  1. Chicago sports figures: (not being a Bears fan this is really just a Cubs/Bulls list) 1. MJ 2. Banks 3. Santo 4. Sosa I dropped Sammy that far only because Banks and Santo continue to be Cub ambassadors and Sammy would never be able to fill that role anymore.
  2. That's not a pertinent question, because no one is going to make us keep him if we traded for him.
  3. No I wouldn't. I'd just find some other team that needs relief pitching and flip them LaTroy for a Class A prospect.
  4. Maybe we want to trade them Hairston and that's what is slowing things down.
  5. Yeah. He's talking about the Tejada thing right now. Sounds like the Cubs have very serious interest. He also said if the Orioles think about trading Tejada things would go very quickly. This offseason could go from terrible to mediocre (after Pierre) to fantastic very quickly if Hendry pulls this off. And I will jump off the "I Hate Jim Hendry" BandWGN forever if he can do it.
  6. Yeah. He's talking about the Tejada thing right now. Sounds like the Cubs have very serious interest. He also said if the Orioles think about trading Tejada things would go very quickly. So if the O's GM is smart, he'll start by asking for Prior, Z or ARam. Hendry will say no, so then the O's GM has to look at Leo Mazzone and his PC, and think that it would be smart to build around pitching first. So we can offer Hill, Williams, a reliever, and a position player prospect (probably Cedeno). Would that be enough? This is a scenario that having Pinto or Nolasco could really help. Levine was speculating Hill, Williams, Cedeno, and maybe Patterson would do it. I think that's all he said. He might have said another prospect too. I forget. Wow. if Jim Hendry's listening, pull the trigger in an instant! Getting Tejada without giving up Pie or Hill would be absolutely huge.
  7. I'm not even sure the Marlins would make that trade.
  8. Mets sign Julio Franco to two-year deal Bill Mueller signs with LA Dodgers
  9. My friends went to a Cubs/Reds game at Wrigley in September 2004 and got into an argument with Freel. From what they told me it was quite humorous.
  10. Bulls are looking better, 5-0 run to start 2nd quarter. Kobe has all of one point in the game so far, it would be nice to take advantage of his struggles.
  11. Two points scored in the first 3:11 of the 2nd quarter, both by the Bulls.
  12. Why do you say that? It is not just Stone who says that. All one has to do is watch him pitch. Absolutely. Especially when he overthrows. He comes completely across his body when he is in one of his wild spells. It doesn't take a competent pitching coach, or even Larry Rothschild, to figure that one out.
  13. Pitching. I think all of it. Starters and Pen. You'd think that would make us the prohibitive favorites to get Miggy...
  14. You wont get anywhere without putting Pie's name in the discussion, especially not if your only letting him take 3 players. If they trade him they will want to get the base for a good young team in return, as I said previously a Package like Pie, Hill, Cedeno, and Dope would be a good start. And then I'd pay for all of Tejada's contract too. I honestly doubt it will cost us Pie to get Tejada. If we give them enough pitching prospects, plus Cedeno and another bat, he can be ours. Just look at the other deals that are going on right now, no one has really had to give up their top prospect for anyone, and seldom does a top prospect get shipped unless he is in the Yanks system. Somehow I think that if Cedeno + pitching prospects was all it took, Tejada would be a Cub already. What about: CPatt/Welly/Oriole prospect to LA Bradley/Williams/Cedeno to Baltimore Tejada to Cubs ?
  15. Bonds charging Prior was in my picture slideshow screen saver for quite some time after that. Hilarious.
  16. I'd probably do that deal. But since Hendry's not trading Pie or (apparently) Hill, it's probably a pointless discussion.
  17. Patterson, cash, two prospects for Tracy? In all seriousness, ship him to Arizona for a midlevel prospect. It'd be much more than CPatt is worth.
  18. I'll miss Nomar, and since it looks like he was indeed willing to play just about any position, I'm more than a tad pissed off at Hendry for not signing him especially since we could have had him for far less than the 8 million we gave him last year.
  19. Personally, I would pretty much hand Angelos a list of players (Z, Prior, DLee, Ramirez, Murton, Pie, Pierre, Barrett, Dempster, Williamson, maybe a couple I'm forgetting) and say he can pretty much take any three players in the system except for those for Tejada and see if he bites.
  20. I rate teams' off-seasons as how good they're going to be in 2006 personally. And the Marlins get an F. Maybe they'll be good in 2009, and maybe it's not totally their fault that they have to dump payroll, but the fact is they are going to be all kinds of terrible in 06, and they get an F. I'll give the Cubs a B- for the moment. If they can get a decent RF I'll bump it to a B.
  21. One might also consider how blatantly spikes-up and out of the way of the base Carlos Lee slid into second on that day.
  22. I don't think wins mean much, either, but nine wins is quite a jump in a career high. If he were an OF and had a proportional jump in home runs then everyone would be clamoring for a steroids test. Which is not to say that Carp is juicing, I'm just saying it's evidence of the magical power of the Cardinals uniform.
  23. If the Rockies want him, they can have him. Enjoy that 10.00 ERA that's likely to come in Coors Field.
