  1. The logo is shiny and nice but the rest of those uniforms look amazingly like minor-league jerseys.
  2. I believe the Bulls went into last night ranked 26th in the NBA in defensive FG percentage. That's a joke.
  3. 4/37 is the figure being thrown around.
  4. Because Jones is the new Walker. Nobody knows why he must go. But dammit to hell, he's got to GO!! Well, Jones is supposedly getting traded in this deal, so CF would be open. But why not just look for another CF and put Lugo at SS?
  5. I'm totally on board with getting anyone who can post a sub-4 ERA in Coors Field. But why oh why oh why does Lugo have to play CF in all these projections?
  6. Considering the Cubs' current team I would agree with you (since neither Cabrera nor Pujols would be better than Ramirez or Lee to the degree that it would cancel out losing Zambrano).
  7. What set things up for 2004 to be a pressure-cooker was the Cubs trading for Derrek Lee to replace the Choi/Simon/Karros first-base group, signing LaTroy Hawkins to replace Crappy Setup Men A, B and C, signing Greg Maddux to replace Shawn Estes, replacing whoever the hell played third base in the first half of 2003 with a full year of Aramis numbers. Then in July it was all topped off by replacing our worst position player at the time with Nomar. That team had no business not winning 100 games.
  8. I was personally rooting for the Sox to sign Juan Pierre, but I'll settle for them keeping their existing crappy leadoff hitter.
  9. Rogers Centre isn't exactly a hitter's paradise, right? Because those nearly 30 homers give me pause. We don't need a lefty Maddux.
  10. MarioKart is the greatest video game franchise of all time. I've considered buying an N64 just to get MarioKart 64 because of it's sheer awesomeness. Mario Party was also amazing before they got too carried away with the different modes and stuff. No one ever really wants to play any way but regular.
  11. The whole team choked after his gaff. He does seem to escape criticism, doesn't he? We tolerated his garbage bat, because he was pretty good defensively. But when we needed the glove the most, he choked. That's baseball. If you remember, Alex had some pretty clutch hits that year. If I remember correctly, he had 2 or 3 game winning HR/hits in a week or two. He also hit well in the post season. He had 3 game-winning homers in a week to tie the Cubs' single-season record, and almost had a 4th a few days later (Geoff Jenkins robbed him at Miller Park in the game CPatt eventually won with a 16th-inning homer). I'm pissed at Gonzo for life for that grounder, but without those 3 homers we probably aren't even in the playoffs.
  12. I bet prior is showing schmidt in advance how to do the towel drill lolz
  13. Jordan was openly and blatantly robbed of MVPs in the 1993 (Barkley) and 1997 (Malone) seasons under the little-known "let's vote for someone else because we're sick of Jordan winning" reasoning. I don't think he ever complained. Then again, he also got to prove that the voters were wrong in both cases by beating the other guy in the Finals.
  14. I have no idea why this is news, we knew his time was drawing close anyway. I will laugh if MacPhail is made new commish.
  15. Of course, the season could fall apart on Saturday with a loss in the Championship Game. Or, we could be playing in the Orange Bowl. I haven't felt this anxious about a Tech game since the 98 Georgia game (Tech won at 0:00 with a field goal). There HAS to be a better QB than Reggie Ball on that team. There just has to be. If they'd played someone competent, they'd probably have beaten ND and Georgia and be right in the 1-loss mix.
  16. He did? http://www.baseball-reference.com/b/bondsba01.shtml http://www.baseball-reference.com/p/pujolal01.shtml Bonds: 341/529/749/1278 Pujols: 359/439/667/1106 Yup, he did.
  17. [blatant attempt to change the subject] THE BEARS SUCK! [/blatant attempt to change the subject]
  18. Once again: That game should never have been that close. Ohio State thoroughly dominated the game, and if not for Troy Smith fumbling a snap and Doug Datish completely botching another, Ohio State wins the game by 13 or 17 and we're not even having this discussion. but they did, so it was that close. As they say, if the Queen had balls... The point is, it's not like Michigan played well enough to force a rematch. OSU just played imperfectly enough to keep the game close. So where does USC look so great that they deserve #2? Their conference was weaker this year No, it wasn't. At the top the Big Ten was better but apart from Stanford, the bottom tier of the Pac-10 is miles ahead of IU, Northwestern, etc.
  19. In before lock
  20. I don't see how you can defend such a claim. Gonzo had as good a defensive reputation as Izturis has. And he wasn't as damaged physically as Izturis is. Cesar is no wonderboy out there. SS is one of the most important defensive positions out there and Izturis is one of the top SS in the game...If hes batting 8th im willing to live with that..It just means we need better production out of our other positions.. That's a luxury we might not have.
  21. Bonds won in 03 because he had better stats.
  22. I can't see the Cubs wanting Lugo so it's easy for me to buy this even though it's probably a crock. (Just kidding Bruce!)
  23. I just thought the same thing. I was telling one of my Sox fan friends that I don't understand why Crede is hated by some of their fan base, and then I looked at his stats. His OPS this year was ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY FIVE points less than Miguel Cabrera. It may be unfair to compare with Cabrera, but for someone that is talked about so much I'd have expected more.
  24. This is a load of crap. The Phillies won more games in a better division than the Cardinals did with a GM actively trying to destroy the team at the trade deadline. Pujols deserved it, but he deserved it for his STATISTICAL advantage, not for anything the Cardinals did.
  25. The good: ND walloped Winston-Salem 90-45 to go to 5-1 on the season, and their only loss is to seemingly unstoppable Butler. The bad: They still haven't played anyone other than Butler. Although that will change with Maryland and Alabama coming up.
