  1. Anyone with 3+ extra bleacher seats to any weekend series in the summer I would be glad to grab the three. Haha...I was deliberating over whether I wanted bleacher tickets to the San Diego series May 12-14 and while I was waiting, the 12th (the only one that had had bleachers available) got bought up...oh well.
  2. Note to self: Jump in lobby BEFORE going to your four hours of classes next year. :P It's all good, Ebay worked for my friends and I last year so I'm sure it will come through again.
  3. I almost had bleacher seats lined up for both the Padres series and the Braves series in May but one fell through and I screwed up the other by trying to open more windows :(
  4. I'm in and looking at May 26. Has Seth hooked you up yet? No, nothing yet. I'm almost certain bleachers are gone but if you can get lower-deck seats I'd be ecstatic :D
  5. I know there's almost no way this will work, but if anyone can get in and somehow pick up 3 tickets apiece (preferably bleacher, although I'm sure they're all sold out by now) to the Braves series Fri/Sat/Sun May 26-28 and can receive PayPal money, I'll pay you back and be eternally grateful.
  6. It's fairly close, but I think this question boils down to one thing: Would you stop being a Cubs fan if Wrigley were abandoned? And although it wouldn't feel the same if Wrigley weren't the home park, I will absolutely be a Cubs fan for life no matter what. So I have to pick the Cubs.
  7. That's possible, but I think most on this board have him coming back to Earth this year. 2005 was far and away his best year ever and he had the help of an absurdly good offense which will only be above average in 2006.
  8. For me, that ranks behind the Penn High School baseball stadium.
  9. WWII? On what possible level is that even remotely similar to Gulf War II? Anyway...it's not like Vietnam because we have a clear exit strategy. Bush won't call it an exit strategy, but the fact is that once we have Iraqi police trained up and everything is set to go (which could happen in the next 18 months or so), we'll be pulling out. Whereas in Vietnam, there was never a clear picture of when it would be over. That's why all the Iraq-Nam comparisons are foolish.
  10. I love the sidewalk vendors. Without them where will I go to get my somewhat reasonably priced jersey T-shirts??? :(
  11. I'll concede that Pierre could and probably will be more important and more effective than Murton will this year, but I think that Matt will easily outproduce French Chocolate this year.
  12. Oh no please tell me you don't think Murton is our best OF. Thats just ridiculous. Ummm, who's better? Pierre or Jockstrap Jones?
  13. Now THIS is a true fan. Getting shipped to Iraq and the first thing he thinks about is how it affects his Cub-watching. :D I'm sure you'll make us all proud when you get back out there, Jehrico!
  14. I want to see Edmonds stand back and admire a home run when the Cubs are ahead by 9 and for Zambrano to scream at him again. That would be fun.
  15. The guys on BBB.net seemed to think that Ben might call his dunk the Question Mark, and that the Dore thing was a joke because right after he said that there was laughter.
  16. If only Chandler hadn't had such a rough start to the year, because the way he's playing now he could have competed for the Defensive POY. Two absolutely sick blocks. And Gordon is clutch. But we all knew that. :D
  17. You forgot Williamson in that group. Except for Howry, I think he'd be the one to close over all those other relievers. JH didn't do a good job at all on the outfield, but even an average Eyre and Howry plus the other guys should equal to one of the better bullpens in the majors this year.
  18. You haven't seen bad basketball until you've seen Ball State at the end of any close games. They lose again tonight, 62-56 against Western. They missed at least 5 or 6 easy lay-ins. The wildly inconsistent officiating didn't help. Neither did the completely and utterly worthless Pat Nelson.
  19. That year was 2003. I hope it isn't the last. IIRC, Prior crashed into Giles in 2003 and missed 2 or 3 starts because of it, so even that year wasn't a completely healthy one.
  20. Wood is a member of the Cubs, whereas Sheets is a member of one of the Cubs' competitors. Just that piece of information alone doubles the odds that Wood will get hurt and Sheets won't.
  21. Keep it coming! We all enjoy ND losing! :D I'm kidding (sort of) - I was shocked to see ND come back in this game. I'm no longer surprised by anything this team does. The lengths it will go to break the hearts of the South Bend faithful is amazing. At this point, I'm fully expecting ND to get to the Big East title game, have a big lead on their opponent, blow it, go to OT, take another big lead, blow it and lose, closely followed by the committee having ND as their first team out of the tournament. I mean, if I weren't an ND fan myself, I'd marvel at this season. You almost have to try to lose this many close games without getting a break yourself.
  22. To revise the numbers, it's now 9 Big East losses...by 27 points...in 6 overtime periods. (3) Uconn 75, ND 74. In Hartford. I honestly can't believe this. Edited to add some more numbers: Seven of those nine losses were to the top 7 teams in the standings of what is, by far, the best conference in the nation and quite possibly the best conference ever in one year. ND went on a 25-2 run at one point in this game, and I'd be reasonably sure that no team has ever gone on a 25-2 run or more and lost a game before. Ever. If just three of these games had gone the other way (I'll pick Nova, WV and this game because those were probably the closest three), then ND would be standing at 16-8 (7-6) and there'd be no doubt of their NCAA worthiness. As it is they're 13-11 (4-9) and will probably need to win out and get to the Big East title game, at least, to sneak in the back door. I hate to just keep on complaining and reeling off these numbers after every close loss, but I have just never seen anything like this in my life.
  23. Provided Walker isn't traded and gets the playing time he has earned over the last two seasons, I'd expect him to be the best 2B in the division and for it not really to be close.
