We would not have to lock up Soriano with a 7-year deal that will last until he is 38-39 we get Manny for two years and can look at the market after that. Manny is and RBI machine and would be perfect. For that low asking price I would jump all over it.

    Hendry must have been given many blank checks. It sounds like this guy is ready to hand out money left and right. I have heard just about every name out there mentioned recently. This offseason is going to be crazy on the north side.

    Maria Kanelis who now works for WWF. She won some contest and now works for them. I know her and talk to her a few times a year. She is from Ottawa, IL where I live and she is smoking. She won that contest and the WWE kept her around. Do you mind giving me her number? :D :wink: I know she is dating C.M. Punk from ECW. I don't have her number I just talk to her when shes back in town around the holidays and other times during the year.

    Are you joking? Meche isn't even close to being in Jennings league. Jennings has pitched his entire career in Colorado. Last year while pitching in Colorado he had ERA well below 4 (3.78). How many people have done that in Coors? He also has pitched almost 200 innings every year hes been in the bigs. With his good sinker at Wrigley he could be damn good and dependable.

    Jim since you apparently need some help (Gil Meche sucks) I thought I would give you a plan. I know your not real good with planning, so I'll help you out. First off we need to make a trade. Rosenthal says that the Red Sox would be interested in Izturis because they want a good defensive SS. The Rockies seem to be infatuated with Coco Crisp, and well we need pitching so...... We get Jason Jennings Red Sox get Izturis, Novoa, and a minor leaguer or two Rockies get Coco Crisp See that wasn't so hard was it Jim. Now we could us a little more power so since the Phillies would give up Burrell for just about anything lets give them something crappy. If they will take Jones send him because you will have to move him anyways. Now since we have made a few trades we still have money to spend. Since you are hading money out left and right, let's give it to some good players Use every dollar you have left to sign Soriano, Lugo, and a pitcher (Wolf, Igawa, Padilla, or another guy in that 2nd tier) Now we have a formidable team to put on the field. Lineup SS-Lugo CF-Soriano 1B-Lee 3B-Ramirez RF-Burrell C-Barrett LF-Murton 2B-DeRosa Rotation Zambrano Jennings Hill the FA pitcher Miller/Prior/Marshall/Marmol Get on it Jimbo

    How would you define bad contract in a market like this? I bet according to the standards everyone is using as of today to judge contracts, that 97% of the contracts signed this offseason will be considered bad contracts.

    Don't forget the market is out of control anyways. Guys like Roberts, who is 35 are talking about 3 years. Pierre is talking about 10 million a year. If DeRosa doesn't work out then Theriot can step in. Everyone is going to get overpaid this offseason. Deal with it.

    Yeah, but he was putting up 30 homers and close to 100rbis before that. He was no slouch. If he upped his numbers so much in one year and turned him into a superstar, why is is so hard to think that Derosa can't do the same after his breakout year and turn into a good everyday player?

    Don't forget Derrek Lee never "brokeout" until he was 29 almost 30 years old. Some people figure stuff out later than others.

    People. People. I understand that he gave him to much money, but we still have around $40 Mil. to spend this offseason. He will make a few trades and sign some more players. If he did this to trade Theriot or Cedeno for a pitcher it is a good move. We need pitching and I don't think that Theriot or Cedeno will ever be great. So sign someone who is versatile.

    i'd rather have a solid starting lineup than a solid bench, though i'm sure you'd agree with that also. I think DeRosa is solid just nothing great

    We were already versatile with Cedeno, Izzy, and Theriot. Well, now they can lead the league in versatility. That should be good for 10 extra wins or so. :wink: only if DeRosa's ScrQ+ (Scrappiness Quotient Plus) is 517.4 or higher OMG! He could be the Look Again Player of the Year!!! :D He fits the profile... Ya hes white, dumbest award ever

    If this situation ends up with Izzy gone and TheRiot at short then I think it's a good move. If the middle infield is Izzy and DeRosa then I pissed, that would require a HUGE boost in production from the OF and I don't see that coming thus far. That would be awsome right there..both good with OBP...Get rid of Izzy.. maybe it's a prelude to sending izzy to cleveland with prospects for westbrook. Or maybe send Cedeno in the deal for Westbrook they need a 2B. Send them Novoa, Cedeno, and some minor leaguers. The Indians just got Barfield from the Padres in a deal last week. They don't need a second baseman. Whoops, forgot about that
