    Wow, a completely biased source writing something pro-ND and anti-other teams? Shocking! Perhaps it could be that those teams that played Oregon think that Oregon is a very good team and worthy of a ranking around #4? Everything doesn't have to be a conspiracy to thwart the great Fighting Irish, you know. I thought the better point was that ND was in front of Oregon last week in the coaches poll, then fell behind them a week later after nothing happened. This strikes me as odd.

    BBTN says the Tribe offered Hoffman 3/21 while the Padres opened up at 2/10. Oops.

    Stark says the Yanks only want Damon if it goes down to 3-4 years, in which case Boston would jump back in to the fray. Also says the Yanks won't get Pierre unless they're willing to part with Wang or Cano, although New York has higher priorities than Pierre.

    Stark says the Cubs quickly ended Prior/Z for Abreu talks. Pierre, Wilkerson, Lugo, Gathright (big news right?) are on the Cubs' list for leadoff men. Kurkjian says Cleveland is in the lead for Hoffman. (I guess Wickman's retiring)

    Bradley is under contract but the Dodgers are sick of his issues and will ship him out for basically anything. If Beane is really offering Zito for him he's out of his mind.

    Gammons and Harold both think that you should never trade great young pitching, and there's no way the Cubs ship Prior out. Phillips is a moron.

    Steve Phillips is right that we shouldn't give up Prior, but his rationale (White Sox just won with pitching) is out of whack. Phillips doesn't think Abreu for Prior is realistic for either side due to Prior's injuries.

    Gammons says that the Cubs could easily land Kearns due to all their young pitchers in the minor league system. Wily Mo Pena rumored to be available, Gammons mentioned the Nats as a possible destination. Griffey is probably staying, Casey may stay.

    I think people here just need an adjustment period. After all, we're not used to Hendry saying something intelligent. :wink:

    Gammons is now saying that the only uniform Clemens will wear in 2006, should he play, is Houston's. Also said that he's 'only coming back if Ausmus is', which is interesting.

    You'll want to consider the source (NDnation.com) but this is a great article about the ridiculousness that is the coaches' poll, mentioning that even though over half of the coaches put ND 5th, the Pac-10 coaches' trying to push Oregon into the BCS ended up making ND 6th. Article

    I guarantee that if ND wins the turnover battle, they'll win the game. The only reason we lost the MSU game and nearly lost the Stanford game were turnovers. MSU: Schwapp fumble (play should have been blown dead before then but that's another topic), INT returned for TD Stanford: 2 Quinn INTs in or near Stanford territory Heck, you could even say that turnovers partially cost us the USC game. (Quinn INT, Fasano fumble)

    I imagine they would have had to at least mention that they were losing money and had to do something about it. I'm sure Girardi would be able to back out if he was lured there under the pretense that the team would be trying to win in 06.

    I like Mariotti on Around the Horn and while this article may not be entirely correct factually, the sentiment is good. Maybe the Cubs aren't "staying out of the big free agents" or whatnot, but at least Jay is giving them a kick in the pants. Although dissing the Cubs by saying Murton and Cedeno will start in left and at short is not the way to go. At this point, I'll gladly take that because it means Neifi is not the SS.

    Yet a very easy decision on who to root for while living in Ohio. Pass Interference, pfft. Still pissed off at that ref. That was NOT pass interference.

    If I'm Notre Dame, I stop at Jones and Frazer and start pouring all my recruiting resources into the can't-miss kid Jimmy Clausen. Rumor has it that ND is among the favorites to land him. Of course, the same was true of his older brother Casey before he went to UT.

    It gets better! If they don't land Burnett they likely keep Marquisand go after Jacque Jones. Good lord, is Jim Hendry running the Cardinals organization too?

    Watch Hendry and Baker use this as justification for Macias's 3 year, 4.5 million extension.
