    If I were Todd, I'd be doing the same thing. Soaking up all the fan love and thanking them. Honestly, this has to be the dumbest thing the Cubs have done in my six years as a fan - even though Todd knows he's our best option at second, even though just about every Cub fan (except perhaps for Edward K.) knows he is the best option at second, and even though he's indisputably our best lefty bat (sorry Jacque), he has to deal with these trade rumors following him around. Poor guy.

    Well, Skiles needs to get Sweets out of the doghouse, and soon. I like Tyson when he's on his game (as he seems to be lately), but the Bulls won't get past the first round of the playoffs without another reliable big guy, and Sweets is that.

    If only this were true! :D Agreed. The great thing about this site is that every time I think I've found a new baseball story that NSBB hasn't talked about, I'll come to the board, and invariably there's already a thread up about it with 20 or more posts. It's fantastic. :D

    Amazing facts there, Diffusion. I had been under the impression that Dusty Baker probably screwed Derrek Lee out of an MVP award, now I don't think there's any question about it. Someone should really show this stuff to Lee. Getting the team's stars angry at Dusty would be the fastest way to get rid of him. I get the feeling that even if DLee had managed a bunch more RBIs, that Pujols would've gotten the award anyway. Assuming of course that the Cubs wouldn't have won, say, 5-10 more games with a normal 1-2 lineup in front of Derrek.

    I loved earlier in the game when the refs pulled out the rare "two awful calls against the Bulls at once" play by calling a block on Deng when he'd been standing there for like half an hour, and then following it up with a total BS goaltending call against Tyson on the continuation. But the Bulls are gonna get this one and make it 4 in a row, despite the brilliance of Joe Johnson (40 pts). Where was Sweets tonight? I didn't see him play once.

    That's the thing about Game 6 - I really wasn't that disappointed. I just assumed that they'd win Game 7. I was pretty down after Game 7, but I just assumed the Cubs would be back over and over again. If I knew we still wouldn't have returned to the playoffs two years later, I would have taken that loss a lot harder.

    Kirk's fine and is starting the 2nd half. Chandler is looking splendid. If he stays in form from here on, Bulls will not only make the playoffs but they'll be a top 6 seed. You heard it here.

    (6) Villanova 72, Notre Dame 70 - after a 22-4 run got ND back into the game late. 6 losses in conference - 22 points total (4 overtimes played). How snakebitten can one team be?

    When Sammy Sosa hit that HR in the 9th inning, when I had less than zero faith that the Cubs were going to get a run in that situation, I just about exploded. What an amazing moment.

    I read about this in the book "Bleachers: A Summer at Wrigley Field" which was written during the 1987 season. Even reading some of he stuff he said in print had me cackling so I'd love to see video.

    I like alternate jerseys because nothing is more boring than gray. That's why I'm such a big fan of the Cubs blue jerseys.

    I don't see much of a change, but the Royals have always had one of the more underrated uniforms in baseball, and these are still good.

    Seconded. And thank him for what he's done for us the last couple years. I'll never forget his Superman slide to win the Oakland game in 2004, or the time he blew a cycle in Houston - by hitting a second home run instead of getting the double he needed.

    Fervently disagree with the Panthers indictment :wink: Give me Carolina's uniforms over Cleveland's, Arizona's, Tennessee's, Cincinnati's, Seattle's...(I'll stop now). Anyway - I nominate "Tampa Bay Tampons".

    10: Rice 9: Wake Forest, Northwestern, Stanford, Vanderbilt, Army, Navy 8: Duke, SMU, Tulane, Air Force, UCLA 7: Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Michigan, Penn State, Texas, Missouri, Buffalo, Miami (Ohio), Georgia, Notre Dame Certainly some interesting names already. Cal was rated just a 6. USC was a 3. I would think they're missing something when it came to Texas. Notre Dame has varied over the past few decades based on how much they actually want a winning team. I still can't believe they once let in a Proposition 48 casualty (Tony Rice).

    What could possibly be in a forum called Game Threads? Wel I figure you talk about the games, but for as much as its talked up i figured it was just amazing for the way in which the discussion goes on or something. I'm sorry, I'll do my best to not ask any more stupid questions... :) No worries, I just love to jump on any opportunity I have to bust out my arsenal of sarcasm. :D

    So much for Ball State being hot. They lost tonight 68-59 to WMU to blow a shot at staying in the thick of the divisional race. Pretty much eliminates them from the possibility of getting into the top 2 and getting that bye to Cleveland. Note: First-place Northern Illinois would be in SIXTH in the MAC East. Wow.
