  1. My best friend, who happens to be a Cubs fan, has that shirt. When I asked him why, he said, "Well, it's true!"
  2. I can't imagine, with a name like "Pujols", where they might come up with a joke to put on a shirt. :P
  3. It is 12, SSR. BSU does lose as Flames mentioned, giving up 6 points in a row after having the game tied. Still no road wins on the Cards' MAC resume, as well as knocking them from contention for a top-2 slot in the pathetic MAC West.
  4. What did I say? 7 losses by 23 points. Two blatant fouls on Quinn's last play go uncalled and ND loses another one. It's like rooting for the Cubs all over again.
  5. This is interesting. I didn't realize that ND ever really had a shot at Mustain. I'll trade him for Jimmy Clausen, though.
  6. JH convinced teams to give him guys with upside for nothing. KW would, if this trade went through, have convinced Philly to give him an already established star for slightly more than nothing. I don't know if that would speak more to KW or whoever Philly's GM is, but it's definitely not quite the same as what JH did in 2003.
  7. I say WV by 13. You would think. But ND has a habit of playing just well enough to lose by single digits in the conference this year. The only question tonight is what big possession will Notre Dame screw up to lose the game in the closing seconds.
  8. Over/Under for how many points ND loses by to WV tonight: 4.
  9. All of ND's expected recruits appear to have signed except for one. ESPN has them listed as the number 5 class in the country. Very nice for Year 1 of full-on Weis recruiting.
  10. No possible way. Refuse to take anything less than Prior from us, then gladly take a 50 year old pitcher and a strikeout artist who's had two good seaons this millennium, AND throw in a prospect? That would be one of the most lopsided deals in history.
  11. I was deeply impressed with the Bulls tonight, particularly how Kirk Hinrich led that amazing comeback and how Tyson Chandler got (almost) every big rebound, including giving the Bulls a whopping four chances to hit a three-pointer on that last possession. Even though this ended up an L, I think the team took a big step tonight. Let's not forget, this road trip is still very much a success if the Bulls split the next six games, and they're capable of winning up to five of the games (under no circumstances do I see the team beating Phoenix). I'm still confident about the Bulls' chances if they can get out of this road trip bloodied but unbowed.
  12. It's amazing, Louisville was ranked as high as 4th this season, and they might not even make the conference tournament in the Big East. Conference is STACKED. Final Four last year + get most of your good players back (exception F. Garcia) + C-USA to Big East = no top-12 conference finish. Last week, Seton Hall, a middle of the road Big East team at best, walked into Raleigh, home of the 3rd best team in the ACC (NC State) and crushed them. Georgetown beat Duke, which no one other than Va Tech has even come close to this year. The conference is obscene.
  13. Easily Jackson. Every time I watch another game he does, I laugh aloud at 5 things he says, at least.
  14. the MVC is very very good this year...they should get 4 teams in the big dance this year in UNI, SIU, Creighton, and Wichita St. I would not have been that embarassed to lose to UNI, they are going to win at least one game in the tourny this year...mark it down. I'm still pissed at UNI for not becoming my Cinderella Sweet 16 team last year as I predicted.
  15. Reagan was a huge CUB fan, not just baseball. Besides working Cub games for WHO, he went to Eureka College and was born in Dixon, the guy was true blue Illinois all the way. You can change your home base in your adult life, and he did, but you can NEVER change your baseball roots, as we all know. Dutch was a Cubbie, and like my Grandpa never saw the Cubs win a World Series. :-( reagan was history's greatest monster. Ugh, I know that's a line in the Simpsons, but I forget who they were talking about. Jon? Jimmy Carter was history's greatest monster (Marge in Chains). I don't know what his connections are to the Cubs. His statue made a great tetherball pole, though. I'd love to see that Murray game. "Is that Foley up again? Hey Foley, strike out. Strike out, Foley! I hate everything you stand for!"
  16. Don't be asking me, Soul. I've been incredulously decrying Walker's "tradeability" since the day I found out Hendry was evidently trying to move him. My theory: Todd asked for Jim Hendry to share his daily order of donuts with the team. Hendry immediately called him selfish and a clubhouse cancer and vowed that he would no longer be a Donut (err, Cub) on Opening Day 2006.
  17. Maybe when we sweep IU, Michigan and Purdue next season they will consider us. Kidding, kidding...
  18. I agree completely. Go ahead and kill the road alternate too - the blue shirts, with their lack of trim or detail of any kind, are just bush league. What if we had blue alternates, with the block CHICAGO in red, like the road uniforms?
  19. I would be too if I was about to become the mascot for that team.
  20. I agree. LeBron is showing a maturity early on that is reminiscent of some of what made Jordan so great in the 90s. He's an explosive scorer and leader, but he also makes his team better. That's not to say that LeBron is Jordan or vice versa, but LeBron is impressive. Kobe is a dominant player, but I can't say the same praise about him. Lebron cant be Jordan, he's not the killer that Mike was. I'm not saying Lebron is the next coming of Jordan. In fact, as much as I like Lebron, I highly doubt he'll reach the heights that Jordan reached as a player and leader. That being said, he's the closest thing we have had to Jordan since his 2nd retirement and he displays flashes of what made Jordan so great. However, there will never be another like Mike. Ever. As much as I hate to say it, there will be a player that is better than MJ one day or another. It may not happen for another 10 or 20 years but it will happen. Blasphemer!
  21. I would too. But I get the feeling they'll do something stupid like go to this Tarpons name that has been thrown around. I don't even know what a Tarpon is.
  22. Who's that?
  23. BSU downs Toledo 69-56 and have now won 3 of 4. Their 3-6 conference record is inexplicably 1.5 games out of the pivotal 2nd place (the one that gets you the bye to Cleveland in the MAC tourney) going into Wednesday's trip to DeKalb to play Flames24Rulz's Huskies of Northern Illinois.
  24. They did a "Curse of the Bambino" video - why not a "Curse of the Billy Goat"?
