  1. Scout.com's Bill Shanks says the Braves have acquired Rafael Soriano from the Mariners for Horacio Ramirez. Remind us again how Bill Bavasi has a job? Actually, we'll wait for added confirmation before we go off on a rant about this one. Wow! If that is the price for starting pitching then theres no wonder trades are not going down. Soriano for a below average SP. Yikes.
  2. Ooooh, some *very* interesting little tid-bits in that one. Among other things. Ted Lilly thinks he wants to reverse the curse, huh? I think he's waiting for that Yankees offer, because after all, NY would be a preferrable destination to Chicago unless the money is more here. Watch out all you Dunn fans. Maybe he is the guy Hendry wants
  3. I like Church, but I don't think Hendry thinks he is a starting option. I think he looks at him as more of a bench player.
  4. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say an average outfielder in his early 30s and a few not-so-great pitching prospects are not going to fetch a 25 year old guy who is at least a #2, and maybe a #1 if he puts it all together like he did in 2004. agreed
  5. Maybe Hendry does look at this board :-k
  6. Lieber, Blanton, Silva, Rodrigo Lopez, and Maholm
  7. Meche, younger, similar numbers, and more potential
  8. I would be very upset if the Sox ended up with my favorite pitcher. Why would the Sox want another starter? That rumor seems unrealistic
  9. Thats why we would have to throw in some prospects to sweeten the pot And those prospectS would probably have to be of the Pie/Veal/Paw/Gallagher ilk. Just because the pirates are willing to trade Duke for an OF, doesn't mean they will trade him for ANY OF. Jones is not the worst guy in the league. He is above average and provides the decent power hitting lefty bat that the PIrates think they need.
  10. minor leauge deals don't really matter to much. This sounds like Grissom from last year.
  11. Thats why we would have to throw in some prospects to sweeten the pot
  12. I'm Ok with Lilly as long as he is not our #2 starter. We need another dependable guy at the top.
  13. There are many rumors out there today talking about the Pirates wanting a power hitting outfielder. This was also from a Pittsburgh paper: "A Pittsburgh-area newspaper reported that the Pirates could obtain an outfielder from the Reds for pitcher Zach Duke." If they would be willing to do that I think that we could give them Jones and a prosepct or two for Duke they would make the deal. Duke has a very live arm and has shown us many times how tough he can be. Is a deal Hendry should look into I think. http://www.daytondailynews.com/s/content/oh/story/sports/pro/reds/2006/12/06/ddn120606redsnotesweb.html
  14. I don't like where this is going. I would much rather see Schmidt and Batista than Lilly and Meche
  15. His health is a major concern. So is everyone's out there except Zito
  16. I would rather have Meche than Lilly. At least Meche still has some potential. I think that with Lilly you know what you are getting while people rave over Meche's arm and the potential it has.
  17. I Wish Hendry would make a play for Lieber. Take on all of his contract to get him cheaper and I bet we could get 15 wins out of him this year
  18. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/baseball/mlb/12/05/drew.redsox/index.html 5 years/ 70 million
  19. Update from Jason Stark at the meetings: • An official of one club that had talked with Colorado said there is "no way" that's going to happen. And another source said the Cubs are "not down any road on any trade with any team." An official of another club that has spoken with the Rockies about Jennings said there is just about a zero chance that Colorado will trade him before leaving the meetings. "I don't think a reasonable deal could be made on him right now," the official said. "They're certainly not in any panic to move him. They can sure afford him, so it's not like they're going to non-tender him or anything. In other words, there's no gun to their head to move him. So the price is really high."
  20. Lieber is rumored to be on the block. Any interest?
  21. I think Church would be a great addition. Float his name to Jim for us Bruce. He is that lefty bat he is looking for, for the bench. He could start as well. Great but low candidate.
  22. Byrnes is a guy I wanted to get last year. He seems great for the clubhouse and leaves it all out on the field everyday. He is right handed though so I don't see him coming.
