  1. Welcome Konan. I agree, expensive for a one-year rental, but if that one year results in Felix Pie not being destroyed like CPatt was by too much, too soon, then it could turn out to be well worth it in Pie's future production.
  2. He was traded to the Rangers, who now have a bit of a logjam in the OF too with Wilkerson, Sledge, Nix, Mench, etc.
  3. Z for Tejada/Gibbons/Bedard/Cabrera then maybe we can start talking. Z PLUS other people for Tejada? Give me a break. How scary of a thought is that? That thought keeps me hopeful of the Cubs' future. Prior/Z could be a fantastic tandem for the next decade-plus if the Cubs organization doesn't screw it up.
  4. The Cubs have a hole in right obviously, but I feel comfortable with Murton in left and Cedeno at short hitting 6th and 8th respectively. Assuming of course that Hendry straight-up tells Johnnie B. to play them unless they go 0-for-a month or go Albert Belle on a teammate or fan. I would like another starting pitcher, especially with Wood's issues, I don't think we can afford a Prior/Zambrano/Maddux/Williams/Rusch rotation for an entire season. At present, though, Hendry should focus on RF's, then look into strengthening the other positions if he can.
  5. I agree with jigman re: Maddux. If Greg ever got favoritism from the umpires in Atlanta, it stopped once he became a Cub. At least five times in his two years, I've seen him start walking off the mound after throwing a third strike for a third out, only to see the ump call the pitch a ball. And almost every time, it results in hits and runs for the opposition. I think there is some truth, also, to the theory that the young Cub pitchers, especially Wood and Z, get squeezed due to their past run-ins with the umps. They're human just like everyone else and they hold grudges, and Wood and Z have gotten into so many tussles by now that it's impossible not to run into an umpire that will squeeze them.
  6. I don't know what all this Oregon talk is about, but I GUARANTEE that if Oregon was in the SEC/Big 10/Big 12/ACC instead of the Pac-10 (which, may I remind you, couldn't even fill out all their six bowl commitments this year), that they'd have at least three losses and probably more.
  7. I vote for this one. Love the Zoolander reference :)
  8. At one point in his career he had a perfect 5.000 OPS with 1 GS in 1 career AB...who wouldn't love him? :D
  9. I would estimate our chances of getting Francoeur, Delmon Young or Brian Anderson (since he's a White Sox prospect) at less than negative numbers.
  10. I would trade Z for Tejada under 1 condition. We could then trade Corey to the O's for Z. Other than that, there's no way I trade him.
  11. Or perhaps the O's front office told him that they WILL trade him under the condition that Miggy comes out and denies that he demanded a trade. By doing so, it gives the O's a lot more leverage in trade talks. Reeeeeeeach.
  12. It's hardly arguable that players once worth very little or nothing seem to tear it up the minute the put on a Cards uniform, but I highly doubt that it has anything to do with the umpires.
  13. I think you mean Juan Rincon unless there's something I don't know about Ricardo. Forgive my ignorance. Let's just assume that all Rincons are steroid users now.
  14. And one of the many nobody steroid users is off the market. Gimme Alex Sanchez.
  15. Keep driving up the value and maybe we can kep Pie and still get Tejada. :P
  16. The Astros should do this deal. Lidge is a gutless choking dog.
  17. It's a good thing no pitchers on our team ever get injured, then.
  18. Murton - The Leprechaun Pierre - Slappy
  19. Wolf could have been more polite, but his point is absolutely correct. Barrett is probably the best offensive catcher in the NL, and his defense is not that bad, so why go nuts with acquisitions? There are two players the Cubs need to be focusing on - Tejada and a decent RF (probably Bradley).
  20. Stay away. Javy's getting up there in years. He's not even in my top 5 of Orioles I'd want in a trade.
  21. Young, Jeter, Peralta Young is purely a creature of Arlington. As you know quite well. Jeter's peak was many moons ago and hasn't been Tejada's equal in some time. And his defensive issues drag his value at SS down quite a bit. Peralta needs to do it for more than one year to prove it. He's won two Gold Gloves, dude! *sarcasm*
  22. I'd offer Wood in a second (especially if that meant we could keep Pie), but would he waive his NTC?
  23. I'm saying no just because I don't want to be crushed when it doesn't happen.
  24. That's what she said, Warp.
