For once I'm not so sure Dusty is wrong. In an ideal universe Murton and Pagan would play as much as possible but Jones is the rightfielder and you can't just tell him to sit on the bench for long periods of time to give the kids more PT. Maybe you can sit him more in September, but I don't think there's any more Dusty can do.
In any fair universe Mark Prior would've been the better pick for now, for soon and for later. But since we're the Cubs and since Dusty is our manager, Prior is just not going to be the same, at least not for a long time.
I still think Murton is too good to abandon, but unless the Cubs have a great offense elsewhere, giving him a starting job is sketchy. That's why Murton and Pagan should both be playing as much as possible these last two months - to figure out what we want to do in 2007.
With the talent Carr has year in and year out at UM, he should've won at least one more national title, and he sure as hell should not be having 3-loss seasons every year. He lost 2 of 3 to Tyrone Willingham's pathetic ND teams for crying out loud. And I'll say it right now: I'm ten times more worried about Penn State than Michigan.
Let me just guess: You've been a Cubs Fan for how long? Who are your favorite Cubs? Not long enough to see the first incarnation of Maddux, admittedly. For me, it's Z, Lee, Barrett, Aramis.
No surprises (except perhaps UM at 15 - perhaps they're catching onto Lloyd Carr's penchant for underachievement). I didn't want the Irish to start No. 1, so 3 is fine.
Todd, you're the man and I will never understand what everyone's problem with you was - even one of the most intelligent Cubs fans I know said Walker could not play for us this year because of his defense. Greg - I'd miss you more if we hadn't gotten your sucky beginning, a couple years of greatness, and then part of your sucky end.
