  1. Laid eggs? They were outclassed. Their only other games were against second tier programs, so of course they looked better. Come on, man. Laid eggs? Yes, laid eggs. Quinn has thrown 5 INTs all year and 3 of them came against UM. That's a laid egg. Hell he didn't even have any against USC whose D is pretty damn good too. Rhema hasn't dropped passes all year until this game. Freeman looked like crap. USC outplayed ND but that doesn't mean ND played their best game. I give all sorts of credit to UM and USC for playing the way they did in those games, but they weren't responsible for Rhema's not holding onto the football today or for ND's offensive line crapping out in the UM game. The only consolation is that we likely didn't get beat bad enough to fall out of the BCS.
  2. Title: OSU v USC Rose: Michigan v FL/Ark loser Sugar: ND v FL/Ark winner Orange: GT v Louisville Fiesta: Ok/Neb winner v Boise State I don't see any way the Rose picks a rematch over the SEC loser.
  3. Keep on losing Detroit. Brady Quinn for silver and blue! Tomorrow the Skins. No excuse not to be 7-4 after that one. Jason Campbell is making his first career start, I think.
  4. Considering the fact that Ronny Thompson is miles away from having enough talent to compete on a high level, losing to Kansas 64-46 and to W. Kentucky 76-66 isn't bad at all.
  5. USC is a good football team. I love the crap out of Weis, but this team laid up two stinkbombs in the two biggest games of the year. And I have no idea why. Quinn's stats belie that he was missing his most dependable target (Carlson) and Rhema/Freeman played like crap, combining for about 10 drops. His receivers and Oline screwed him on a couple of occasions. He played very well considering the circumstances, especially since he played hurt. Hope he enjoys the trip to NY although he obviously won't win the Heisman. I echo DCF. Thanks for the awful secondary, Ty. If ever there was proof that Weis will need a couple more years of recruits to make this team a real contender, this game was it. Just not enough talent yet. Let's have Arkansas please win the SEC title game. That way the Rose Bowl can take Florida to avoid the ridiculousness of an ND/UM rematch. All that said, this post is absurd with no further comment:
  6. I still don't understand why you feel that way. If they ink Schmidt and manage to deal for a corner OFer of value, will your opinion change? No. MLB is currently giving birth to a flock of albatrosses. This pattern of giving so-so players superstar contracts based on one great year is going to come to an ugly end. There's no way this level of stupidity can remain unacknowledged for long. As long as the Cubs don't give so-so players superstar contracts, it's not an issue for them. With $115m available this year, blowing up and starting fresh was a bad idea. So you think Soriano will justify his salary in RF for 8 years? I don't. Is anyone going to justify the salaries they've gotten in FA in recent years for the length of the contract? At least the Cubs' signings have a CHANCE to justify it. There is no way on this earth that Matthews or Pierre will ever be worth what they're now making.
  7. DETROIT (+3) over Miami DALLAS (-11) over Tampa Bay KANSAS CITY (-1) over Denver Pittsburgh (+3) over BALTIMORE Cincinnati (-3) over CLEVELAND San Francisco (+5.5) over ST. LOUIS MINNESOTA (-6) over Arizona NY JETS (-6) over Houston New Orleans (+3) over ATLANTA Carolina (-4) over WASHINGTON Jacksonville (-3) over BUFFALO SAN DIEGO (-13) over Oakland NY Giants (-3) over TENNESSEE NEW ENGLAND (-3) over Chicago INDIANAPOLIS (-9) over Philadelphia SEATTLE (-9.5) over Green Bay
  8. Has there been anyone since Sosa that previously wore or requested #21? And just to keep this on topic, Murph's a moron. Not that we know of.
  9. Ball State loses. At home. To Chattanooga. 70-55. And my optimism for another basketball team has entirely hit the skids. Can't wait to see us get annihilated by Kansas, W. Kentucky and Georgetown in a 4-day span.
  10. ND would be iconic even if they joined a conference. I'd be surprised if the Big 11 wanted ND after the debacle in 1999.
  11. or Notre Dame to the Big 10, some combo of Boise St./Hawaii/BYU/TCU/Utah to PAC-10 I'm operating under the assumption that ND won't join a conference. Even if they'd be receptive to it in the future, they've got four more seasons of NBC dollars to look forward to at least (and that's assuming that NBC wouldn't want ND back, which considering the future of the team wouldn't be a good bet). Well then there's no point in making all these changes. It's either ND to the Big Ten or nothing. Why would you say that? I thought what I proposed was fairly reasonable.

  13. Solution? Louisville to the Big Ten. (12 teams) Add a conference title game. Marshall from C-USA to the Big East. (8 teams) Add a conference title game. C-USA can choose whether to keep their title game or not. Pac-10 has 10 teams already, so add a title game there. That way, you have a conference title game for all the BCS conferences. In 2006, OSU/Mich would get a rematch and it doesn't have to come at the expense of a national title game.
  14. BECAUSE THE BOWL GAMES ARE CHOSEN BY JUDGES, INCLUDING WHO GETS TO PLAY IN THE WHATEVER BOWL THAT DECIDES THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. Every other sport this side of figure skating and boxing is decided on the field/diamond/track/ice/oval. The national championship in college football is decided by sprotswriters. It is a joke. Wisconson, West Virginia, Louisville, and Rutgers, only has one loss. Boise state has zero losses. None of these teams are even in the discussion. If Michigan plays OSU again and wins both will have one loss. Some other team that didn't play OSU or Michigan could end the season with one loss. Boise State could end the season undefeated. Actually the national title right now is decided by coaches (the poll). Which is probably even worse.
  15. If they ever have a playoff, it better not be more than 4 teams. If there's ever a 2-loss or more college football champion because of getting hot at the right time I'll be irate.
  16. Big surprise to me... http://www.tsn.ca/
  17. It's very possible with the Rose Bowl getting the first at-large pick, especially if Arkansas loses the SEC title game, leaving them as an at-large team. I think that if Arkansas wins the SEC title game, the Rose Bowl will select Florida rather than have a USC/ND rematch, though. Who knows what happens if Florida wins it, though, because Ark/SC would be a rematch as well - a rematch of a terrible game. Yeah right good point. I think they would choose ND in a heart beat. Notre Dame's first experience in the Rose Bowl would be intriguing. 1925 - The Four Horsemen beat Stanford in the Rose Bowl in their final collegiate game.

  21. 3/45 for Schmidt in this market is not just reasonable, it's probably a bargain. Get him, Jimbo!
  22. Whoa! Just like last year, Hendry sets the market. At least this time he did it with Soriano as opposed to overpaying middle relievers.
  23. Muskat also never even offhandedly mentioned an interest in Soriano. Her opinion means about as much as mlbtraderumors.com's at this point.
  24. 30 days I believe soccer. When is the offering arbitration deadline? Or has that passed? I don't see him signing before then. and we're what 5-6(?) days into that, BoSox gotta have the deal done b4 x-mas(re3ally earlier, but i dont know the exact dates), i can see him waiting that long Either way, who is our GM and what did he do with Jim Hendry. That Carlos ZanRambo avatar someone has might fit better with Hendry now. He's taking no prisoners at this point.
