  1. Not at the Rose Bowl. The BCS banned any celebs from either team's sideline, apparently pissing off Snoop and Harry Winkler. http://www.fiftiesweb.com/fashion/fonzie.jpg The Fonz does not appreciate your misidentification of him as "Harry". Henry Winkler :P
  2. Not even remotely surprised. The Big 10 is consistently overrated - in football and basketball. That's why ND should join - they'd lead the league in both categories! I'm not sure bowl records are always a great indication of league strength. Probably not, but considering that the vast majority of big conference teams are too big of wusses to schedule each other in the regular season, it's all we've got.

  4. The Sox were not hosed. They put Podsednik on the cover the previous week and the series ended the night most people got that issue. The same thing happened to the Pistons when they beat the Lakers in 2004: SI put them on the cover when they went up 3-1, the series ended right after that, and SI did not put them on the next week's cover. It's called avoiding overkill.
  5. Have I mentioned lately that I LOVE Z?
  6. Which means pretty much nothing. I've seen more Sox hats lately too. Doesn't mean anything except for that the bandwagoneers are celebrating. I saw a lot of Red Sox hats after 2004 too, and now I see almost none. (Granted I live in South Bend and not Chicago...)
  7. The Cubs have a chance to be much better than the 2005 edition. That said, Dusty, injuries, and general terrible luck (in that order) will once again probably keep us from being better enough to compete.
  8. Naturally, he does a lot of Panthers games. The NFL simply hates our team. He calls Steve Smith "Steven Smith". The best wide receiver in the game today and he can't even say his name correctly.
  9. Who knew, TOSU jumps right onto this topic?  I cannot wait til we play the Irish. Tressel's gameplan has to be exploiting matchups with Ginn. He cannot let that game end without at least 15 OFFENSIVE touches for him. He'll light up that porous D. And if we lose, which we won't, I'll be back here after coming back from the Bulls game, ironically enough going to the game with a Michigan fan (it all comes back full circle) taking my lumps from the ND Cheerleaders. I remember saying something along the lines of "I hope you enjoy losing" to the PSU faithful prior to that matchup. What happened? OSU lost 17-10 and I stopped in and admitted the better team won. GO BUCKEYES! Awful confident for someone whose defense has been getting studied by Charlie Weis for the last four weeks.
  10. Pierre and Jones should ceremoniously surrender to the pitcher every time they fail to get on base.
  11. Naturally, Z gets blasted for that by most fans even though Bonds would have pitched a tent and stared at the ball for 30 seconds if he had hit a home run in that AB. Wasn't there a game in Milwaukee in 2003 where Z had a one-hitter going into the ninth inning? That's my favorite Z memory, because he looked completely unstoppable.
  12. I'd pick Z if only because he can apparently throw 130+ pitches 6-8 times a season without it having any kind of negative connotation at this point. He's a horse. I have to think he has about the highest trade value in the majors besides Santana and perhaps Cabrera/Pujols.
  13. Blue Skies, Green Fields, a profile of 50 baseball stadiums. Unfortunately it's a bit outdated so new parks built after 2001 aren't in it, but it's a good read.
  14. Wholly (*expletive*) thats one ugly list. That ought to tell you all you need to know about Johnnie B. Baker.
  15. .310, 36 homers, 110 RBIs, and around a .950 OPS. Solid season, better than any year he's had but 2005.
  16. Michigan State played 2 good games this year, against ND and Michigan. Other than that, they really weren't any better than Purdue.
  17. I drive my dad's cars when he lets me. All Dodges (my grandfather worked at Chrysler for 35 years). They've given me very little trouble apart from the Dakota breaking down last Thanksgiving (to be fair, it had 207,000 miles on it).
  18. I like USC a hell of a lot more than Michigan, MSU, Purdue or BC. And now that ND/USC is actually going to be a good rivalry for once (after we owned them from 86-01 and they owned us from 02-04), I'm looking forward to seeing USC again.
  19. I'd make a joke but I'm sure every possible senior citizen joke that can be made about SF has already been made. I wonder what the record is for 35+ year old players on one team.
  20. What's to discuss? KC's had an offseason leaps and bounds better than ours.
  21. ND beat Niagara last night 80-59 and plays Columbia tomorrow. You may now return to your Big 10 discussion.
  22. Old crap for old crap. The G-men probably got the best of the deal though.
  23. Vaseline is shorter. So I use it.
  24. Ball State lost to Drexel 56-51 last night. This ought to be a long, sad season. :(
  25. I'd bet that of our 162 games in 2006, that is the 1st inning sequence at least 30 times.
