  1. I think I know what game you're talking about. It was on Mother's Day a coupe of years ago. That was the same game that J.D. Drew pulled a muscle and was put on the DL. I remember Chip/Steve and Pat/Ron all agreeing that the game should have been called a lot earlier because of playing conditions. STL 11, Cubs 9 with I believe 7 homers in the game by the time they called it in the top of the 5th.
  2. plus he has a SB in 9 straight games which ties a Ricky Henderson record from '86. Who didn't see this coming
  3. Best part was only 2 walks. Hopefully Z starts putting the ball over the plate like that more often. <3 Z
  4. That's disgusting. If it is Prior's first game back after his rehab, and he is at 140 pitches through 7, with a no-no. You keep marching his ass out there. You never take that away from a pitcher. It's hard for me to agree more with a post than this one.
  5. CUBS are 1-3 when Fred has yet to be seen. Actually...... the CUBS are 2-7 when Fred is missing from the game thread. Go CUBS !! You're not allowed to miss a game thread any more
  6.
  7. I have Dunn, but none of my players are performing all that well. I was relying on Pujols/Gomes/Thome to carry my numbers for a while.
  8. In theory, it'd be a good offer, but another team would trump it if ARod was on the block. If he ever gets traded, the team that gets him will vastly overpay.
  9. What an accomplishment. Contract extensions for everybody.Boo for having cardinals of any sort in your sig As a Ball State student I wholeheartedly disagree! Me too, Ball State University Class of 1995 right here. Needing to get myself down to the Heorot sometime soon. The Fickle Peach is better. I still need to get to Scotty's. Actually, I need to get just about everywhere. The only traditional thing I've done is get a hot dog from Carter late at night. Which was delicious BTW.
  10. Z's pitching, so maybe we can squeeze one more day out of this. Actually, Kerry is pitching the next day (and was really good last time out), so maybe we can get two more days. Who am I kidding? We're gonna win the pennant.
  11. The only way I can stomach a Dusty extension is if the team wins the World Series this year. For all I care, Dusty can rot here until he dies if that happens.
  12. carpenter isn't going to be out so............ yeah. wasn't carpenter placed on the 15 day dl w/ a back injury? Yep, but he'll be returning shortly. CubfaninCA has been conditioned to think that all pitchers that go on the DL miss at least a month and a half, so I can hardly blame him.
  13. Remember Todd Wellemeyer?? Yeah, I do too. To this day I cringe whenever any Cub reliever debuts solidly. Welly K'ing the side for the save in the 16th of that Brewers game still sticks out.
  14. agreed...if the cubs can just take every series on this roadtrip i would be so happy! but we'll see GO CUBS The thing is, the Cubs have put themselves in such a hole that they need to start sweeping some series. Sure, if we took every 3-game series 2/3 the rest of the year, we'd probably compete, but it's probably not going to happen. So when you win the first 2 games of a series in the Cubs' position, you need to finish it off. And they've lost the last 4 times they've taken the first two of a set.
  15. He's gonna need to go nuts for that to happen. Wells, Sizemore, GMJ, Granderson, and Damon are all in front of him, production wise. Oh man. Imagine GMJ and Corey making the all-star team. Combine that with Pierre being much worse than 05 Neifi and you'd have the perfect storm of CF disaster.
  16. Murt will be fine. It's looking more and more like it's really more of a slump than anything. He is hacking at a couple too many first pitches for my liking, but we may be overreacting a little to every time he does that, so it seems like he's doing it more than he is. I'd let it go till the ASB before we really need to get concerned. And he has to pick up the power - I knew he probably wouldn't have as much as he did last year but I still thought he'd push 20 dingers.
  17. Womack CF Murton LF (once he heats up again anyway) Walker 2B Ramirez 3B Nevin 1B Jones RF Barrett C Cedeno SS With Jones and Barrett switching against lefties I might be crazy, but that looks like a pretty damn good lineup. And once DLee gets back, we won't need Walker in the middle of the order, so... Murton LF Walker 2B Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Jones/Nevin RF Barrett C Womack CF Cedeno SS With two .350-plus OBP guys at the top of the order, two really good boppers at 3-4, two solid power hitters at 5-6, and two guys who would be acceptable at the bottom of the order, this lineup could go a long way. But all this would be contingent on Pierre getting shipped out, which I just don't think JH or Dusty will live with.
  18. It will take 94 wins, and STL will be that team. I doubt any other team puts up more than 84.
  19. Walker is always really good especially for a 2B (granted he is playing 1B most of this year so far), and while his SLG is down this year, he's on pace to have his best full-season OBP since 1998 with Minnesota. A lot of teams are probably wishing they'd thrown Hendry a bone this off-season because he's been very good (in the field too, with only 2 errors at 1B).
  20. Today's was pretty chuckle-worthy, I think.
  21. Neifi Gaetti?Gaetti hit the GW HR in the 1998 one game playoff, thereby instantly revoking him from that list.
  22. It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. http://houston.astros.mlb.com/images/2004/08/28/qiLbdXQq.jpg
  23. Marquis has 8 wins though, which is enough to completely invalidate wins as a pitcher statistic.
  24. Oh well...the Cubs are doing ok at pitcher for the moment.
