  1. That really wouldn't be that much of a monster year for Aramis. He already had 36 and 103 with a .318/.373 in 2004, so that would be a small improvement on 2004. I really don't see why he can't put up numbers like that next year, or maybe even better.
  2.    That instantly becomes my favorite sportswriting piece of the year. I'm saving that puppy.
  3. Remember when the Cubs/Cards game in June was on Fox and they mic'd up Dempster and he did that hilarious sportscaster bit in the bullpen? Then he joked around with a few Cardinal fans from the pen later in that game. And the Cubs won that one. :) Dempster's awesome. Seems like a guy you'd love to sit around and chat with.
  4. Sweet, Vance just called everyone on the Cubs but Lee deadbeats! :D Well....Ramirez was pretty good. And he was injured for most of August/September, and DLee STILL managed to put up 1.000+ OPS's in those two months, and also hit 14 homers in those months. Of course thanks to the Corey/Hairston/Neifi/Macias gang of idiots, Lee had 24 RBIs to show for those 14 homers.
  5.   Priceless. Dumpster-Man is always good for some laughs. :)
  6. I'd bet a lot of money that the Marlins wanted at least one of Pie/Hill/Cedeno/Murton and JH didn't budge on it, and that's why the Marlins lost interest. If that's the case, then kudos to Jim and go get Furcal for 4/34.
  7. Frost, if Lee had had Jones' amount of opportunities with men on and with RISP, he likely would have had so many RBIs that he would have beaten out not just Jones but Pujols as well, regardless of their teams' performance.
  8. Bulls visit the Rose Garden tonight to play the Trail Blazers at 10:00 pm ET. Although the mybulls e-mail says that Songaila is expected to start, SI.com's Truth and Rumors says that it is possible that Darius may be benched in favor of a Deng/Nocioni combo at the 3 and 4. Projected starters for the Bulls: Duhon Hinrich Deng Nocioni Chandler For the Blazers: Sebastian Telfair Sergei Monia Darius Miles Zach Randolph Joel Przybilla edited to reflect change in the lineup
  9. I think I saw that while watching sportscenter half asleep this morning. Miami vs. BGSU. espn link yep. 3 safeties in the first 20 minutes. that'll upset a coach Ouch. Silver lining for Miami: They lost by 28 so it didn't really make a difference. :P
  10. I really disagree with you on each points of this post. First, the secret was out pretty fast with DLee. Second, you are overvaluing the impact pitches a player sees because of another player in the lineup. I don't think the secret was out very quickly on Lee. I think that everybody expected him to come back to earth for the first two months of the year, and maybe started taking him more seriously after that. I think the fact that his OPS dropped by 225 points after the All Star break is evident of that, to some degree. I don't think I'm overvaluing the impact that a player like Pujols or Lee can have on other players in the lineup. For examle, Nunez had a .704 OPS in 2005, but his OPS jumped to .885 when he batted in front of Pujols. It might also have been because hardly anyone can maintain that level of inhuman production for an entire season...
  11. This thought worries me a lot...but you're probably right.
  12. That's absolutely hilarious. Seriously, the funniest thing I've read in a long time. 7/84 for Damon. Wow.
  13. At least it shows Neifi starting is not plan 'B'. AGon II is hardly a big improvement over Neifi.
  14. How many more "Bruce/bat signal" comments can one message board take? A lot. Bruce is our Batman. He saves us from the untruths of most of the national media!
  15. Who was the ump that hosed Kerry in the 9th inning against the Reds in 2004? IIRC that was the game that Kerry got tossed after he'd been pulled because whoever was umping at home decided that curveballs weren't strikes anymore. It was Eric Cooper. CB Bucknor was also on that crew.
  16.   Great post
  17. About what we'll be paying Rafael Furcal next season. Geez.
  18. You're both wrong, it's Two-Face. Hopefully Bruce comes up lucky on the coin flip. Time to send out the Bruce Signal.
  19. Whoa. Wilkerson is MUCH better than a bench player. He may not be the ideal CF for the Cubs but he is not a bench-caliber player.
  20. Haha, I didn't even think about that, but it's a really good point.
  21. I'm sure KSU will miss Snyder a lot. He came in before the 89 season and the Cats were arguably the worst team in college football, and less than a decade later, he was one Texas A&M OT run for a score of going to the national title game. What a great job that guy did with the Wildcats.
  22. Patterson was just as crappy batting 6th, 7th and 8th as he was batting 1st and 2nd.
  23. It's the Andruw Jones "you've got to be kidding me that he got 17 first place votes" BandWGN.
  24. Did you know that a deal to get Juan Pierre is practically imminent??? I'm so excited, Bruce Levine said we're about to get him so I am pumped! *note sarcasm*
  25. I preferred Andruw, but the fact that D-Lee wasn't even close to finishing 2nd shows you how much individual performace really means to this award.
