Is Sabean that bad? The Zito signing was horrible, obviously. Lincecum, Posey, and Bumgarner were top 10 picks, sure, but it's not like the top 10 doesn't have a fair amount of flameouts. Hitting on three players of that caliber in a 3 year span isn't very common.

I'm not going to pretend I know what those numbers even mean or how accurate they really are but I agree with the general sentiment that Noah is more than just a glorified role player. He's a borderline all-star and could really do a reasonable prime Ben Wallace impression (with better offensive skills and less shot blocking).

Well drop the hammer is a phrase that can be used to mean anything. I'm sure ND has the war chest to weather just about any punitive damages that are doled out and I'd be very surprised if the football program is directly harmed, nor should it, unless something really negligent comes out. So yes, in that case, it's unlikely that ND will have the hammer dropped on it in a way that will jeopardize its standing as a university or the football team. On the other hand, reflexively saying that it's nothing more than meaningless message board pounding is speculative too considering we don't know what the investigation concludes. It really seemed like you were saying there's no way anything criminally negligent happened because you sound convinced there won't even be a civil suit, let alone a criminal one.

It's easier to find a reasonable facsimile of Noah (although not very easy and getting harder considering how good he's gotten) than it is to find one of Melo. Not necessarily in one offseason but over a number of years when you have the draft, MLEs, other trades, etc. But we shall see, I honestly don't think scoring will be that big of a problem for this team with Boozer.

Yeah, it was really obvious we were trying to run plays for Korver in the 4th quarter and OKC was ready for it. That stuff needs to be secondary action after Rose and Boozer when he gets back. But he really needs to keep playing because out of all the new guys he'll probably take the longest to incorporate well into the offense. Bogans is just a defense/spot shooter and Brewer is energy and slashing. Getting Korver involved will take repetition, practice, and game experience.

Naw, I'm already calming down. Deng did a fine job on Durant for the most part. And I know everyone loves Durant but some of his acting on the offensive end is shameful. He's like the Vlade Divac of offense. He seriously charged at least 5 times in that game but only got called for 2 and 3 of them were him flailing his freakishly long body into a defender with established position.

Yeah that was classic Luol. The momentum really turned on the plays where Korver passed up a corner 3 and let the shot clock expire and Deng couldn't finish on that break. Wasn't that after an in bounds play? How do you not know how much time is left on the clock? Yes, yes it was.

I didn't think most of the shots were that bad...he just had an off night. And christ, when you play him off of Gibson, Brewer, and Bogans simultaneously for long stretches of the game he's going to have to go into Iverson mode. Him and Korver need to develop some chemistry so we can't just shoehorn in him at the end of the game and expect the offense to work. Deng was so bad...

Plus I don't think people are going to retroactively remember that 2006 title as an equal Wade/Shaq partnership. That was one of the most dominant individual performances in NBA playoff history by Wade that year (with some really absurd officiating).
