manager (he was), but because even with a terrible manager, his team went to the playoffs 4 straight times and the World Series once.
  24. STL is winning anyway, them beating LA would've just made it more infuriating. But maybe Scherzer and Strasburg can Schilling/Johnson their way past somehow.
  25. It's funny, Joe Maddon said that same thing when STL sucked us into a beanball war in 2015 and their fans still haven't gotten over it.
