    I knew he wasn't very old because I remember him being 19 and being the youngest player to go deep in the Series back in 1996. But it does seem like he has been around forever.

    When I said I was in as good a shape as Glendon Rusch is at the game on Monday after he gave up a homer, a fan behind me immediately began proclaiming that I could never hope to be as good as Glendon. After Glendon immediately gave up another homer, I hissed at him that I can give up three dingers an outing and have an 8.00 plus ERA just as well as Glendon can. That pretty well shut him up.

    They aren't giving refunds to people who left early? I don't know if they would or not, but I was in the bleachers and the rain completely destroyed my ticket that was in my pocket, so I couldn't get one now anyway. Nope. Today's my sister's birthday. But it doesn't look like I missed much.

    Len said earlier that Ronny will play SS in the 2nd game. What better way to teach him how to play 2B? But oh wait, Dusty has to play Neifi at 2nd. Get Baker's worthless rear out of this city. Oh, and I don't like paying 40 bucks to sit in the rain for an hour, then have to leave before it is called for circumstances outside my control so I can't get a refund.

    I've never heard the term "Option the contract" before. EDIT: Time to put my new Sean Casey Boblehead (Fresh from Saturday night!) on ebay! :-) I think "optioning" just indicates that it his option year has now been exercised, could be wrong of course.

    Oh great, I'm glad the injury bug is taking up residence in Charlotte for a third straight year. Kris Jenkins had a back injury too, I wonder if he'll miss the whole year for three years in a row. I could very quickly get bitter about football. Edit - Closer inspection of the article makes me less worried...Marty Hurney the GM said he's done this before in training camp. Smith's a tough-as-nails player and I'm not going to worry about this too much. But if he gets hurt later this season I'm going to be pissed.

    If Chicago gets the Games, some events could be held in South Bend. That's my main point of curiosity.

    The MLB.com subhead to this move states that Jon Daniels has the intention of signing Carlos in the off-season. If he can sign him for a decent deal then this becomes a fantastic trade. As it is, Texas's chances of winning the West just got a lot better.
