    Totally agree. People on this board hate everything. They hate the sun. They hate air. If you ask 4000 people for their opinions on anything, there will be people that don't like it. So any subject that gets discussed on the boards will have people in violent objection to it. I could just as easily say that this board likes everything, too. That was a valiant attempt at spin. :P There has been a predominantly negative tone here lately. is that surprising? a team with a $95 mil payroll nearly lost 100 games last year. now they've thrown $20-28 mil at a guy who had a 6+ era. what else would you expect? This board as a whole (like, I suspect, most baseball boards) has its favorite players that they'd like to see their teams acquire at any certain phase. There's a tendency to dislike it when said team passes up the guys the board wants for someone who is deemed inferior, especially when they overpay to get him, as in this instance. There's a predominant negativity right now, but I'm neither surprised nor dismayed by it.

    Looking sluggish. I thought we did away with this last night. This is their 4th game in 6 days (6th in 9), so no real surprise I guess.

    Cards lose 75-56. Next up is Valparaiso who nearly beat Marquette (seriously, when does this gauntlet end?).

    Jjgman doesn't want anyone to post. Jon doesn't want jjgman to post. RichHillIsABeast doesn't want Disgruntled Cubs Fan to post. DCF only wants you to post if you think Hendry is a tool. Treeman is damning the Cubs. Marquis is Satan. RichHillIsABeast is keeping track of who thinks Marquis sucks so that when Marquis win the Cy Young this year he can laugh at them. Oh, and everyone hates this deal now. /sarcasm

    Jon should love this: With Delhomme on the shelf for Sunday, Carolina's promoted rookie QB Brett Basanez from the practice squad to back up Weinke.

    It's been said that Rothschild auditioned Marquis and said he knew the mechanical flaw that probably hurt him last year, but I haven't seen an article yet. If true that should help.

    Pitt holds off Buffalo 70-67. The game was in Buffalo. Can't wait until Georgetown comes to Muncie next season.

    Matthews, Meche and Pierre are still far worse than this, mostly because all are 5-year deals.

    Unfortunately, something this place has had very little of this offseason! It's been hard at points to read this board when you have to wade through pages and pages of arguements that lack reason, an objective view, and have some really skewed logic. The negativity (and I can understand it a bit) on this board has been SO bad this offseason it's crazy! Despite that, this is still head and shoulders above any other forum, I just wish more people would heed jjgman21's advise above. And posts like this one ^^^^ What do they accomplish? This isn't a thread on debate tactics, its a thread on the signing of Jason Marquis. I don't like it. There is a good chance that he will not get better and you will be on the hook for 21+ over 7 years. The following young pitchers can outperform Marquis. Sean Marhsall Carlos Marmol Juan Mateo There was really no point to this signing. Those pitchers didn't step up last year enough to count on them starting this year.Basically the point I was trying to make, only more concise. :)

We all like the potential of the Cubs' young pitching, but the simple fact of the matter is that they all posted ERA's above 5 last year. It would have been foolish for Hendry to assume that they'd get better. There's a good chance that at least one will, but you can't sit and guarantee rotation spots to young kids who have had no success in the majors as of yet. (I'm trying to think of this from Hendry's POV.)

    Ball State is facing #22 Oklahoma State tonight in San Diego as part of what has to be the toughest OOC schedule in the history of the program. I'd be happy with any positives we can get out of this one.

    Can the end result be that Jason Bay is a Cub? I'm pretty sure Bay is under contract through 08 so it'd be impossibly dumb for the Buccos to deal him now.

    I think McDonough, Raftery and Bilas are the best broadcast team in college hoops. Wisconsin looking pretty impressive right now against Marquette. Up 10 with 10:41 to play.
